When Rachel saw that Elisa had opened her eyes, Rachel smiled and said, “I knew that you would be awake by now.

My timing is impeccable. Come on, babe, drink this herbal tonic and recuperate!”

Elisa tore off the blanket on her, and Rachel immediately panicked slightly. “Don’t! Let me help you! You’re a patient

now! In any case, you should be more delicate!”

Elisa was dumbstruck.

As soon as Rachel said it, she saw Elisa sit up like a regular person.

“Are you putting on an act in front of me? Are you deliberately pretending that you aren’t very hurt?” Rachel sized

Elisa up.

Elisa immediately laughed in exasperation. “No.”

Rachel sighed in frustration at once. “You try too hard to be brave. You should be more delicate.”

When she said it, Gareth had returned, but Elisa and Rachel were in the bedroom with the door shut. They didn’t

hear the soft noise outside.

Gareth’s footsteps paused slightly as he stood at the spot without moving.

Elisa smiled. “Even if I’m not delicate, I have you to care for me. Why should I act like I’m fragile?”

“I’m a woman! You have to show this side of yours to a man!” Rachel’s voice was intertwined with frustration. She

was exasperated at the woman lying in bed.

Elisa scoffed. “What’s the point of showing it to a man? Besides, I’ve never needed a man.”

“You… I know you’ve really given up on men, but how old are you? You’re only twenty-six this year. You still have

your whole life ahead of you. You shouldn’t give up yet!”

Elisa suddenly chuckled. She looked at Rachel, who was worried for her and kept chattering. Elisa couldn’t help but

say, “Didn’t you previously say that we should stay single all our lives and then adopt a child in the future? What

happened to that?”

“You’re teasing me! I’m being serious! Liz, you shouldn’t be alone! Even if you don’t want to accept Carle and be

with him, you should consider other people.”

Rachel saw that Elisa wasn’t listening to her, and she said in frustration, “Never mind. You’re wounded, so we don’t

have to discuss it now. Come on, drink this herbal tonic. I called a doctor in the hospital to ask about it. This is good

for you.”

Elisa smiled. “Okay.”

Gareth stood in the living room alone. His expression seemed to have turned cold.

He had clearly heard what Elisa had said.

— ‘Besides, I’ve never needed a man.’

Yes. With her abilities, she didn’t need a man to do anything for her.

If she wanted a man, she could replace one that loved her, cherished her, and placed her in the palm of his hands. How

could someone so temperamental like him be an object of Elisa’s consideration?

Gareth sneered in that instant before he returned to his bedroom.

It was getting late. Rachel sighed. “If Gareth wasn’t so disagreeable, or if there were other rooms in the hotel, I

would want to stay with you. That way, I could keep an eye on you.”

“I’m in great condition now. You don’t have to worry.”

“I’m afraid that you’ll catch a fever at night.” Rachel was slightly worried. “But with Gareth’s personality, how would

he allow me to stay with you?”

Elisa smiled. “You don’t have to worry about me. I’m fine. Furthermore, I’m safer with Gareth around. Those people

won’t dare to act blindly without thinking. They would make a move if they knew Gareth wasn’t around, and only

two of us were left.”
