Chapter 26: Honest Hearts

Lydia, seated among a group of girls, spotted me wearing Sebastian's clothes, and her gaze turned icy and resentful.

But most of the girls rose respectfully when they saw me.

"Melissa, it's been a while...

"The clothes you're wearing... I think I've seen Alpha in them before. They look just ast good on you."

"You had time for a walk today. We rarely get the chance to see you."

I could clearly feel the enthusiasm from these girls, so I interacted with them normally.

Only Lydia stood off to the side, watching me with a disdainful look. I had no intention of competing with her, so I simply gave her a polite nod and paid her no further attention.

"I honestly didn't expect you'd become the Alpha's new woman," said a woman named Jolene, propping her chin on one hand as she looked me over.

Amused, I took a teacup offered by another woman and responded with a smile. "And what exactly do you mean by 'new woman'?"

I tried to appear as though I were savoring the afternoon tea like a true noble, but I wasn't foolish enough to actually drink it.

Having experienced Courteney's tactics, I wasn't about to risk putting Sebastian in a difficult position over something like this.

"I mean, what did you do to make the Alpha throw Lydia aside?" Jolene clarified, watching me intently.

I chuckled, noticing how these women were clearly unaware of the true nature of Sebastian's relationship with Lydia. It was obvious that Lydia hadn't bothered to share the truth with them.

As I was considering how to respond, Lydia herself approached us. "Some people seem. quite pleased with themselves-but I wonder how long they can keep it up."

Her eyes were filled with anger, though she maintained a polite smile in front of the others. "I wonder if you'll ever have the chance to become Luna? Or perhaps your experience as the former Luna of the Meadows has made it all too familiar."

I hadn't expected her to mock me over that, so I looked up, shrugged indifferently, and replied, "I just realized you haven't told them the truth about your relationship with Alpha. I was considering how best to put it when you arrived."

Lydia's face darkened, but I pretended not to notice.

"Alpha is only temporarily/interested in you; his words are just to make you happy. Melissa, I still think you should know your place. We're all just prisoners of war, and if he says there's nothing between us, it's best you don't take those words too seriously." 44.7%

She tried to salvage her dignity in front of everyone.

I wanted to say something, but Phoebe subtly gestured for me to look to the side.

Standing beneath the caves was Sebastian, gazing at me with an intense, soulful look. His posture and expression revealed his exhaustion.

After offering a polite goodbye to the other women, I walked quickly toward him.

"What are you all still staring at? Do you really think that woman would allow any of you to get close to the Alpha? Look at yourselves-how ridiculous," Lydia's harsh, bitter voice echoed behind me, but I paid it no mind. Back in the bedroom with Sebastian, he finally seemed to relax a bit.

"Debra is quite the difficult woman, isn't she?" I tried to keep my voice light and cheerful, but it didn't lift his mood.

"Melissa... don't hate me because of this."

We spent the entire afternoon in that room, and Sebastian seemed almost desperate in his passion, wanting to hold me closer, wanting to enter me deeper... and in that case, it should be in this position.... I didn't know how to respond to his intense affection, so I simply did my best to match his

movements.

Yet, deep down, I felt a twinge of worry. Even though our relationship was steady for now, Sebastian's fated mate had yet to appear.

A quiet fear lingered-would he one day become like Elliott, leaving me stranded in despair?

"I know what you're afraid of, Melissa! But don't worry, I won't let anyone push you into a corner. To hell with fate-I'm willing to share my soul with you, and you alone will be my Luna."

His fevered lips kissed my most sensitive spot on my neck, while his fingers were rubbing against my hardened nub.

I was shaking all over with pleasure, my fingers twisting the sheets in a death grip.

No matter the risks, I knew I had to take a bold step forward for this new love.

Otherwise, I might regretfully wander through life, haunted by the thought of losing this

man.

The mixture of fear and happiness running through me made me shiver.

Elliott had once shattered my faith in love, yet Sebastian had rekindled my longing for hope.

Even though the future was filled with uncertainties, I was willing to try for him.

After we made love, he seriously told me stories about Debra and his brothers.

I realized Debra wouldn't pass up any chance to meet with me.

From Sebastian's description, I could tell she was a calculating woman, one who wouldn't hesitate to do whatever it took to achieve her goals.

While Sebastian had confessed his feelings and vowed to protect me, I understood I had to become strong on my own first.

There were things about the Northern Territory, and perhaps about him, that know. Now was the perfect time for us to be open with each other.

"Please trust me, Sebastian. Since I've accepted you, I'm ready to accept everything that comes with you."
