Chapter 33 His Competitive Spirit

Henry sighed helplessly. He had no intention to go to Natalie again.

She didn’t deserve it. However, Owen had always kept his word.

If he refused to bring Natalie to his grandparents, they would really move out from the Chase residence. There was no way that he would let them go through the hassle.

Moreover, the demolition of the Shepherd residence was partly his fault. For sure, he wouldn’t let his grandparents bear the consequences in his stead.

He was also suddenly reminded that Natalie was still hanging out with Sheldon. Now, he finally had a reason to show up in front of her.

“Are you going to pick Natalie up?”

Leonard asked as he shot a mischievous look at Henry once he saw him picking up his car keys.

Henry glared at him.

“It’s not me. It’s Grandpa who told me to!”

“Oh…” Leonard answered mindlessly as he thought to himself, “Henry, you’re just being stubborn.”

After all, there was no way to

force him to go if he really didn’t want to.

Henry’s car sped along the road. Since he had someone stalking Natalie, he knew her whereabouts right away.

According to them, she was at the claw machine at the mall with Sheldon.

A claw machine? Henry thought they were way too old for that.

He snorted, yet his fists were clenched tightly.

When he arrived at the claw machine on the first floor, he saw Natalie and

Sheldon.

He just happened to have gotten a plushie from the claw machine for her. She hugged the plushie and was overjoyed.

Henry gritted his teeth, feeling extremely upset.

He couldn’t understand why she would be so happy over a plushie. Or was it because Sheldon preferred her to act like this, thus the coquettish attitude she

He knew she was skilled at pretending.

Henry had no idea what they were talking about, yet the sight of them together made him slightly uncomfortable.

With a dark expression, he approached them and mocked, “You’re still not divorced, and yet you’re already hooking up with another man in public.

“Even if you’re going to do it, aren’t you supposed to refrain from doing it in public?”

His words made Natalie freeze in an instant.

Why did she bump into him again? When was it that easy for them to cross paths in this big city? She had been bumping into him quite often lately.

“Mr. Chase, do the others know you’re this rude?” Sheldon’s good mood was ruined in an instant, too.

Natalie quickly gave him a look. She should be the one dealing with this situation.

She glanced at Henry indifferently.

“What is it?”

“Why? Did I interrupt your date?” Henry narrowed his eyes as he asked. sarcastically.

Natalie couldn’t be bothered to explain herself as well. After all, they were going to get a divorce. His thoughts no longer mattered to her.

“If there’s nothing else, go away.” Natalie didn’t hide her disdain at all.

Henry clenched his fists tightly. Did she replace him annoying? Did she want him to go that badly so she could continue her date with Sheldon?

As these thoughts crossed his mind, his tone wasn’t very pleasant either.

“I wouldn’t want to have anything to do with you. It’s Grandpa and Grandma. They want to meet you.”

Natalie’s expression softened the moment Henry brought up his grandparents.

Seeing how she didn’t respond right away, Henry continued without skipping a beat, “Don’t tell me even they can’t get you to see them.”

Natalie looked at him as she said, “I’m going.”

As long as Henry’s grandparents needed her, she would be there for them despite

granddaughter–in–law or not.

“Sheldon…” Natalie turned and looked at him.

Sheldon respected her decisions. He wouldn’t question any further as long as she had made up her mind.

Smiling gently at her, he said, “Since you’ve got things to do, you can just go ahead.

“Alright. Be careful on your way back,” Natalie reminded him.

Sheldon didn’t stay any longer. After giving her a slight nod, he turned and took his leave. She watched as he disappeared into the distance.

Staring at Natalie’s face, Henry felt somewhat upset. Thus, he didn’t sound particularly cordial.

“He’s a grown adult. There’s no way he’d get lost. Do you have to be that concerned about him?”

Natalie glanced at him, unfazed. She was determined not to argue with him.

Thus, she said airily, “Let’s go.”

Just as she was about to leave, the plushie fell from her arms. She picked it up in haste, dusting the dirt off it. Then, she took it in her arms again.

Henry started to judge her actions again.

“Isn’t it just a plushie? Is it that precious?”

“Henry, I didn’t realize you’re a chatterbox. Do you still want to visit Grandpa and Grandma?” Natalie retorted as she frowned.

However, Henry showed no signs of leaving. His gaze was suddenly fixated on the row of claw machines.

If Sheldon could do it, surely he would be able to do so, too. He just didn’t like how dear Natalie was holding the plushie.

Furthermore, he wanted to see for himself whether she would be that overjoyed if he got a plushie for her.

Well, he didn’t do it for the sake of pleasing her. He only did so because he wanted her to know he was so much better than Sheldon.

As he thought so, he immediately went up to a claw machine.

Natalie looked at him with a puzzled look.

“What are you doing?”

I’m going to show you how it’s properly done,” Henry said confidently.

He bought a couple of tokens for the claw machine.

The frown on Natalie’s face became more evident. Henry had been behaving strangely lately, which was extremely unexpected of him.

Plus, she had no idea why he was so eager to prove himself. Perhaps it was because of his competitive spirit.

Standing in front of the claw machine, Henry looked particularly confident.

Although this was his first time using a claw machine, he thought it wouldn’t be that hard. After all, all he had to do was just claw the plushie.

There was no way that this was going to be difficult.

Henry swiftly inserted the tokens and waited for the game to start. Once it started, he navigated the controls and successfully secured a plushie. A triumphant smile crept on his face.

He knew it.

Yet, the plushie fell off dramatically. It hadn’t even been three seconds after he caught it. The game was over.

Natalie couldn’t help but tighten her lips. All that show just to prove that he was an amateur as well.

Henry’s expression darkened in an instant. A wave of humiliation washed through him.

“It’s not as easy as it seems. If it’s that easy, the store would’ve already suffered immense losses.”

Henry was only more determined to salvage his pride after hearing this.

Casually, he retorted, “That was just a mistake.”
