Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 18
Mason's
POV
I lay down on the sofa in the gym with my eyes closed. I didn't get any sleep last night which was why I was getting drowsy. The gym was quiet at this time. People didn't normally come at this time of the day, I knew because I spent most of my free time here. I heard the door creak and someone gently making their way over. I caught a whiff of his scent immediately. It was a scent I was too used to.
"What the f**k do you want?" I asked with my eyes closed. I heard some equipment clatter noisily and I knew he must have stumbled on them.
"I thought you were sleeping?" he inquired.
"I was but you woke me up," I said, opening my eyes and raising my back from the sofa. He shoved me aside and sat beside me.
"Who sleeps like that? I couldn't even hear my own footsteps but you did," he responded.
"Your footsteps were as loud as drums to my ears. Where have you been?" I asked.
"Why? Did you miss me?" he replied with a smile.
"Never. You usually sleep at our house after parties but yesterday, you left early. Why was that?" I asked, staring at him skeptically. He looked taken aback by the question for a while before he finally answered.
"I wanted to sleep over but I had a lot of unfinished work to submit to the board. You know how they are. I couldn't afford to skip it." He was right, the board of directors all thought someone as young as him was not fit to become the chairman of the company. They looked for different ways to overthrow him but none ever worked. Torres always proved them wrong each time. That was the only thing he was perfect at.
"If you really missed me and you want me to stay over, all you have to do is admit it," he said with a smirk.
"Just stick to the company. That's the perfect place for you," I muttered. He chuckled.
"You are right. I can't imagine myself doing anything other than this," he sighed scrolling through his phone.
"You had a perfect score again. Why am I not surprised?" he asked, turning his phone towards me.
"I did?" I inquired. Not to brag but I wasn't surprised either. It was an every-year thing.
"Why are you asking me when you already know the answer? I'm certain you were sure about what you were going to get before even getting the assessment papers. I didn't even see you studying yesterday. What exactly is your brain and Mady's made of?" he inquired. My lips twitched in amusement when he mentioned Mady. She lost to me again by one point. I knew she was going to complain and whine again. It's been years since this has been going on.
"Good genes," I retorted curtly. He scoffed in disbelief.
"I saw Rachel on my way over. Did you see her too?" he asked curiously. I nodded.
"I can't believe she's back and will be attending the same school as us after so many years," he said.
"What's there not to believe? You saw her, didn't you?" I inquired.
"I did but...," he paused and turned towards me instead.
"How about you? Didn't you feel anything when you saw her?" he asked.
"What's there to feel?" I responded.
"Anger, longing, hatred, love..."
"What on earth are you going on about? Why would I feel any of those things?" I asked hurriedly cutting him off before he could complete it.
"Due to what happened in the past. Why do you keep asking me and making me explain when you already know the answer?" he asked, narrowing his eyes at me.
"Exactly. Past. The past stays in the past. You will keep on explaining as long as you keep asking irrelevant questions," I retorted.
"You haven't changed. You are still as cold and blunt as ever. You can't even sugarcoat your words. No wonder you have an anti-fan now," he tsked, shaking his head at me.
"A what?" I inquired in surprise.
"An anti-fan. I'm sure you know what that means. Someone who absolutely detests everything about you and doesn't understand why everyone praises you so much. Anyone who has fans will surely get anti-fans. And you, my friend just got yourself one. What in the world did you do to earn that?" he asked, curiosity evident in his tone.
I had no idea about this anti-fan but why do I feel like I already know who this person is going to be? I can only think of one person who wasn't scared to openly show her hatred for me. But, she wouldn't go that far or be that childish right?
"And to think I saw her at the party looking so hot. I was shocked, I never knew you were enemies. She was so nice to me. What did you do to her or did she do something to you?" he asked.
"Everything is just the way it is. She's been like that since the very first day we met," I admitted. It was really Lexi. He looked surprised but he would be shocked when he replaces out we were also mates. Mates who hated the other. The hate was coming from her side only. As for me, I didn't have the energy to hate anyone.
"This is crazy. Did you perhaps ask her about it? She must have said something right?" he replied.
I shook my head. "Not a word,"
"And you on the other hand can't avoid her because she is Mady's friend. Does Mady know? I know she would never be friends with her if she did," he said.
"She doesn't and I intend to keep it that way. I can feel Mady's genuine happiness whenever she's with her and I don't want to ruin that," I responded. I could tell they both really liked each other because they'd never been apart since they met. I didn't know if it was my imagination but she treated only me like that out of everyone in the entire school.
"Fine, I won't tell her. But, make sure you resolve any sort of misunderstandings between you two. It isn't a good idea to leave things the way it is. I will also replace out everything I can. You must have been worried because of this right? I can see the dark circles around your eyes. I'm here now and I will make sure I resolve everything," he assured, giving me a slight pat on the back.

"I'm not having sleepless nights because of this. It's not that important but how did you hear about all these things? You literally resumed today. Very late at that," I said. He smiled.
"I have my ways and it's not like this is my first day in this school. I found out from a very reliable source," he replied.
"That reminds me, you didn't take the assessment tests," I said.
"How do you expect me to take it? It's my first day in school," he retorted defensively.
"But you had the time to listen to gossip on your first day," I responded.
"It's not gossip but a fact. Facts," he said. I was about to respond when a boy suddenly came in. He stared at us with a wide smile while we looked at him, expecting him to start saying something.
"Didn't you come here to say something? Why aren't you speaking?" Torres asked.
"I'm so sorry. I just got lost for a while staring at my top two role models straight in the eye. I can't believe I'm speaking with you. It's like a dream come through," he replied excitedly. I could tell he was also a newbie. A junior one at that. "Well, this isn't a dream. Speak up before you upset your role models," Torres replied with a chuckle. The boy laughed heartily.
"As expected, you are so funny. Anyway, the principal asked me to inform you, Mason, to come to her office right away," he informed me. I frowned slightly. Why would I be needed in the principal's office? I glanced at Torres and he shrugged. "You can leave now. I will be right there," I replied.
"Before I leave, I just wanted to inform you of the great work you are doing that's inspiring a lot of young people out there. There are a lot more of us who look up to you. You shouldn't listen to what anyone says or thinks. Okay, I'm beginning to blabber too much. Bye," he said with a smile before dashing off.
"Thank you for the words of encouragement," he called out after the boy. "You heard what he said, don't listen to what anyone says about you," he repeated with a smirk.
"Shut up," I said as I stood and walked to the principal's office. I placed my hand on the doorknob wanting to turn it open while wondering why I was sent for. But, I frowned when I heard the principal discussing it with someone. What was she doing here?
