Not His Type Of Mate
Chapter 192

Alpha Leo's POV

It was finally the wedding day, and I was fully dressed, sitting in a wheelchair as I waited for the celebration to begin. "Leo, are you sure you want to do this? I don't think this is right." Ethan said to me with concern in his tone and I sighed. "I know, but I need to do this to end it all. Who knows, she might change her mind at the last minute. She might feel like she doesn't want to get married to a crippled man and run away before they bound us together. I need to know her plans, Ethan." I replied to him and smiled, but I knew he wasn't convinced at all. We were still discussing when I heard a knock on the door and I realized it was Maddison, I breathed in relief as he was truly the one I needed the most right then. "Come in." I said excitedly, and the door opened, revealing Maddison, who was already well-dressed and looking ravishing as he always did. "You look good." He commented and I smiled... He stole the word right from my mind because I wanted to say the same to him. "Well... You too, man." I said, and we both laughed.

He walked over to my side and sat on the edge of my bed. "What are your plans, Leo? Are you really going ahead with this wedding? If I remember well, this wasn't our plan, You know? Having you a single man today and a married man the next, Oops! I still can't get used to it." He joked and I chuckled. "She is my mate, and I don't think I have a way out of this at all. I didn't expect her to accept my proposal, but she did and there's nothing else I can do about it. But then, who knows, she might change her mind if she sees me later in this wheelchair." I said to him, but he shook his head and crossed his arms. "I don't think that will be the case at all. You should have seen the way she looked so excited when I saw her this morning. Nora even went to meet her not too long ago, and she was on about how happy she was, how she kept saying exciting things, and how nervous she was about the success of the wedding. The lady is totally in love with you and won't change her mind, okay?" Maddison replied with an amused smile on his face, and I rolled my eyes at him. "But, will she really marry me? Is she serious about getting married to a crippled man?" I asked and Maddison nodded his head. "I think that's the case." He replied, and I sucked in a deep breath. "I need to see her then. I need to see her before the wedding." I said, and Maddison frowned. "Why that?" He asked curiously, and I bit my lower lip. "I need to sort something." I replied and immediately connected with Ava through the mind link.

"Let's see, Ava. We have to see before we meet the elders." I said to her. "Wh... Why?" She stuttered, and before I could reply, she appeared in my room and rushed over to me. She looked at Maddison and bowed before she finally got to me, stood in front of me, and forced out a smile. "You look good in a suit. Why don't you like wearing it when it fits you so well?" She asked and I furrowed my brows. "It's because I see suits as shit. It's too much of a work and I don't have that time." I replied and shrugged. She smiled as she sat down and made a serious face. "Why did you ask to see me? It seemed quite urgent." She asked, and I could hear the fast beating of her heart. She was scared.

I let out a deep breath and looked at Maddison, who nodded his head and left the room. "Are you really going to let this wedding take place?" I asked her and I saw her expression change to a deep frown before she nodded her head. "Of course. Today is our wedding, remember?" She asked and I nodded my head. "But can't you see my legs? Are you going to marry a man with bad legs? Why don't you think deeply before making a rash decision about your life?" I asked and she scoffed. "Is this your way of making me change my mind? If that's it, then, I'm sorry to tell you that you've failed. I'm going to marry you, and I don't care about your legs. It's you I want, Alpha Leo, and it's you I love." She declared boldly. "You are my mate, and not being able to walk doesn't make you less of the man I've always loved." She added, and I could feel the sincerity of her words so much that I knew she meant everything she said, and it moved me a great deal. I looked at her and at that moment, my view of her changed, it was like she had turned into a very beautiful angel that I found so hard to resist and even though I wanted to take my eyes away from her, I couldn't. She looked back at me and our eyes met, capturing me in those dazzling eyes of hers, and she moved closer to me, before I knew it, she captured my lips with hers and kissed me hungrily.

I responded to the kiss and kissed her back just as much as she gave me but then, I realized I had to stop because a little more than we did could make me lose control and I shouldn't do that before the wedding. I pulled away and pushed the wheelchair back to create some more space between us before looking at her. She looked back at me and smiled. "I will be leaving for now." She said and teleported away, leaving me to stare at the spot she sat down a few seconds ago. "It doesn't look like she was pretending. She meant everything she said, and she loves you a lot." Ethan said to me and I nodded my head. "That's it, the reason I must go ahead with the wedding. I will stand up during the wedding and let her know I can walk. I'm going to marry her, Ethan." I said excitedly to Ethan, who I knew would be as excited as I was as he had gotten used to Ava even before I was able to. I was still discussing with Ethan when I heard a knock on the door. "Come in." I said, and the door opened, revealing my beta who was already dressed too. He entered and bowed, "It's time. Everyone is waiting already." He said and I smiled. I had asked him to invite only a few people, and he told me that was what he did. "Okay. Let's go then." I said and dragged the wheelchair forward, but he rushed over to me and stood in front of me, ready to help me push the wheelchair, but I stopped him before he could do that. "How will you get down the stairs? I don't think you are ready to stand up now, and you've never used the wheelchair before." He said worriedly, and I smiled. "You're right and that's why I'm going to pass the back stairs. I will climb down and sit in the wheelchair again before getting out to where people would see me. Let's go." I said and we both left the room, after which we did what we planned, and we went to the party ground. Upon entering the garden, the guests that came for the wedding were all shocked to see me in a wheelchair, and none of them hid it away from me at all. They all had their mouth open as they stared at me, it seemed the view of me in a wheelchair was too much to take in, and they were shocked. I looked at them and revealed a smile, indicating that it was okay, before they all nodded their heads and sat back hesitantly.

My beta helped me push the wheelchair to the front where I patiently waited for my bride amidst the stares from the audience. A few minutes later, A gorgeously dressed Ava, beautiful and dazzling in a white wedding gown, accompanied by Nora walked toward the altar to meet me and I couldn't take my eyes off her for a second. She was smiling prettily at me and I smiled back even before I knew it. She was so beautiful that my heart started racing and right at that moment, a low musicale started, causing the mood to turn romantic and sweet. She walked over to my side and stood in front of me as the priest blessed us and we both said the vow after the priest. The wedding procession went on smoothly with no one interrupting it at all, but all that while, I couldn't take my eyes off Ava who stood beautifully at my side with a very big smile on her face as if she was the happiest on earth at the moment.

"Miss Ava, do you accept Alpha Leo as your husband for the rest of your life?" the priest asked her, and with a smile that refused to wane, she nodded her head. "Yes, I do," she replied. The priest turned to face me. "Alpha Leo, do you accept Miss Ava as your wife from now on and until death do you part?" he asked, and I sucked in a deep breath.

"Before I go ahead, there is something I must say," I said, and I saw the way Ava's face tensed. She grabbed the flowers in her hand tightly and looked at me with fear in her eyes. "Can't we talk about that when the wedding is over? Or are you still angry at me?" She asked, and I could see sweat forming on her head. I guess she thought I wanted to reject her right there, but was that something I could do? I shook my head and let out a deep breath. "I really must say this now, Ava. Don't worry; you will know how important it is after you see this," I said. Before she could say another word, I stood up from the wheelchair and took a step forward. She gasped and staggered backward. She looked at me with horror and disbelief in her eyes. "You..." She called and staggered backward again. But this time, she couldn't balance herself on time, and I had to put my quick reflexes to action to stop her from falling. "I can walk, Ava," I said to her, and she shook her head. "How... How is this possible? But you told me you can't walk; what happened?" She asked, confused and in disbelief. I knew I had to explain everything to make her understand.

I removed my hand from her waist and stood right. "I've always been fine, and nothing was wrong with my legs. I was bothered about your feelings toward me, so I decided to test you to know what you feel about me. But I didn't expect you to accept me this way. I thought you would run away if you saw me this way, and... This happened," I explained, and her eyes widened.

She searched my face for a while before she shook her head and took a few steps back. "How could you? How could you do this to me? Do you know the pain I went through thinking you were in pain because of your legs? I searched online all night to replace out how to make you happy! I would cry all day because I thought it was all my fault! But all these were part of your games? Even after you proposed to me, instead of me trying to sleep well and relax so I can look the prettiest on my wedding day, I spent the whole night searching for ways to take care of a crippled man! I was in so much pain, I was feeling guilty and sad because I kept thinking it would have been different if I had followed you there that day! I can't, I can't go ahead with this damn wedding!" She yelled, and before I could stop her, she teleported away from the wedding with tears in her eyes.
