Cass caught up with me as I headed toward the families. guess he had been in the car behind us but I was too busy to notice. I was thankful he was. My hands were so sweaty, and my mouth was so dry

I could barely focus on the people around the bodies that they had put on low podiums with a few chairs around them. The family could sit with them until it was time to bury them, and friends could swing by to say their good-byes. Birth and death always brought everyone together. "You got this, Luna! Just talk to them like you would family or friends when something bad happens." He linked his arm with mine helping calm the nervous butterflies in the pit of my stomach.

"I don't even know their names. Their names, Cass. What kind of Luna am I?" I started to spiral thinking of everything I didn't know about therm. "I am going to make their families feel like they aren't important to us and they are. Every pack member is!"

"Breath and just focus. I can tell you everything. You have had so much on your plate and the pack gets that." I nodded for him to continue as I focused on my breathing." The guards were Kyle and Trevor. Kyle just found his mate six months ago in the same pack mine is at. He brought her here instantly. Trevor has had his mate for six years and they have three kids. The rest of the group is family. I will introduce you to them."

"Thank you. And while my mind is on it your mate must come here. Call or text him that he is welcome to the pack!

Just tell me what needs to happen to get him here."

"I will but for now let me introduce you to the warriors' mothers."

We had finally gotten close enough for them to notice us.

They all looked at me with tears on their faces. A few had more anger than anything and I deserved that. I should have stepped in sooner. I shouldn't have held back. I am-was stronger than them. I should have done better.

"Hello, Mary. June. This is the Luna." Cass shook both their hands when they walked toward us.

"We know who she is, Cass. We aren't so old we have forgotten the important stuff." Mary patted Cass on the arm. "It is nice to meet you in person."

"Yea, finally. All it took was the death of some of our family.

"One of the men in the group mumbled not so quietly.

"Hush it. You show your Luna some respect." June growled in reply sending the group into shock. "She didn't do anything wrong. She has saved us time and time again when she didn't have too. Your just pissed she can outrun you in the training." Cass laughed unable to hide his smile. "She can outrun most everyone."

Instant red, embarrassed cheeks. "I just wanted to get better and do better by my pack. I am sorry I haven't made the rounds to get to know everyone. That is on me and I am so sorry."

"Nonsense." Mary grabbed my outreached hand and pulled me into a hug. "You are amazing and don't let men who can't handle competition bother you."

I pulled back and thanked her before giving my condolences to the rest of the family. The men's mates hadn't moved from their bodies so I moved to sit between them. I held their hands and told them what happened.

"Your mates saved several of the pack including myself and your beta here. We were attacked by rogues, and they never let them break the line. I am sorry that by being with us today it caused them to leave you forever. I won't ever forgive myself. I did kill one of the wolves that had taken them down and made him feel what they did."

"Thank you for taking the time to come sit with us and tell us about our mates last few minutes. It means the world to me." One of their mates stated without looking away from her mate. "I am not mad at you. I do not blame you. I blame that stit head person who paid these rogues off that caused them to get hurt. I blame whoever started this war on the royals because so many of us will lose our mates, children their parents, and what is the reason? So they can be in charge and change a few laws. It is stupid." "I agree with her, Luna." The other mate stated looking over at me. "My children are going to suffer because some Alpha wants to be able to ruin families and turn law into chaos. I hate them. I can't wait for you to kill them one by one until the only thing left is their children who will be taken in by better wolves and parents to raise them right.

Thank you for taking out one of the wolves who took away our loves and thank you for having the balls to tell the truth on what happened even if it didn't put you in the best light."

I nodded and waited. The man who stated his opinion earlier started nodded at me which I took as an apology before starting in on a story about the guys growing up together and how much trouble they always got in even if there was a five year age gap. It was like a gate was opened sending out stories from everyone and each story healed your heart a bit. This was what I had hoped for and it was better than words. These two families lost someone important today but in the end they were getting closer and stronger together instead of letting them use the pain to weaken themselves.

'Gemma, We need you in the dungeons. We have learned a few interesting things and need to hear your thoughts on it:' Duncan linked.

'Be there in a minute.' I linked back slowly standing up.

"Thank you all for letting me listen to your stories. These men were amazing and I feel so much closer to them." I smiled and put my hands in my pockets. "Duty calls so I will see you tonight for the burial. If you need anything and I mean anything let me or Cass know." Cass took over letting me sneak out before I got caught up again. Thank goodness because I was almost out of tears but not sadness.
