No More Waiting, She Chooses Love -
Chapter 753
I could tell just from her expression-Fanny had never shopped online before.
Standing up, I took the delivery package from the courier for Fanny, who had spent the whole day in surgeries. Upon checking the recipient's details, it was indeed addressed to her.
"Could this be another gift from an admirer?" I teased, placing the package on the table.
Fanny looked just as clueless but grabbed a utility knife from the table and sliced the package open.
Curiosity got the better of me, and I leaned in closer, eager to see what was inside. But as the outer packaging was torn away to reveal the inner box, Fanny and I both let out screams loud enough to wake the dead.
And those screams continued until someone outside heard the commotion and rushed in to catch the snake that had been causing all the chaos.
Both Fanny and I were pale as ghosts. The moment the package was opened, the snake had shot out, brushing against both our faces.
I don't know about others, but Fanny and I have a shared terror of slithering creatures. Not just snakes-even caterpillars could send us into a frenzy.
It was clear this was a prank meant to scare Fanny.
The sender's address was on the package, and upon closer inspection, it was from an apartment complex I once lived in, which had since been demolished. So, whoever pulled this prank knew me. They knew me, and now they were targeting Fanny. It didn't take a genius to figure out what this meant.
Fanny had been digging into something sensitive, and this was a warning for her to back off.
"Fanny, I'm so sorry you got dragged into this," I said, my heart aching as I looked at her pale, frightened face. This was exactly what I feared the most, and yet, it happened.
"Fanny, let's just stop here. They only sent a snake, which means they're warning you to stay out of it. I doubt they'll do anything more," I said, trying to rationalize the situation. But Fanny shook her head. "I'm not going to be scared off."
She was stubborn, that one. Once she set her mind on something, there was no changing it.
But this was about the Clarks, and they could easily harm Fanny if they wanted to. I tried again, "Fanny, please, listen to me. If anything happened to you, I'd never forgive myself."
Fanny looked at me, a small smile breaking through her fear. "I'm not scared. Look at you, all worried."
I wasn't afraid for myself; I feared for Fanny.
"Just promise me you'll stop looking for other girls," I pleaded.
Under my insistence, Fanny finally
nodded, though I still felt uneaset
Uneasy that she might not truly stop her investigation and worried that they might target her again.
So, the only way to ensure Fanny's safety was to remove the threat once and for all. That's why I took

what Fanny had found directly to Allen.
"You're out and about rather quickly. Was thinking of visiting you," Allen greeted me with a smirk.
"Did you do this?" I slammed the snake-filled package down in front of him.
He glanced at it, feigning ignorance. "What's this?"
I knew he was playing dumb, but I laid it all out, "Stop messing with her. It was my idea, so come after me."
Allen stayed silent, but his silence spoke volumes. I handed over the evidence Fanny had collected, "Is this enough for you?"
After examining the documents, Allen chuckled lightly, "To keep your dear friend out of trouble, just do one thing for me."
