Chapter 40 Third Person POV

At the sound of snarls and growls, all anyone can truly do is watch as Ares and the Rogue battle amongst themselves to see who would be the victor over the other. "Too slow little pup" taunts the Rogue, clearly enjoying every little bit as they continue, neither one giving or submitting to the other. "Think again. Just who do you think you are anyways?" snaps Ares, getting tired of this game of

"Me? Why I'm the Rogue King. And she's my Queen" grins the wolf, his eyes never once leaving. Ares's face. Fear slowly rising to grip at his chest at the mention of the Rogue King. "Rogue King?" asks Kai, his attention now on the wolf as well. "Yes.. I'm the leader of all Rogues. Every last one of them. We bow to no one, not even to that of the Lycan King" laughs the Rogue, replaceing it very amusing as he watches the younger pups. Eyes never leaving Ares as they now stood face to face instead of fighting one another. "Err... Yet, you're trespassing. Remove your Rogues and no one has to get hurt" growls Ares, his eyes never leaving sight of the other wolf, Zeus clearly annoyed by their presence. "And if And if I refuse?" asks the King.

"Then you and your pack shall face death" answers Ares, the two of them now mere inches from one another, their eyes boring into the other as if waiting for one of them to strike once more. "Ares... ..." whimpers Athena, not wanting her mate to get hurt by the tone of his voice. "He'll be fine, love, trust him" whispers Eros, still in that protective stance as he watches, his eyes only briefly moving to look at his mate before turning his attention back to his brother and the Rogue. "Hmmm.." pausing, the Rogue King weighing out his options before smirking. "I have a better idea" and with that he moves to ram into Ares, knocking him into a tree with a yelp not fully prepared for something like that to happen to him. "ARES!" cries Athena.

Chapter 40

"FALL BACK!" shouts the King as he looks to his small group of wolves, returning his focus back to Ares who laid by the tree.

We'll t I take our leave, for now, but mark my words I'll be back and when I do, your precious Luna shall be mine" laughs the Rogue King turning as he leaves, his pack following shortly after him.

Waiting until he was gone, does Athena move to rush over, nuzzling his nose as she did. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" she asks, a bit panicked.

"I'm fine, my love..

Just a bit surprised is all" assures Ares, moving to nuzzle her in return as he moves to stand, hoping to calm her.

"And yet, we should be the one asking you that. Are you okay? Did he hurt you? You had everyone worried. When I couldn't replace you I had no choice but to contact Ares. We were so worried, what would have happened had we not been able to replace you?" remarks Eros as he moves to approach his mate and brother.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wander off. It's just.. Artemis and I hardly ever got to run back at home and with her being so fast as well as excited we sorta forgot to wait for the others. We're

sorry" admits Athena, sadly. Not wanting to cause trouble for her mates.

"Baby, I promise, we'll let you run as much as you want, when you want but please... for the sake of mind and your safety, please, please remain close to us" pleads moving to nuzzle her as well, the need to be close to her rising. Nodding, Athena moves to study her Alpha mates. Her eyes taking in the two giant black wolves before her. Both almost identical in size and color except that with Ares he was completely all black while Eros had his patch of white on his muzzle. Separating the pair. That's one way to tell them apart, muses Athena suddenly only to be pulled from her thoughts.

"Come, we should return and tell father about this. He needs to be made aware of what just happened so that we can prevent future happenings" remarks Ares, moving to face the direction. they had come moments ago knowing the pack needed to know, "Agreed. Who knows when he'll return" grumbles Eros, as we all move to leave. A sense of uneasiness lingering as they did as no one has ever encountered the Rogue King before and now worried there was something else going on far greater than they realized. "We must tell them of our past' whispers Artemis.

"But.. tries Athena to her wolf. Hoping there was another way out of sharing her past with everyone, not ready to relieve the pain of losing her family. Chapter 40

Approaching the treeline, docs Athena and Eros move to retrieve their clothes. Kai and the others. doing the same as Ares stayed in his wolf form. Once dressed does Athena move to return only to see Ares still as Zeus. why haven't you shifted yet?" questioned Athena, her hand moving to play with his fur, earning her a small purr of happiness. "... Might have shredded my clothes from earlier in my haste to get to you. Don't worry, I'll return to the room shortly to change and meet up with you over at my father's office. Eros and the others will show you the way" admits Ares, before dashing off for the pack house. Blinking, Athena moves to watch her him" chuckles Eros.

"I know.. And And It's foolish of me to worry but seeing the Rogue King and hearing what he had to say to me makes me question my role in life. Like why did the Moon Goddess do this? Why am I any different than you or Maya? I just wish I knew the answer to that" admits Athena, now questioning her very existence.

now.. Don't go focusing on the what ifs, try focusing on the here and now. Trust in our Moon. Goddess and together we'll figure it out. Okay?" replies Eros, kissing her shoulder as he did.

"Your right" whispers Athena, relishing in his embrace, his touch easing all her worries the longer she stayed like that.

"Sorry to interrupt your precious little moment, but we really should be going" taunts Kai teasingly. Earning him a growl from Eros and a blush from Athena.

"Okay fine" and just like that they move to head for the pack house and to where the Alpha's office was.

-Alarick's Office-

"I can assure you Alpha Frost, that our packs are still good with the treaty" replies Alarick over the phone, having been talking to the Alpha of Nightshade. His son having found his mate at the 3/5 Chapter 40

Just then there's a knock to his door, signaling that he had a visitor.

"Alpha Frost, it would appear that I have a visitor. Please would you allow me to call you back, so that we may finish our discussion? Really, thank you" is all he says before moving to hang up his phone. Once off, does he move to address the door. "Enter."

Slowly, upon entering, Alarick sees his sons along with their mate. Their Beta, Gamma and Delta all present as well.

"Why does she want her?" asks Alarick, moving to look at Athena hoping for answers.

Sighing, Athena moves to look at the Alpha. "Maybe this will help clarify things if I share with you.

"Please.. Explain my child" replies Alarick gently, moving to sit back as he gestures to those within the room as well. "Please have a seat."

Nodding, she moves to do exactly that. "It happened when I was little" was all she says, trying to gather her thoughts before speaking once again. Hoping that what she was about to tell them, would be more than enough to shed some light on their current situation. Please, please don't hate me, is all Athena thinks her mind now at odds suddenly.
