Omega Lost -
Chapter 40
**Elena**
Sebastian and Miles continue discussing the possible reasons why the company they are trying to buy is not willing to accept their generous offer. I'm not familiar with how to use his computer, but I'm a quick learner and saw how he moved to the next page when I needed to see more. So I slide my finger across the small square at the bottom of the keys, but nothing happens. I don't want to interrupt them again so I continue looking through the financial information in front of
me.
Something catches my eye. My good memory allows me to pick up patterns and I know I've seen the same charges on the previous page. Payments were made to a company called Stanton Health Clinic. The charges are the same each time and they seem to appear every other week.
"Sebastian?" I decide this might be a point of interest and worth interrupting them for.
"Yes?" He doesn't sound upset by my stopping their conversation, so I push on.
"There's a reoccurring charge here that might be helpful. Every other week they are paying the same amount to a Stanton Health Clinic. Can we replace out what sort of facility it is?" I ask pointing to the charges.
Sebastian steps behind me leaning in and practically surrounding me with his large body. My body tenses at the closeness of him. Not because I'm uncomfortable or afraid of him, but because I don't want to show a reaction to him in front of his friend. It seems inappropriate to show an intimate physical reaction in front of an audience.
"So you click on this, and type in what you want to search here." My eyes follow his every movement, studying and cataloging it all. "Here. Stanton Health Clinic."
He stands and looks at his friend. "It's a place for cancer treatments."
A look of understanding appears on his friend... Mile's face. "Who do you think it is?"
"With how hard they're fighting. I think it's the father. My guess is he doesn't have much time left and wants to leave something to his family. How he thinks a drowning business would do more than stress his family out, it's illogical to continue to keep it. With our offer, he could leave his family a good amount of money." Sebastian says.
His hand is resting on the back of the chair I'm sitting on and I can feel his thumb brushing along the back of my neck. A shiver runs down my spine and I resist melting into his touch. Why does he touch me like this when I need to act professionally? How is he so calm? Does he not feel the sparks along my skin when he touches me?
To distract myself from his ministrations I read more about the clinic on their webpage. Wait...
"Sebastian. This clinic treats...children." A part of me cracks open at the idea of children being so sick.
For a second I try to imagine what that would be like for a parent. If Eli were ever to get that sick...he isn't even my pup but I would be heartbroken. No child should have to go through something so horrible. Except...would it even be possible for us to get cancer? Our superior genes protect us from most common illnesses, but would it protect us from cancer?
"Fuck. One of his grandkids must be sick." Miles says.
He looks gutted by this revelation. Maybe he also feels how I do, that no child should have to suffer.
"He would try harder to hold on to his company so that they can afford the care they get at the clinic. It would explain the loans as well." Sebastian says. "But we can't base our decisions on sentimentality. We can't pay off their debts and let them keep the company. We aren't in that kind of business."
I consider his words. To someone who might not have a business mind like him, they would think he sounds harsh or even cruel, but I know that's not the case. I can feel it through the bond that connects us. He feels for the family, and there is a war going on inside him. There is no doubt he could help them if he could, but his company isn't a charity. They function through a give and take. If he offers money as a gift for this family so many more will come looking. "So what would you like to do?" Miles as the question I'm also wondering.
Sebastian is quiet for a minute before walking toward the sitting area near the large window and drops onto one of the couches. I watch him drop his head back and blow out a breath. Miles and I glance at each other. Do one of us try to offer an alternate perspective, or let him work through it on his own? Miles tilts his head and makes a face I'm guessing to express some sort of silent message...a message I don't understand.
Maybe when we better know each other, but right now I'm confused. He exaggerates the head tilting and figures he wants me to talk to Sebastian. I'm not sure what help I can offer since I don't know much about this business, but maybe my presence will be enough. Deciding to try, I stand and walk over to where Sebastian is sitting and stand in front of him. I grapple with what to say when his hand wraps around my wrist and he tugs making me stumble toward him. I throw my hand out to stop myself from falling on him but one of my knees ends up on one side of him. Our faces are so close...
Why is he doing this?
"I'll give you some time," Miles says from behind me, but Sebastian and I are locked in a stare-off.
His expression is so intense that my heart kicks into a run while I wait to see what he'll do. My eyes slide to his mouth and I feel an intense urge to kiss him, but I don't know if that's what he wants so I don't move. We stay like that and I start to feel like I should move away, so I use the leverage of my knee on the couch and push slightly away with my hand. I don't get far because he is still holding onto my other wrist.
I blink down at him in confusion. He takes my hand and rests it on his chest and releases me before sliding his hand around my waist. His other hand mirrors it on the other side of my waist and he uses his hold on me to pull me down onto his lap. My legs are now on either side of him and we're lined up in a way that one shift of his hips sensation spreads from between my legs through my whole body. I shutter at the simple moment and my breaths start to come quicker making me feel lightheaded.
"Sebastian..."
His chest vibrates with a subtle purring sound. "I love the way you say my name."
Did I say it in a different way? I didn't mean to.
"Elena." His voice comes out in a low whisper.
Oh...is that what he means? The way he says my name sends a shiver along my skin making me gap. One of his hands moves from my waist to my hip and his other moves to the side of my neck. His
"I can't be near you and not touch you. It feels like my body is itching when I don't feel you against me." He says and heat builds inside me at his words.
Does he really mean that?
"Really?" I ask.
He nods and then slams his lips against mine. My lips part and I melt against him when he deepens the kiss. We shouldn't be doing this here. Right? I mean this is his place of work and there are people right outside, but it's as if he has possessed me. I can't pull away. When he breaks our kiss and his lips travel down the side of my neck my body starts to move without my consent. I start to move over his lap looking for...something...relief. I'm aching for it. "Fuck." His voice sounds strained and the hand on my hip tightens. "I have to be inside you."
My eyes widen. "We can't. There are people out there. They'll hear us."
He smirks. "My office is soundproof."
Why on earth would he do that? A dark thought flashes through my mind and I go very still. His forehead furrows in confusion. He must feel a shift in my emotions. "Elena?"
"Did you...with someone in here? Is that why it's soundproof?" I ask feeling a little sick to my stomach.
His eyes widen and he cups my face. "No. That's not it. I swear Elena. It's soundproof because I like to keep my business calls as private as possible. I trust my employees but I take confidentiality very seriously."
Oh.
