Omega Lost
Chapter 29

**Elena**

Eli takes the bottle Sebastian made easily and subsequently passes out. Sebastian followed me as I carried him to his new room and laid him down. We stood by the crib watching him for a minute more before quietly leaving and closing the door behind us. Sebastian had grabbed a tiny TV thing that shows Eli sleeping.

"What's that?" I ask him as he leads me back downstairs.

"A baby monitor. It's a camera where we can watch and listen to Eli as he sleeps. That way if he wakes up we can hear him even if we're farther away in the house." He explains. "Wow, that's pretty cool."

I'm not sure what we do now, but Sebastian is leading me along with his hand on my lower back so I go along with him. We go back to the couch and I sit back where I had been before. There is something playing on the TV now and my eyes try to take in everything flashing on the screen. The people are dressed in clothes that are not modern and there is a soft piano song playing as a few of the characters speak to each other.

"What is this?" I ask him keeping my eyes fixed on the screen so I don't miss anything.

"It's one of my sister's favorites. They must have been watching it earlier, so it picked up where it left off." He grabs the remote like he's about to change it.

"Wait! I'd like to watch if that's okay."

"Sure. I'll start it over for you." He presses a few buttons and the scene changes.

There is a nice piano playing and one of the characters I was watching a moment ago is walking in a green field reading a book. She looks very interested and for some reason I replace myself watching her carefully. "I'll get us some dinner while you watch," Sebastian says and I nod but I keep my eyes on the screen.

I'm not sure how long I watch but it seems like there is a group of wealthy people who think her town is poor and uncivilized. One of the men is rude and who I assume is the main character doesn't seem to like him. Her sister on the other hand seems to really like the rude guy's friend. Her mom keeps talking about them getting married even though I didn't hear any provision or mention of it from the guy. Maybe it happened off-screen.

"Okay, I'm having some pizza delivered. Normally I would go to the main house for dinner, but I'm not sure if that would be too much for you right now." I jump a little when Sebastian starts talking but I finally turn my attention to him.

Just the mention of eating among a large number of his pack does give me anxiety. This is my first day here and I'm super tired. Like he said today has been long, and I will need a lot of mental power to deal with a bunch more people. "That sounds good." I give him a grateful smile.

His eyes are locked on me for so long that I feel a little awkward. Am I supposed to say more? Make small talk? I'm not very good at that with the fact that Omegas are supposed only to speak when spoken to and all.

"What?" I ask tucking a strand of hair behind my ears and dropping my eyes to the couch.

"I just can't believe you're...here." He says.

I lift my eyes to look at him and I can see a hint of uncertainty in his expression again.

"You brought me here," I say trying to sound playful.

His lips tip up in a smile. "I did. I just..." He threads his fingers through his hair and blows out a breath. "I had such high expectations for my Omega that I didn't think I would ever replace one I connected with. My pack has been uneasy because I hadn't chosen anyone that I couldn't put it off any longer."

"That's where you were going when I saw you the first time," I say and he nods.

"I was going to the Omega presentation to pick someone. It felt wrong like I was betraying the one I was meant to replace, but I was more worried about my pack. I'm young for an Alpha. My father didn't become Alpha until he had met my mother and was in his thirties."

"How old are you?" I ask, but it doesn't really matter.

It wasn't unusual for there to be an age difference between Omegas and their Alphas.

"Twenty-three." He says and I can't help but let my eyes widen.

"That is young." He looked so mature in his suit and the way his hair is slicked back and perfectly styled.

He chuckles. "Yeah. My father died so suddenly that I've been trying to catch up on everything as quickly as possible. He had me working at his office since I was sixteen though so I had that handled. The pack stuff though...he didn't give me much training. I think he planned on waiting until I was bonded."

I nod along, but I can't imagine the sort of pressure he must be feeling.

"But I'm glad I went."

I'm surprised by that since he made it sound like he didn't want to go. "Really?"

"If I hadn't been there I never would have seen you."

Oh...

My face flushes which seems to amuse him because he gives me a cocky smile. He knows exactly what he's doing. Jerk.

The reminder of that day causes my stomach to twist a little. I need to tell him the truth, but I'm scared. He must see the change in my mood because his playful smiling face changes into one of concern. "What's wrong?" He asks leaning closer and grabbing one of my hands in his.

"I need to tell you something, but I'm scared," I admit.

"Why?"

"I don't want you to change your mind about me. If you do then you'll send us away and I don't want Eli to be raised outside of a pack. You guys can protect him. Please don't send him away." I beg him. He shakes his head. "I won't send you guys away no matter what you say."

"You say that now but once you know..."

"Elena you're worrying me. What is it?"

I suck in a deep breath and keep my eyes on his for a moment longer hoping that this isn't the last time he'll look at me like he truly cares. Then I lower my eyes to where our hands are joined. Will he pull away from me? Will he see me differently? I haven't had a chance to show him how good of an Omega I can be. He barely knows me.

"Elena."

"I'm from an Omega School." I blurt out. "The one you were going to visit. I'm from there. I... ran away."

He's quiet so I risk looking up at him. His face had changed into something more neutral.

"You ran away? Why?" My heart aches when he lets my hands go and sits a little taller.

I knew this would make him think of me differently.

"It's hard to explain and I'm not sure if you'll believe what I'm about to tell you." I stop to see if his face changes, but it doesn't.

I just need to say it and accept whatever consequences that go with it.

"I used to have trouble sleeping and would sometimes take walks around the school late at night to help. One night I had gone down to the main level and saw two men coming out of an elevator that no one ever used because of the keypad lock on it. It was so far off to the side that I doubt anyone paid any attention to it. No one had ever walked out of it either until that night. I overheard them talking and they were wearing these lab coats. It was weird but I wasn't sure what to make of it. I went back again and one night two men carrying a large bag stepped out. It doesn't take much for me to realize there was a body in it. I was scared and didn't know what to do, so I told my roommate." I swallow a well of emotion at the reminder of her.

Seeing her in that place...goddess I need to help her somehow.

"We got caught and the headmaster scolded us for being nosy but it was one mistake too many for my roommate and she told her she was being transferred to another location. I didn't see her again and when I saw the men carrying out another bag but smaller I knew something was really wrong. The bag was only big enough for a child. I was scared and knew I needed to escape and tell someone what was going on."

I'm scared to go on, but a small part of me says I have to. If I don't we can never move forward.
