One Girl Two Mates -
Chapter 24
RAFAEL POV
I watched as Lili wandered around the garden. She began plucking out weeds and trimming dead plants. She looked so beautiful with her giant yellow sun hat and matching dress. "She's definitely going to be too tired for tonight." Diego chuckled as he nudged my shoulder.
"We should give her a massage instead." I replied as I sipped my coffee.
"That sounds like a good idea." As if Lili could sense us she turned, looking up at us as we stood at my office window. A bright smile spread across her lips and she waved at us happily. We waved back at her and watched as she got back to work. "We are so whipped." I laughed at Diego's statement.
"She says jump and I'll jump." I shrugged as we turned back to my desk.
"Back to business." Diego stated as we stood together, looking down at the maps of our packs.
"I think the house should go here." I pointed at the halfway spot between our pack houses.
"That might be too close to the river, maybe here?" He asked, pointing slightly higher.
"Perfect, she's going to be so excited." I rubbed his back gently as we looked over our plans. Diego and I decided to surprise Lili with a home of our own. At first we tried to come up with a schedule of sharing Lili, but soon realized that we didn't want to be apart. The house was actually Diego's idea. He said everything would be easier if we had our own home and it was like a light bulb went off over our heads.
"Now we have to discuss the possibility of merging our packs." I said, rubbing a hand over my jaw.
"We could run them separately and then decide once we have children." He offered.
"True, if we only have one child they will be the heir to both."
"But if we have two then we'll have an heir for both packs." Diego said, finishing my unspoken thoughts.
"Perfect." I replied as I gave him a quick kiss on his lips. Deep down it still felt foreign to be this intimate with a man. It was odd getting used to the idea that I'm in love with a man and a woman.
"Are you hungry?" Diego asked, bringing my attention back to him. I checked my watch, I hadn't realized it was already lunch time already.
"Sure, Lili's probably already waiting for us." We continued our plans for the house in hushed tones as we made our way down the stairs. At this time of day the pack house was exploding with activity. I received strange stares from several pack members. I thought it was odd at first until I realized it's been years since they'd seen a smile on my face. I'm sure it's also strange that their Alpha is mated to a man and a woman. Being gay isn't uncommon amongst wolves. However my father was a very oppressive man. He shunned humans, vampires, and people that loved the same s*x. I'm sure there's better terms, but I have no idea what they are. I'd have to ask Diego sometime. I was laughing at something Diego said as we stepped into the dining hall. I felt a slight disappointment when Lili wasn't waiting to greet us.
"Could you get the Luna from the garden?" I asked the closest Omega. She was a short red head that was covered in freckles and had large brown eyes.
"Yes Alpha." She squeaked, running off to fetch my Lili. That was something I hated, pack members still feared me. When I watched them stare at me with fear it made me feel like my father. I was once like him and I prayed that when I become a father I'm nothing like him. I felt a frown tug at my lips. Since he could sense my emotions, Diego slid his hand into mine, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"Alpha, the Luna isn't in the garden." The little red head wheezed, clearly out of breath from running back. I gave Diego a questioning look.
"Maybe she's in the restroom." He squeezed my hand once again, but I felt my anxiety start to bubble. When I tried to focus on my bond with her it suddenly felt strained.
"I don't know Diego, I don't feel right." I watched his brows furrow as he concentrated on the bond with Lili. I watched panic flash in his eyes.
"Everyone search the pack house! Find our Luna!" I boomed into the open space.
LILIANA POV
My head felt strange as I sat up. There was a slight throbbing behind my eyes. Where am I? What happened? I was in the garden and then I felt someone speaking in my head. They were speaking in a strange language, all the words morphed together. It was like several voices overlapped into one. I took my time to look around and observe where I am. It looks like some kind of tent. Poorly built tent with logs and a blue tarp. I was on top of an old metal framed bed with a thin mattress. My once beautiful yellow dress was now covered in dirt and grime. My ankle was cuffed in what I assume is silver. Being a hybrid silver doesn't affect me as much as it would a full blood werewolf. Whoever chained me doesn't know I'm a hybrid or they just don't know my weaknesses. "You're awake." I heard a female voice say with a French accent. I was hopeful for a moment, thinking Marjorie was here to help me. I was surprised to see a woman that looked almost exactly like her. The only difference was that this woman had long silvery white hair. It was braided and hung around her waist.
"Who are you?" I asked wearily. I didn't like this woman, she made my skin crawl.
"I do seem to have that effect on people." She spoke, causing my brows to furrow.
"What?" I asked and she simply tapped her temple.
"I'm an Astral witch, Liliana. I am connected to the spirit, I can see right through you." A shiver ran up my spine as she peered into my eyes. Her eyes looked exactly like Marjorie's, except hers held warmth whereas this woman was cold.
"Stop comparing me to her." She snapped, causing me to flinch. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"My name is Geneviève and that witch you keep comparing me to is my incompetent daughter." A sharp gasp left my lips.
"Surely you can't be too shocked, she looks just like me." She paced the small tent as she gazed down at me.
"Why am I here?" I asked as I watched her.
"Now don't be daft, you knew we were coming." She replied in a calm tone.
"The rogue..." My words drifted off.
"Yes and do you know what he plans to do with you?" She asked as she stood before me.
"He wants to sacrifice me to bring back his mate." I snapped at her.
"He's delusional and it won't happen, my mates will save me." I continued as I snarled at her.
"I love your positive outlook, but no one's coming for you." She laughed, it was a sinister sound. I wrapped my arms around my legs, pulling them up to my chest.
"At midnight, when the moon is at its highest, your soul is going to be torn from your body." I bit my lip to stop the tears that threatened my eyes. She turned towards the opening of the tent.
"You're not going to get away with this!" I was panting, it felt like the tent was closing in on me. She turned back, looking me up and down. As her eyes met mine she just gave me a smirk. Without another word she left the tent. A scream of frustration tore from my lips. The tears I so desperately tried to hold back slipped down my cheeks like rivers. As I sobbed I remembered my powers, I can speak to my mates with my mind. I took a few calming breaths, letting the vibrations settle over my mind. I reached for them, Diego and Rafael. I pictured their smiling faces in my mind, a faint smile played on my lips. As I focused however, I couldn't reach them, like there was a barrier between us. I laid back on the thin mattress as sobs escaped my lips. I prayed to the Goddess Selene that my mates would replace me before it was too late.
