She recalled the words Susanna had told her that day. Zachary would grant her every request; a single phone call from her was all it took to summon him away. Lenora immediately hit the reject button and put down her phone.
Yet, within two seconds, the phone rang again. Lenora bit the decline button once more.
She feared Susanna would only continue to call.
Lenora promptly erased the two call logs and turned off Zachary's phone, placing it back where it belonged.
Soon, Zachary pushed the door open and entered from the outside. He sat down across from Lenora and continued his meal, oblivious to anything amiss.
After a short while, Zachary noticed that Lenora hadn't really touched the food on the table anymore. "Are you done eating? How about trying the dessert from this place?" he asked. "All right." Lenora called the waiter over once again. She flipped through the menu and ordered a couple of desserts.
The waiter left, menu in hand.

Suddenly, the door to the private room was forcefully swung open.
Lenora and Zachary both looked up, only to realize that the person standing at the door wasn't a waiter, but Charles.
"Charles, what brings you here?" Zachary asked. "Why don't you sit down and have something to eat?"
"Eat? You still have an appetite?" Charles stormed over, enraged. "You sure are living the high life, even having a candlelit dinner. Do you have any idea what's happening outside?" "What happened?" Zachary asked, setting down his knife and fork with a furrowed brow.
"When Susanna was filming, a crew member made a mistake and got her trapped in a fire, and she suffered severe burns. The situation outside is so chaotic, and you're still here eating? Why didn't you answer your phone when I called?" demanded Charles Severe burns?
-Upon hearing the news, Lenora turned pale.
Was that the phone call just now?
A flicker of unease rose within Lenora's heart. She turned to Charles and said, "Mr. Lother, please try to remain calm. Ms. Carston must have been taken to the hospital after her burn injury, right? What we should be waiting for now is news from the operating room, not to blame Zack

Lenora didn't want to hold back anymore. She was jealous, so jealous that she was nearly losing her mind.
Let me play the role of a cold-hearted villainess just this once
All she wanted was for Zachary to be completely hers for that day.
to attend
Zachary halted and turned to look at her. "I'm aware of the significance of today. However, I have to to Susanna, who's seriously injured."
He continued walking outside.
"Zachary! Are you really leaving?
Zachary did not halt.
"Fine, Zachary," Lenora declared, her voice unwavering. "If you walk out that door today, there will be no future for us. Her gaze was steady, burning into his retreating figure, her words raw and unfiltered.. Zachary hesitated for a moment, but he strode away under Lenora's watchful gaze.
As she watched his figure disappear from her sight, Lenora felt all strength drain from her body. She leaned heavily on the table to steady herself, a sense of atter desolation reflected in her eyes, In the end, he still left.
She used their future together as a threat, but he still chose to leave.
So it turned out that the harmony of the past days was nothing more than an illusion.
Between her and Susanna, he still chose Susanna without any hesitation.
"Let's go, stop pretending. What's with the drama, you home-wrecker? Susanna is still lying in the hospital," Charles muttered.
With a swift motion, Lenora mustered all her strength to slap Charles.
Dazed, Charles clutched his struck check, seething, "Have you lost your mind? Don't think that just because Zachary spoils you, I won't dare to retaliate!"
"Even if you kill me, I have to speak my truth. Susanna is a homewrecker, an interloper who destroys other people's families. I am the one who is legally married to Zachary, the one protected by law as his wife!"
With a sweeping gesture, Lenora knocked the square box off the table. It hit the floor with a thud, spilling its contents. The bangle inside broke into three pieces as it tumbled out.
Lenora grabbed her purse and phone, then turned around to leave.
Catching up from behind, Charles asked, "What did you just say? Repeat that."
Lenora remained silent, stepping out of the grand entrance of Dreamworth Restaurant. She chose a random direction and started walking.
Charles followed behind her, asking. "Where are you headed? Let me take you home."

"No thanks!"
"No, I must escort you home." Charles stepped forward grasping her arm.
Lenora suddenly pushed him away, her voice hoarse as she roared, "Get lost!"
Charles was taken aback.
At some point, her eyes had turned a stark shade of red, her face glistening with tears, her vision blurred by overwhelming emotion.
She shouted furiously, word by word, "You're all birds of a feather! Stay away from me!"
After speaking. Lenora turned around and left.
Charles stood still, not pursuing her any further.
Up until then, Lenora's mind was still a complete blank
She stumbled forward aimlessly, oblivious to where she was heading.
Susanna had been right.
Lenora hadn't bet with her, because she knew it was a gamble she was bound to lose.
On the day of her wedding anniversary with Zachary, he still went to see Susanna. His eyes were filled only with Susanna, oblivious to the humiliation Lenora faced from his own friends. She had lost, completely and utterly.
What a joke!
Just a few days ago, Zachary was still frequently mentioning his grandfather's promise, but today, he seemed to have completely put it out of his mind.
While
hile he professed his sincere desire to be with her, he abandoned her on their wedding anniversary to meet Susanna.
As soon as Charles mentioned that Susanna had encountered trouble, he didn't even need to verify it; he was already in a hurry to leave.
His heart wasn't with her.
One could tell from that ring that perhaps, Charles' arrival simply provided him with a perfect excuse to
leave.
Some say you can tell whether a man cares about a woman by observing his friends' attitudes toward her.
Finally, Lenora understood what was happening. Zachary didn't care about her, and that's why his friends thought they could treat her with such disrespect.
Zachary cared about Susanna, hence his friends held her in high regard.
Suddenly, a forceful blow came from behind her. Lenora was knocked to the ground, and she dropped her
