Chapter 34 Had Enough of Pleasing Him

Natalie remained silent.

Instead, she thought to herself, “Well, if you think it’s a mistake, then so be it

Promptly after, Henry made a second attempt. Yet, the outcome was as

embarrassing as the first.

He frowned, becoming frustrated at the machine. Why was this damn machine not working for him?

Even Natalie felt embarrassed for him.

Clearing her throat, she asked, “You said your previous attempt was a mistake. How about this try?”

Henry was desperately trying to maintain his composure.

Lifting his chin proudly, he answered with defiance, “I’ve already bought the tokens. It’s only right for me to use them all, right?”

There was no way that he couldn’t succeed even once out of the ten chances he

had.

As Natalie stood beside him, she saw how Henry gradually lost his confidence. His expression was becoming more sullen over time.

Why did he have to make things difficult for himself? She simply didn’t have any faith in him.

In the end, things really turned out to be how she expected. He didn’t even manage to get a plushie after using up all ten of his tokens.

Henry looked like someone had just punched the living daylights out of him.

What made him even more humiliated was a young man beside him got a plushie for his girlfriend in just a few tries.

The man’s girlfriend squealed with bliss.

Their joy contrasted with the tension between Henry and Natalie.

Natalie rubbed her nose as things grew awkward. Little did she expect Henry to be in such a humiliating situation.

However, she thought he actually seemed more down–to–earth in this state. In fact, he even seemed quite adorable.

Henry didn’t want to stay on any longer. He shifted the topic immediately.

“Let’s go. Grandpa and Grandma are waiting.”

Natalie remained silent and followed him quietly instead.

When they arrived at the basement, she instinctively reached for the backseat door. However, Henry stopped her forcefully.

“Sit in the front seat.”

Natalie glanced over at the front seat. He had never allowed her to sit there.

Until now, she vividly remembered how he stopped her when she excitedly went for the front seat during their first date.

His tone was cold as he hissed, “You don’t deserve to sit here. Go sit at the back!”

She refused to give up during her second attempt. Thus, she tried to sit in the front seat again.

Once again, Henry stopped her. He became much harsher this time. “Natalie, if you dare to sit in the front seat, I’ll break your legs!”

Since then, she would naturally go to the backseat whenever they went out.

Yet, Henry told her to sit in the front seat today. This was so out of the ordinary.

However, at this point, Natalie no longer cared about the significance of him letting her take the front seat.

Unbothered, she said, “No need for that. I’ll just sit in the-”

Before she could even finish, Henry suddenly came forward and grabbed her. Reluctant to let him hold her, she struggled to break free. She didn’t expect the bag she had been holding would fall off.

The clothes in the bag fell out, and the baby clothes landed in their sight.

Henry was aware of it as well. He couldn’t help but frown slightly.

“Why did you buy baby clothes?”

Although he was just asking casually, Natalie couldn’t help but feel guilty. She was worried that he might replace out about her pregnancy.

She bent down quickly and put the clothes back in the bag.

“They’re for someone else?”

“Are they for Leslie?”

Henry’s memory had always been good. He still remembered Natalie accompanying Leslie for a prenatal checkup last time.

ir concern.”

After hesitating for a while, Natalie answered, “That’s none of your concern.”

Henry’s gaze subtly swept across her.

“Don’t you think you should also get some new clothes?”

Back then, he thought she always had a good sense of fashion. Why was she into loose clothing these days? It even made her look like a pregnant woman from behind.

“That doesn’t matter now.”

After all, she would soon step down from her position as his wife.

She had already contacted the lawyer to proceed with their divorce. It wouldn’t take long for him to receive the divorce papers.

Soon after, they left for the Chase residence. They didn’t exchange any small talk throughout the journey.

Henry was flustered. He had been waiting for her to explain herself regarding her relationship with the man.

Yet, she had been quiet!

Back then, he used to think she was a chatterbox. Now, when he wanted her to talk, she was behaving like a mute.

In fact, Natalie had really lost all her will to please him.

She had always been the one who took the initiative between them. After her painstaking effort, he was still as distant as ever.

Now, even if it would only take her one step to make things work for them, she was unwilling to. She had no intention to beg for a relationship.

When they arrived at the Chase residence, Owen and Moira were eating fruits on the couch.

Moira immediately greeted Natalie the moment she entered the house.

“Natalie, come and have some fruit. I remember you love cantaloupes, right?”

Natalie felt touched.

She smiled and greeted, “Grandpa, Grandma.”

“Take a seat, Natalie,” Owen urged as he pointed toward a seat beside him.

At the same time, he glared at Henry.

“You can just stand there!”

Feeling helpless, Henry forced a smile. He didn’t retort and stood obediently by the side.

At this point, his grandparents were the only ones in the entire city who dared to lecture him this way.

Natalie sat down and smiled politely at them.

“Grandpa, Grandma, what is it? Why didn’t you call me instead?”

With a solemn look on his face, Owen said, “I thought it would be better to discuss this with you in person.”

Moira nodded and continued, “We also heard about the demolition of the Shepherd residence.”

It turned out that they asked her to come over regarding this matter.

Natalie didn’t want them to feel pressured, so she said indifferently, “This isn’t at big deal. It’s just a house, a place for us to live in. Just let it be.”

Owen knew her well. Even if she felt uncomfortable, she would still force herself to pretend that she didn’t care.

This thought made him even more guilty. At the same time, his dissatisfaction with Henry soared.

He shot a look at Henry.

“It’s all because of that brat! How did I raise such a grandson?”

“Henry, are you not going to apologize to Natalie?” Moira reprimanded as she. glared at him.

Henry would never apologize first. Natalie knew him well. Moreover, she didn’t want his grandparents to argue with him for her sake.

Thus, she said, “Grandpa, Grandma, it’s fine. Let’s just let this matter pass.”

“Look at Natalie! You should really have a look in the mirror,” Moira said, scoffing at Henry.

She swiftly took a document beside her and handed it to Natalie.

“Natalie, if you don’t want to make us feel bad about it, please accept this.”
