Omega Lost
Chapter 28

**Sebastian**

I search the bags of stuff we got today and grab the powdered formula Aria bought and a bottle and take it over to the sink. Setting everything down I turn the kitchen tap on and quickly wash the bottle just to be safe and read the mix instructions on the formula container. This isn't my first time making a bottle, so it's not too difficult.

My father didn't want our mother breastfeeding us even in wolf form, so I made bottles for all of my siblings at some point even to just help Mom. She got really sick with Benjamin and had a hard time recovering so I helped her with him as much as I could. I also would volunteer at the orphanage here so that the caretakers didn't become too overwhelmed. There are a lot of kids there for one reason or another, but many lost their parents during the time we were against the Beachwear Pack.

We lost at least a hundred pack members until my father and Samuel came to an agreement. They had a mutual enemy, and that was enough to get them to stop fighting each other. All of this has led me to the point where I can make a bottle for my...son. Fuck that's weird. Of course, I knew at some point I would have children but raising another man's child hadn't been what I thought would happen. Still, I'm not worried. He's Elena's and she's mine so by extension he is my son, and I will treat him as such.

"He's darling," Mom says.

I'm not sure when she walked into the kitchen.

"He is," I tell her.

She's quiet after that for long enough that I look at her. She's looking at Eli with a weird expression on her face.

"What's wrong?" I ask her.

"I don't know. It's strange. He's so calm with us. Elena also seems fine giving him up to be held by others." She says shaking her head.

"So?" I ask and her eyes meet mine.

"I never let anyone touch any of you for a long time after you were born. The urge to protect our young is so strong that anyone seems like a threat." She says quietly.

"It's because Eli isn't my son." My head snaps up to see Elena standing near the dining table. "I...found him. My wolf urged me to protect him, so I took him. No one came for him and he was alone. It was instinct. Also, it's not that I don't feel protective of him...it's just...you don't pose a threat to him and he deserves a family."

My mom's face flushes and she lowers her head in reverence to Elena. She is showing respect to her as the future Luna, but Elena doesn't seem to realize it.

"I'm sorry I didn't;t mean to suggest that you were an unfit mother. It was very kind of you to help him. He is clean and safe which is because of you." My mother says in a submissive tone.

I'm not used to my mother being so submissive to anyone other than my father and me. It's odd but I know it's necessary.

Elena smiles at her. “I understand. I'm young and have no experience with raising young. He is a good baby and a playful but smart pup. He hasn't given me any trouble, so caring for him has been easy." Her eyes soften when she looks at Eli. She is his mother no matter his birth. My mother hands him over to her and she cradles him to her. His little hand grabs onto her shirt and he hurries his face against her chest. The wolf in me sees her as a perfect mate at this moment. She is willing to care for a child, not her own means she has a kind and warm heart. Just what every Luna ought to be.

"You are good with him. Seeing you two together...no one would question that he is not your blood." My mom says taking the words out of my mouth.

"Thank you. I hope you will help me improve." Elena says giving my mom a sweet smile.

"Of course." My mom says lowering her head to Elena again.

"Why do you keep lowering your head to me?" She asks.

My mom shuffles uncomfortably. "You are to be the future Luna. It's respectful especially when I have offended you."

My chest tightens but I don't speak up. Instead, I watch to see what Elena does. When I glance toward the living room I notice my siblings watching as well. They will follow my mother's example. Elena doesn't know it but this is a defining moment. If she decides to take on a sterner presence as Luna I will have to respect her wishes. I am lenient with my family because I care for them too much to treat them as something below me, but my Luna will have to make her own stand known to the pack.

So I wait and watch.

Elena's eyebrows furrow. "I don't want you to lower your head to me, and you didn't offend me. You have every right to worry, and I hope you continue to tell me if you think I am not doing something right. You have many years of experience in raising children, so I could use your help. Please...don't lower your head to me."

My mom's body relaxes. "How should I address you?"

"Whatever you would like. Just...be yourself like how you were when we first arrived. You are Sebastain's family, and you should feel comfortable here as before. I am a newcomer. I should ask you how you would like to be addressed." Elena says.

"Call me Emily." My mom says stepping toward Elena and taking her hand. "Maybe one day you will call me mom too, but when you're ready."

Elena swallows and nods. "Thank you, Emily."

My mom pulls her into a small hug being careful not to squish Eli.

I let out a breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding. When my mom breaks the hug she gives her free hand a squeeze.

"We'll leave you guys to get settled but I hope we can see you guys for dinner soon. Okay?" She glances over her shoulder at me and I nod. "Of course Mom."

"Wait!" Ava runs over to Elena stopping next to her. "Let me put our numbers into your phone. Then you can call and text us. We're sisters now."

Elena's eyes widen a little but she pulls the new phone I gave her out of her pocket and hands it to my sister. My sister quickly adds their numbers and passes the phone back.

"I know I'm only seventeen but I hope we can be friends." She says with a wide excited smile.

"Of course. And I'm only a year older than you, so it's not as if I'm too old to be your friend." Elena tells her.

"Age doesn't matter when it comes to friendship among family." My sister Stella adds.

"Agreed. Now get out so I can feed the baby." I say playfully cutting in.

My sisters scowl at me. "Don't even think about hogging her Seb. She's ours too." Ava says popping a hip out like a defiant teenager.

"She's mine, but I will allow you time with her. Later...now shoo." I heard them toward the door with promises to call and have them over soon.

This has been a lot for one day, and I'm exhausted so Elena must be even more so. Once I close the door I turn and face her. She has a look on her face like she doesn't approve of what I've just done. "What?" I ask innocently.

She shakes her head and walks toward the couch. "You didn't have to kick them out. They wanted to stay, you could see it."

"Yeah well they never would have left and you need rest. It's been a long day." I tell her before sitting next to her on the couch and handing her the bottle. "Why don't you feed him and I'll grab my laptop so you can shop for the last few things you wanted that we couldn't get today. Most places have two-day shipping so it shouldn't take long for the stuff to get here. If you need something specific I can send someone to pick it up for you."

She nods. "Thank you, but I was wondering..."

"What?" I can't help but get excited for her to ask me for something.

"Can you show me how to work the TV?" She blushes a little at the small request.

"Of course." I grab the remote and try not to feel too disappointed that this is all she wants.

My instincts are screaming at me to do more...give more, but this is what she asks for. She is definitely nothing like I expected my Omega would be like.
