Nelson was startled for a second, but he quickly continued with a smile. “Liz is a kind girl. I know you have many

misunderstandings toward her, but I hope you can try to get to know her properly. She’s indeed a gentle girl.”

Nelson was startled for a second, but he quickly continued with a smile. “Liz is a kind girl. I know you have many

misunderstandings toward her, but I hope you can try to get to know her properly. She’s indeed a gentle girl.”

Gareth gazed at Nelson coldly and blurted, “Is this all that you want to tell me?”

Nelson heaved a sigh and passed a recording to Gareth. “This is my recording. After I die, the only kin she has in

this world is you. I hope… you can keep this recording. Please don’t tell her about this unless the situation calls for

it. But if any mishaps happen, I hope you can make her aware of it.”

Gareth knitted his brows with a tinge of frustration in his eyes while Nelson continued, “Your misunderstandings

toward her are mainly because of me. She’s innocent. Gareth, please, please keep this recording. This is my only

hope before I die.”

Gareth gazed at Nelson aloofly and could tell from the latter’s expression that it was a genuine plea.

Nelson inhaled deeply. “Please listen to the recording in the future when you have time. It’s just two minutes. As for

the rest, I’ll leave it to you, alright?”

Ever since Elisa and Gareth married, Gareth had never deemed Nelson his father-in-law because he thought Nelson

didn’t deserve to be his father-in-law, and neither did Elisa deserve to be his wife.

The marriage only happened because he was forced by his family for the sake of their interest.

However, Gareth’s sympathy was aroused. For some reason, he hummed insouciantly, “This is the first and only

time I’ll help you.”

Nelson heaved a sigh of relief and stared at Gareth with his eyes filled with gratitude. “Thank you. Thank you.”

One’s kindness would be rewarded. Nelson knew Gareth was a kind-hearted man because he was willing to help

him.

Those were the details Gareth recalled and told Elisa.

With her head lowered, Elisa said nothing while Gareth mumbled gently, “I only listened to this recording recently.

Given the situation now, I think it’s about time to let you listen to it.”

Elisa turned her face away, not wanting to look at Gareth. At this point, she had no desire to resent Gareth

anymore.

Given how haughty he normally was, he was already being merciful by keeping his promise to Nelson and playing

the recording to Elisa today.

In fact, Elisa thought she should thank him.

After pausing for a moment, she hummed, “Thank you.”

Gareth’s eyes darkened. That was the last thing he wished to hear from Elisa.

Elisa sat motionless on the couch while Gareth looked at her calmly. “It’s getting late. Do rest up.”

Elisa did not answer. She was waiting for him to leave so that she could leave thereafter.

However, Gareth stood still at the spot for the next half an hour while Elisa sat silently on the couch.

Elisa lifted her eyes to look at Gareth. “Are you going to stay here?”

Gareth’s deep-set eyes looked cool and tranquil as he stared at her and remained quiet.

Elisa pressed her lips. Oh well, this residence belongs to him. He has the freedom to come and go.

Nonetheless, she still couldn’t understand why Gareth went to such great lengths for her sake.

Elisa regained her composure and decided to stop mulling over it. She stood up and hummed, “I shall not stay here

further. Have a goodnight.”
