Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 16
Mason's POV
I got ready for school in a very bad mood. How could a girl be so cold-hearted and rude? I wouldn't normally care but I don't know why her words are getting to me and making me so angry. She has accused me falsely so many times without waiting for my
explanation or replaceing out the truth. It was like she was hell-bent on replaceing the worst sides to me.
"Because you are all the same," I couldn't forget those words no matter how hard I tried. What did she mean by that and who was she comparing me to? I shook my head to get rid of those pointless and irrelevant thoughts. She wasn't worth me getting angry over. I looked towards the door when I heard someone knocking.
"Come in," I said. The door opened and Mady peered inside.
"What are you still doing? You are normally the one who gets ready before me. Your room is a mess. This is unusual," she said as she walked towards me and her eyes scanned my room.
"I'm almost done. I just need to fix this tie but it's not f*****g working," I replied fumbling with the tie in my hands.
"Are you okay? You sound angry," she said worriedly.
"I'm perfectly fine," I replied. She quickly stepped in front of me and gently took the tie.
"You are not fine. You are trembling with anger. Who made you angry? This is so unlike you," she said.
"No one," I responded, trying to take the tie from her hands but she wouldn't let me.
"Let me help you. I won't ask any more questions. I was just surprised because you are usually organized. You learned how to make your own tie when we were four," she said as she fixed it swiftly. "Your eyes are puffy. Didn't you get any sleep?" she asked again. I noticed she was done with the tie. I moved over to my disorganized table and picked out the books I will be needing.
"You said you wouldn't ask any more questions," I said to her.
"I won't after this last one. Are you like this because you saw Rachel last night?" she inquired. I zipped up my bag and turned towards her.
With a frown, I asked, "Why would it be because of Rachel?"
"Because since she arrived last night, you've been acting weird. You barely even looked at her. I was watching you throughout your interaction. Does her appearance affect you that much?" she asked.
"First of all, I don't understand what you are talking about and most important of all, she isn't so important that she would stir up any emotions in me. I'm just having a bad day. Aren't I allowed to have that without you constantly having to think it's because of someone," I replied. She stared at me skeptically.
"Calm down alright? I'm bound to think that way since the timing fits perfectly," she muttered.
"Can we just go?" I said as I walked past her out of the room.
"By the way, did you see Lexi last night? I've been calling her to know if she got home safely but she isn't picking up my calls," she said.
"I'm sure she got home safely," I answered.
"You think so?" she asked. I nodded.
"Where's Torres?" I asked, he would have been the first to barge into my room if he was still in the house.
"He left early this morning saying he would meet us at school," she replied.
"Why didn't he sleep over? He normally sleeps over," I said.
"How would I know that? When you see him at school, ask him," she said as she walked past into the waiting car. The driver started the car and we drove off.
"Did mum call you?" Mady asked, scrolling through her phone.
"Yes she did, last night but I couldn't pick up due to all the noise and loud music," I replied, turning towards her.
"Why are you looking at me like that? You also agreed to the party. Don't make it look like I agreed alone," she said.
"Agreed? Have I ever agreed to any of you and Torres's suggestions?" I inquired.
"You didn't disagree either. You could have stopped us," she responded. I scoffed in disbelief, I protested so many times saying it was a bad idea but do they ever listen to me? Of course not. Her phone suddenly started to ring.
She gasped. "It's mum." She hurriedly cleared her throat and picked it up. "Good morning mum," she said in a chirpy tone. I couldn't hear what they were discussing. All I could hear was Mady's response.
"Of course Mason and I are fine. I'm taking special care of him. You don't need to worry," she said as she winked at me with a smile. Who was taking care of who here?.
"Yes, we are on our way to school," she paused for a while and her eyes suddenly widened. "Already? I thought you were spending about a month. I'm just surprised you changed your plans," I glanced at her. What did that mean? Were they coming back? "See you soon. We miss you too. Bye," she said as she hung up.
"They are coming back next week," she said.
"You should be glad they didn't come back yesterday. You and Torres would have been in so much trouble," I replied, the car stopped and I stepped out.
"What do you mean by that? We would have been in trouble. You were in on this too. Besides, we are twins, we share everything including the blame if we would have been caught. We are two peas in a pod," she said as she hurried after me. My lips twitched in
amusement.
"Now you remember we are twins. Why do I feel like you only remember that whenever you are in trouble?" I asked.
She gasped in shock dramatically. "How could you? You just hurt my feelings."
"Bye Mady," I said as I headed towards class. Her class was in the opposite direction.
"Don't forget to say only good things about me when Mum calls you," she called out after me loudly. I smiled but my smile vanished instantly when I saw her standing in front of my locker. "Good morning," Rachel said with a smile. My eyes darted across her clothes. She was in our uniform.
"Good morning," I replied.
"Sorry for waiting in front of your locker. I just wanted to see you and I didn't want us to miss each other," she said. I nodded.
"We didn't get to speak to each other much at the party. I looked for you afterwards but you disappeared into thin air," she muttered.
"I had something to attend to," I replied curtly.
"Okay," she nodded. We stood in silence for a while.
"I'm attending your school starting today," she said excitedly.
"I can see that. Congratulations," I responded nonchalantly. Her smile fell.
"You don't seem happy to hear that," she muttered.
"Did you expect me to jump up in excitement? It's your life, if you want to attend this school, so be it," I said.
"Won't you ask me anything? It's been seven years since we last saw or spoke to each other. Aren't you curious about me at all?" she asked skeptically.
I placed my hands in my pocket with a sigh. "As you said, it's been seven years. Feels like an eternity to me and I'm sure you feel the same way. I don't think we have anything to discuss about our past lives because it's all in the past."
She smiled and c****d her head to one side, "I can see you are still as cold as ever. It's no longer a surprise, you've always been like that to everyone. That's your charm.
"Is that all you came to say? I have to get to class," I replied.
"I've been away for a very long time. Don't you miss me? For me, I miss you every day. My heart longed for you so much which was why I came back as soon as I could," she said.
"If you came back because of me, then you are probably wasting your time. You should leave now if that's really the case," I answered emotionlessly and turned around to leave. She held onto my hand to stop me. I turned towards her.
"You don't really mean that right? You are just angry with me," she smiled again. Why does she keep smiling? It was getting frustrating and annoying.
"You will be in for a huge disappointment if you stay," I said to her calmly. I heard something fall to the floor with a thud. I looked towards the direction of the sound and it was Lexi, she hurriedly bent down to pick up her fallen books. She stared at the both of us before looking down at our entwined hands. I couldn't seem to make out what she was thinking.
