Gareth naturally didn’t want to move, but he was no match for his grandmother, who kept forcing him. Julia had

berated him a few times, and Gareth had no other way. He finally started to move.

His long figure bent down slightly, and his bony fingers picked one rose.

Julia’s mood lifted instantly, and she said happily, “Good luck, my darling grandson. You only have nine hundred and

ninety-eight roses left!”

Gareth and Elisa were both dumbstruck.

Elisa’s hand that was holding onto her cell phone trembled. There was an uncontrollable smile on the corners of her

lips.

Grandma was very humorous. Elisa almost burst out laughing.

Gareth continued picking roses in frustration.

One rose. Two roses. Three roses. Four roses…

Time passed, and Gareth was still picking roses. Although the sky was dark, lights illuminated the entire backyard

brightly. The view from every corner could be seen clearly.

Elisa’s hand that was holding the cell phone was slightly tired.

But Gareth picked three hundred roses in a row and hadn’t broken a sweat. His breathing was regular, and he didn’t

seem to have any problems.

She turned around to look before placing her cell phone on a table in front of them. It could capture Gareth

perfectly. At the very least, the cell phone wouldn’t have to be moved for the next two hundred roses that Gareth

would pick.

Julia kept staring at her grandson and would encourage him occasionally. Still, everything she said would infuriate

Gareth to the point of spitting blood. Elisa couldn’t hold back and wanted to laugh.

What Julia said next made Elisa unable to control herself as she burst out laughing.

“Good boy. You’re much faster than your grandad. Back then, when he pursued me, he was slower than a snail at

picking flowers, whining while doing it. You’re much more thoughtful than he was.”

Elisa couldn’t hide the small traces of joy in her eyes. She was the thoughtful one, not Gareth.

She felt that her plan was perfect.

Gareth had a dark face. When he turned around, his gaze was fixed on Elisa’s beautiful face.

It was as though he was seeing Elisa with such an innocent smile for the first time.

The next moment, Gareth looked away. It was her innocent and genuine smile. She had done such an evil deed by

making him pick flowers here. This d*mn woman!

Gareth gritted his teeth and restrained his anger so he wouldn’t lose his temper.

He had to give Elisa a way out in front of Grandma. It wasn’t for Elisa’s sake. It was so that Grandma wouldn’t

worry.

He was resigned to continue picking the roses.

After a while, the table at the side was covered in fresh roses.

Even if this was Gareth’s first time doing manual labor, he didn’t seem like unskilled labor with his actions.

Elisa turned to look at Julia. “Grandma, you must be tired after staring at him. Do you want to rest?”

“No! I have to personally watch him pick all the flowers! This brat owes you this much! Picking nine hundred and

ninety-nine roses is nothing! Moreover, this barely makes a dent in what he owes you!”

Elisa couldn’t help but chuckle. “Grandma, there’s no need. Aren’t there security cameras here? You can check the

recordings after this. Furthermore, I’ll be recording here.”

Julia immediately said in a low voice, “No! I won’t leave! I must watch him until he’s done!”

Gareth’s face darkened at once, but he didn’t say a word.
