Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 21
Rachel's POV
Getting dressed, I stared at the scar on my leg. I ran my hand around it for a while before covering it with my dress. I picked up my phone and looked at Mason's number for a while.
"Should I just call him?" I muttered to myself with a smile. But, I knew he wouldn't pick up. Not if he realized it was me. I recalled the conversation between us today as I stared at his picture on my wall. He didn't change much even after seven years had passed. Even though I saw him less than five hours ago, I missed seeing his face. I decided to go over to his house instead.
I picked up my car keys and headed downstairs. I got into my car and drove towards the pack house. It took me less than ten minutes. I had purposely scouted for houses close to the pack house so I could be closer to him. The closer we were, the faster we reconciled. I knew it was going to take time and effort on my part but I hoped it didn't take too long. I am going to do anything to make sure he sees me again like he used to. I pulled my hair up into a bun and applied a shiny lip gloss. With a wide smile, I walked towards the door. I rang the doorbell and waited for it to be opened. The door suddenly opened and I was met with a maid.
"Good evening," I greeted.
"Evening?" she responded.
"You must not recognize me. I'm Mason's and Madison's friend. We go to the same school," I explained.
"Who is it?" I heard a voice ask.
"It's a young lady Luna. Apparently, she's friends with the twins," she replied.
"Let her in," she ordered. The maid opened the door wider and I stepped in. I glanced around the living room. It looked exactly the same except for some slight changes like the furniture. My gaze fell back on her. Mason's mum. "Good evening Luna," I greeted with a polite smile. I wonder if she still recognizes me. She stared at me for a while.
"It's been a long time," I said. Her eyes widened in surprise. I smiled. She seemed to have recognized me.
"Rachel? Is that you?" she asked in surprise.
"The one and only," I replied with a chuckle. She hurriedly engulfed me in a hug.
"It's been such a long time. I almost could not recognize you anymore. You've grown taller and become prettier," she said in awe.
I placed my hands on her back, hugging her back. "You flatter me, Luna."
"How about your parents? How are they? I hope they are in good health," she asked as we gently pulled away from each other.
"They are in perfect health and they send their regards," I replied.
She nodded. "How about you? Are you okay?" she asked, taking a quick look at my legs.
"I'm fine. Where is Mady?" I asked.
"She's upstairs in her room," she responded. I nodded wanting to ask Mason but I didn't know how without making my feelings too obvious. "Mason is in a meeting with his fathers," she replied to my thoughts with a smile. A meeting? How typical of him.
"I will head up to Mady's room now. Please accept this," I said, handing over the gifts I brought for her.
"You didn't have to. Your presence alone makes us all happy," she said. I smiled, I wish I could hear those words from a certain someone.
"I wasn't thought to make a visit empty-handed. Please accept them," I replied.
"If you insist then. Thank you," she said.
"I will be right back," I said heading upstairs to Mady's room.
"Take all the time you need dear," she responded, taking her seat back on the sofa. I gently knocked on Mady's door.
"Coming," she called out as I heard footsteps approaching. She pulled the door open and stared at me in surprise.
"Hi," I waved at her, laughing lightly.
"Rachel? You didn't tell me you were coming," she said, stepping out of the way to let me in. Her room was beautiful. It was painted in a light shade of pink. A queen bed that was decorated beautifully, a huge walk-in closet, and flowers. Lots of flowers. "Your room is beautiful," I said with a smile.
"Thank you," she replied. We both sat on the sofa.
"But, what's with all the flowers?" I asked in amusement.
She smiled. "They were all given to me as gifts and it would be a waste to throw them all away which is why I kept them in a safe space, here, in my room."
I nodded. We sat in silence for a while.
"So, how have you been?" I asked.
"Quit the act, Rachel. We both know you are not here because of me but you came here instead because you met mum downstairs. Am I right or am I right?" she inquired, raising a brow at me knowingly.
I blushed. "H..how can you say that? I care about you too."
"I know but you care about Mason more. Way more. I'm sure you feel something other than just care though," she replied.
"Mady!" I gasped, nudging her shoulder.
"What? It's the truth, isn't it?" she inquired.
"I won't lie, it is for me. The reason I came back was because of him," I confessed.
"Really?" she asked in surprise.
"Yes, but sadly he doesn't feel the same way. He hasn't even taken a proper look at me since I arrived," I said to her with my head bowed out of sadness.
"Did you talk to him? Have you both had any conversation?" she asked.
"Yes, but we didn't talk much. He acted coldly towards me and told me to back off. It was so heartbreaking," I sniffled. She patted my back with a sigh.
"I'm so sorry Rachel but I think these things take time. You don't expect everything to go back to how it was before. It's been a while."
"I know and I'm willing to do all it takes to make everything just as it was before," I responded, raising my head up.
"Just as it was?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at me. I chuckled.
"Maybe a bit more than it was before."
"I thought so too," she replied.
"Do you think you could speak with him on my behalf? Maybe say a word or two in my defense? That way it would be easier to get to him. I know he will listen to you," I pleaded, taking her hand in mine. She gently withdrew her hand. Before she could speak, I already knew what she was going to say.
"It's fine. Forget I said anything," I said standing up on my feet. She stood up too.
"I'm sorry but this is between the both of you. I don't want to be a third party and Mason won't like that," she replied.
"It's okay. It was stupid of me to suggest something like that anyway. I should get going now," I said.
"I will walk you to the door," she responded.
"No, it's fine. You don't have to. See you in school tomorrow," I said before dashing out. I started to head downstairs when I saw an open room. The door was slightly open so out of curiosity, I went to take a look. I pushed the already open door wider. As soon as I stepped in, Mason's scents hit my nostrils. The room smelt completely of him.
"So this is his room," I muttered, breathing deeply. "Smells nice." I glanced around and walked toward his closet. This might seem like I was invading his privacy but I was only going to take a quick look. I opened the closet and his scent was stronger there, I trailed my hands across his clothes before walking towards his bed. I was just about to sit on it when I heard footsteps approaching. I hurriedly hid behind the door.
Mason walked in and removed the jacket from his suit. He also removed the tie and his shirt. I stared at him in awe. If I thought he was still the same Mason from seven years ago, I was highly mistaken, his broad shoulders taper down to a toned waist, exuding strength, and confidence. Every movement reveals muscles shifting beneath smooth skin, hinting at his dedication to fitness. His skin was so soft, milky, and smooth that I wanted nothing more than to run my hands through them.
"How manly," I whispered to myself. I smiled when a sudden idea suddenly came to me. I tip-toed towards him carefully. He stopped stripping and was about to turn around when I suddenly pressed my body against his and covered his eyes with my hands. His body stiffened in surprise. I wanted to know if he could make out my scent, if he would be able to know it was me without hearing my voice.
