One Girl Two Mates
Chapter 17

Once we reached the pack house Diego let me off his back gently. He quickly changed back into his shorts and shoes without a care in the world. Seeing him naked briefly still caused me to blush.

"Finally." Edith huffed as she sat on the front steps.

"Follow me to my office." Diego grabbed my hand and led us up the stairs. Once we were in the safety of his office he pulled me to sit on his lap behind his desk like he always did. Marjorie and Edith both took a seat in the empty chairs across from us. They glanced at us, almost as if they were trying to decide where to start. Anxiety rolled in my tummy as I anticipated their words.

"How much do you two know about the white wolf?" Edith asked us.

"That it's rare, born every one hundred and fifty years. Born of vampire and werewolf royalty and it can have special powers." I spoke up before Diego could protest. His arm tightened around me.

"That's all you know? Do you know why the white wolf was created?" Marjorie asked, I shook my head slowly in response.

"Well buckle up because it's a long story." Edith huffed as she settled more into her chair. Marjorie sent her a look of mild annoyance.

"What do you know about the Goddess'?" Marjorie asked, turning her attention back to Diego and I.

"I know each race has their own Goddess. Wolves have Selene, vampires have Lilith, witches have Hecate, and humans have Gaia." Marjorie nodded, a proud smile played on her lips. "Do you know why wolves and vampires hate each other so much?" Marjorie asked, leaning forward slightly. I looked over my shoulder at Diego, he was staring intently at Marjorie. "No actually, I don't."

"Well as you know Gaia created Eve in her image and gave her Adam so she wouldn't be lonely." I nodded my head.

"What you may not know is that Lilith fell in love with Adam." A gasp left my lips.

"Yes, the Goddess of the night fell in love with a human man, but he didn't return her feelings. She used her powers of persuasion to seduce him, causing her to become pregnant." I was on the edge of Diego's lap, fully enthralled in her story. "Once Adam realized what he'd done he left her to return to Eve. Now one thing to know is that Goddess pregnancies are longer than human pregnancies. They're essentially creating a half god, which takes time." Edith sighed and picked at her nails, Marjorie sent her a look that said 'can you stop'.

"So while Lilith was pregnant, Selene also became pregnant. She had fallen in love with one of Adam's children, Conri. Lilith was so jealous of their love that when she saw them together she cursed their child. That's what created the first werewolf. In retaliation Selene cursed Lilith's child, creating the first vampire."

"What does that have to do with the white wolf?" Diego said with a raised brow and mild annoyance.

"The white wolf was created to unite the races and bring us back into peace." Edith grumbled

"And how does that put the white wolf in danger?" He asked, causing Edith and Marjorie to share a look. Edith sat up straighter in her chair, leaning towards us slightly.

"The white wolf is very valuable and very powerful, with the wrong influence they can be corrupted." Edith and Marjorie shared a glance once again, my stomach turned with uneasiness.

"Why do I feel like you're leaving something out?" My brows pulled together.

"The white wolf is like an untapped power source, almost like a battery. There are beings out there that want to use that power source to make themselves stronger." Marjorie said as she looked me in the eye.

"Oh for f**k's sake Mar, tell her!" Edith exclaimed.

"Tell me what?" I glanced back and forth between them.

"There is a rogue wolf that wants to sacrifice you to resurrect his dead mate." The room fell silent at Marjorie's words.

"I'll f*****g kill him." Diego growled as he held me close.

"Why do you want to help me?" I asked, staring at them.

"We don't want to see the world fall into chaos." Marjorie spoke, sending Edith a look. I feel like there's more to why they want to help me, but I'll question them later.

"Where's your second mate?" Diego and I both tensed at Edith's question.

"What do you mean?" Diego asked, keeping up a poker face.

"You know I can see right through your lies?" Marjorie raised her brow at Diego, challenging him.

"He's not here, it's a long story." I quickly interjected.

"Well I don't care how long the story is, you need him." Edith huffed at me.

"What Edith is trying to say is that you need to be marked and mated by both of your mates to reach your full potential." Marjorie said nicely, smiling at me.

"Oh, uh, I-I'm not ready for that." I stuttered at the idea of accepting both of them and what that entails.

"I don't care if you're not ready! I don't want our world to collapse!" Edith shot up out of her seat, leaning over the desk as she yelled at me. Diego growled threateningly next to me.

"Edith, enough!" Marjorie grasped Edith's upper arm and tugged her backwards. Edith yanked her arm from Marjorie's hold and stormed towards the door, leaving us in awkward silence.

"I apologize for her, she has a lot on her mind right now." Marjorie bowed her head respectfully.

"She needs to watch the way she talks to my mate, she can't pressure her into something she doesn't want to do." Diego growled, gripping me tightly.

"Yes, I understand, I'm going to go look for her." Marjorie left us in our silence, my thoughts spiraled all over the place. Am I ready to accept Rafael after what he's done? What's going to happen if I don't? Am I putting the world in danger by waiting? "Hey, come back to me." Diego murmured, kissing my forehead, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"I'm worried, Diego." I said as I laid my head on his shoulder.

"It's going to be okay, mi amor, I will always protect you." He murmured as he ran his hand through my hair.

RAFAEL POV

I looked down at the invitation in my hands trying to decide if I was hallucinating or not.

"Are you gonna go?" Santi asked as I stared at the paper in silence.

"I don't know." I gazed down at the dinner invitation from Liliana and Diego. It's been two days since I'd last seen them, two excruciating days without them. My mind and body craved them. It took all of my willpower not to run out to Dark Wood and claim them. "I think you should go." Javier spoke up, as he leaned on the pool table. I c****d my brow at him, throwing him a smirk.

"I thought they were freaks, hm?" Javier straightened up, looking away.

"I'm just saying you should go and see what they want." He grumbled, crossing his arms. Santiago glanced between us with a raised brow.

"Am I missing something?" Javier hadn't told many people that he found his mate, but I knew.

"It's nothing." Javier snapped and stormed out of my office. I let out a chuckle as I watched him leave.

"You should go." Santiago sent me an amused smile. I flipped the paper over and over in my hand.

"I haven't seen you smile in years, Rafael." I looked up at him as he gave me a sympathetic smile. Ever since I lost my parents I've felt numb and cold, cut off from everyone. When I saw Liliana, everything started to change and when I saw Diego it's like my heart started beating again. I sighed as I laid the paper on the desk in front of me.

"Just take time to think about it." Santiago smiled and patted my shoulder.

"Thank you." I responded as I watched him leave my office. My thoughts swirled around them and anxiety twisted in me. Something about my mates had me so on edge, like a nervous teenage boy. I raised a hand, tracing my lips remembering how soft Diego's felt against mine. I groaned out loud when I felt myself stiffening in my pants. Now is not the time to me thinking with your d**k, I scolded myself mentally. I rose from my chair and made my way to my bedroom. I had a dinner party to prepare for.

Standing at the front steps of the Dark Wood pack house had several emotions running through me. Javier shifted back and forth on his feet as he stood next to me. I decided to bring him along because I knew he wanted to see his mate. He tried to play it cool, but I had been smelling a female wolf on him since Lili's birthday party.

"Come on." I clapped him on the back, pulling him up the steps. Their pack house was about the same size as mine, but there's actually felt like a home. When I stepped through the front door, warmth flooded through me. I clenched my jaw as I felt tears prick the corners of my eyes. It smelled like home. Like the days my mother would cook me and my siblings breakfast when we were little. The colors and the art along the walls reminded me of our trips to Mexico.

"I'm glad you could make it." My eyes snapped up towards the doorway that led to the dining room. It felt like the world froze when I saw her, nothing else mattered. She looked stunning in her dark green satin dress. The fabric looked like it was painted onto her skin. Hugging every curve until it flared out at her mid thigh. That's when I noticed the slit that ran up her leg, it also came up to her mid thigh. It gave me a delicious few of her creamy legs that I wanted wrapped around my head. My eyes trailed up, lingering on her full breasts and the thin straps that held up the dress.

"Are you hungry?" I looked up, my eyes meeting hers. There was a look in her eyes that told me she wasn't just meaning food
