Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 20
Mason's POV
I stared at her trembling frame in surprise. I went towards her with the intent of speaking to her. I was furious but that was because she made me. So, why did she think I was going to hit her? She shielded her face so fast, it was almost natural. Like she had done it severally. She looked so scared. Her body had stopped trembling but she closed her eyes and rested her back on the wall trying to calm her breath down. "Answer me. Why did you think I was going to hit you?" I asked.
"Can you just leave me alone? I wish to be alone," she replied.
"I will after you answer my question," I said. She sighed and tried to stand on her feet but she swayed and almost fell. Luckily I caught her just in time by holding her by the hand.
"I said do not touch me. Didn't you hear me?" she asked in a rude tone, pulling her hand from mine roughly. And she was back to being her normal self. Her voice and body were more stabilized now.
"You were going to fall. I was only trying to...," I trailed off when I saw the look she was giving me. "You know what?, forget it," I said instead. From all the interactions I've had with her, I knew it was useless to explain myself. In the end, she would only believe whatever she wanted to believe.
"What do you want to say? I was about to fall. Next time, let me fall instead of being saved or touched by you, I prefer the pain that comes with falling," she responded. I placed my hands in my pocket watching her intently. I wasn't surprised by her harsh way of speaking anymore. I had gotten used to it.
"Don't avoid my question. Why did you think I was going to hit you? Why did you flinch and look so scared?" I inquired. I sincerely hoped it wasn't what I was thinking. No matter how rude and annoying she was, she didn't deserve that. Nobody did. "My life, my reactions, what I say has got nothing to do with you but if you want to hear the reason, then fine. I agree I was scared of you for a moment but who wouldn't be? When you looked like you were about to murder me at any moment. It was just a reaction to what I could feel coming from you. But not anymore. Don't make the mistake of thinking you or your actions would ever incite a reaction out of me anymore. I don't want to be scared of someone or constantly feel the need to run when that person is near," she said. When she was talking, I didn't just look at her face. I glanced around her body to replace out if I could pick up any visible signs that would confirm what I was thinking but I found none. She looked completely fine exactly like she used to be before the incident happened. I sighed in relief.
"I'm definitely not coming for the tutoring sessions," she said as she walked past me. I wanted to hold her hand to stop her and say what was on my mind but I stopped at the last minute, remembering that she had warned me severally not to touch her. I walked past her instead and stood in front of her.
"You might be rude and exceedingly annoying but I would never hit you. What I'm trying to say is, you don't have to feel scared by my presence," I said.
She scoffed. "Who said I was scared by your presence?"
"Good that we have that cleared up," I replied before heading back downstairs. Students were already trooping outside and getting into their various cars to head home. I got into mine and Mady's as well. Mady was in the car but she glared at me with her arms crossed.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked although I already knew why.
"Is it because of the results?" I inquired, resisting the urge to smile. It would only make her angrier.
"You knew yet you wanted me to say it myself," she replied, her voice hoarse.
"Did you argue with the teachers again?" I inquired. I won't be surprised if she did that again.
"Are you crazy? Why would you yell so much?" I asked.
"You know why. You promised we could do whatever I wanted for one week if I surpassed you in the tests. You did this on purpose, right? So you wouldn't have to listen to me," she responded.
"If I had failed knowingly, would that have made you happy?" I asked.
"No, of course not," she replied.
"Which is why I didn't. Quit complaining," I said leaning backwards.
"I feel so dumb," she pouted, leaning along with me.
"You feel dumb because you lost only one point? Are you sure you didn't hit your head somewhere?" I asked pulling her close and checking her head for any visible bumps.
"Cut the dramatics and don't ruffle my hair else I'm going to do that to yours too," she threatened trying to reach for my hair.
"Don't do that," I warned as we both ruffled each other's hair and tried to keep ours from the other. We struggled for a while till I heard the driver trying to stifle a laugh. "Stop. We probably look crazy," I muttered keeping my hands away from her head. I thought she was going to do the same but she pulled my hair hard one last time. "Mady!" I called out loudly.
"That is for making me feel and look dumb. Don't worry, your hair looks amazing. You look so handsome," she said as she laughed.
"Of course, I look handsome. I always look handsome," I replied with a straight face.
"I know that's true but hearing you say it is giving me goosebumps," she shuddered.
"Nobody thinks anyone with a 99% is dumb Mady and for the record, you are not dumb," I assured her.
She smiled widely. "You made me feel better."
"I'm just too perfect," I continued with a smirk.
"I take my words back," she said as the car stopped and we got out.
"Kids!" I heard Mum call out excitedly as soon as we stepped in. Our heads whipped toward the direction of her voice.
"Mum?" Mady and I both questioned at the same time. We glanced at each other.
"Why are you here? I thought you were coming back next week?" We both asked at the same time. I looked toward her, the same time she looked toward me. "Stop saying the same words as me!" We both warned each other at the same time again. I groaned.
"You kids must be really surprised," Mum said, looking amused.
"Absolutely, we are because you definitely told us you would be coming back next week," Mady replied. I decided to keep my mouth shut instead.
"Yes, I did. But, I had a sudden appointment that couldn't be canceled. Why? Aren't you happy to see me?" she asked.
"What? Of course not. Why would you say that? Welcome back mum," Mady said with a smile as she walked towards her and gave her a hug. "Welcome back," I muttered.
"Thank you, kids. You have no idea how much I missed you both," she replied.
"I missed you so much too. On that note, what did you get for me from your trip?" she asked, glancing around. Mum hit her hand lightly.
"Is that all you can ask for? Presents?" she shook her head in disbelief.
"Mum, I'm already stressed as it is," Mady whined.
"Why is my princess stressed?" We heard a voice ask behind us.
"Dad," she squealed as she ran to hug him. He twirled her around and she giggled excitedly. I shook my head at them.
"We got the results of our tests today," she started immediately he placed her down.
"Let me guess. Mason had a perfect score and you got one point less again," he said with a smile. She nodded.
"It's so unfair," she complained.
"It doesn't matter princess, yours is a perfect score too. I know exactly what can cheer you up. It's in my room," he said with a wink. She didn't wait for him to finish before dashing up to his room. "Careful Mady," Mum called out to her. I sighed. The house is going to get chaotic once again.
"Mason, what happened to your hair," she said as she walked towards me and started to fix my hair.
"Julian, where is Alex?" she asked.
"I'm right here. I was just bringing out some things from the car," he replied walking into the living room.
"Welcome back," I said to him.
"Thank you. That reminds me, I have a business partner coming in today. Get dressed and meet me in my office," he said. I nodded in response.
"Mason, come and take a look at this," Mady rushed out excitedly.
"I'm not in the mood," I replied heading into my room.
"Are you okay? Won't you have lunch?" Mum asked.
"I'm not hungry besides I need to get ready for the meeting," I responded calmly without stopping nor looking back.
