No More Waiting, She Chooses Love -
Chapter 755
"Sure thing, I'll pick the spot," she replied, all brisk and breezy. I glanced around and mentioned the name of a nearby cafe. Yolande took about half an hour to show up, dressed in casual wear and riding a motorcycle, looking both cool and confident. I couldn't help but think of Ernest on his bike; those two really did share the same spirit. I even caught myself wondering, if I hadn't caught Ernest's eye early on, I probably wouldn't have any place beside him now.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," Yolande apologized as she sat down. Even though she was part of the Clark family and had a history with Ernest, I didn't dislike her. I gave a small smile. "It's me who should apologize for disturbing Ms. Clark's rest." She had clearly been woken up by my call earlier.
"You did get me up. I've been struggling to catch some sleep lately, and today, of all days, I managed to doze off," she admitted openly. I was curious about her lack of sleep but didn't feel close enough to pry, so I simply said, "I asked you here today because I need your help with something."
"Is it about Ernest?" she cut straight to the chase. "No," I paused before continuing, "I don't need Ms. Clark's help with my man."
Yolande laughed heartily. "You didn't call me here just to remind me of that, did you?" I laughed too. "I'm not that scheming. I need your help with something else."
"What's that?" I pondered for a few seconds. "Can you tell me what Allen's Achilles' heel is?" Yolande paused, then caught on. "You want to leverage it?"
"Yes. I'm worried he might give my friend a hard time. I won't use it unless I have to," I explained my stance to Yolande. Yolande was silent for a moment, then scoffed lightly. "Me, betray him? He calls me aunt."
"I understand your relationship, but I
believe you disapprove of his actions as much as anyone. If you can't act against him, let Ernest take care of it. I'm just hoping Ms. Clark can clear the way," I hinted. Yolande didn't respond, and I knew she was hesitating. I didn't push further, only adding, "Ms. Clark, you don't have to decide right now."
"I'll give you a call once I've thought it through," Yolande wasn't one to beat around the bush. Our meeting was brief, after waiting for half an hour, our conversation lasted barely three minutes before she took off. Watching her motorcycle fade into the distance, I left the cafe and
headed to the address Fanny had sent me.
As soon as I got out of the car, I heard crying-it was Nancy, calling for her mom. It was a sound that truly tugged at the heartstrings. "Has she been crying this whole time?" I asked the person watching over her.
"Not constantly. She stops when she's tired," came the reply, making my heart sink even further. In that moment, I felt like a complete jerk for making an innocent child bear the consequences of adults' mistakes.
I pushed the door open and went
inside. Nancy's crying ceased, and she even called me "mom." But as soon as she saw my face clearly, her expression shifted to one of

anyone's heart. I moved closer, about to speak, when Nancy hugged my legs. "Sis, can you take me to replace my mom, please?"
I stroked her head. "Alright." Nancy clung tighter to my legs. Just as I bent down to lift her up, the sound of a scuffle erupted outside, followed by several figures in black barging in.
