Owned By Her Triplet Bullies
(Bk 2) Chapter 27

Lexi's POV

Another day of pure t*****e in a hell-like place called school. I thought as I lay in my bed, facing my ceiling. At first, it excited me to start school and all the stuff that came with it, but after what's been happening, I realized I was terribly wrong. Maybe school wasn't meant for people like me. Should I just quit and look for a job?

"Lexi, I hope you are awake. The bus is going to be here soon," Mum called out loudly, disrupting my thoughts. I sighed. Of course, I couldn't be a drop-out. Mum and Dad would never entertain such a thing. I guess I didn't have any choice but to get ready then. I stood up from my bed and got dressed begrudgingly. I was slower than usual today because I had lost all hope in school. I didn't think I could ever get better.

I picked up my bag and dragged my feet out of the room. I walked towards Dad who was also getting ready for work.

"Good morning," I greeted him politely.

"Morning Lexi. What's wrong? You don't look fine," he asked worriedly.

"I'm fine. I was just up all night trying to study," I responded.

"That's great news. I'm sure you will ace the next tests. You should believe in yourself. Never think you can't do it and give up because we believe in you," he assured me with a smile. How did he know what I was thinking? I was on the verge of calling everything quits, but his words lifted my spirit.

"Thanks, Dad," I said thankfully.

"You are welcome, dear," he replied.

"Get going, else you will miss the bus. Here is your lunch. Call me if you need anything else," Mum said, handing me wrapped-up food.

"You woke up early to make me food again? I thought I told you to stop. You should get as much rest as you can and besides, we are given food at the cafeteria so you don't have to worry," I assured her.

"I can't get tired because I'm preparing food for you. Take it, you need to eat properly. I don't want you getting sick," she responded. I took it from her hand, mumbling a thank you. I could feel my eyes getting blurry.

"Why are you crying? Are you okay? Does it hurt anywhere?" Mum asked nervously. I shook my head.

"I'm just grateful for everything you do for me. You treat me so well and all I do is eat your food and spend your money. I can't do anything on my own. I can't even get good grades like other normal kids," I muttered, my eyes burning with the tears that were threatening to spill. "Oh Lexi," Mum sighed.

"We don't need you to be like normal kids. Being yourself makes you unique, and I told you everyone gets bad grades at a point in life. Never think you are a failure because of that," Dad consoled me. I nodded as he hugged me tightly.

"You are the greatest gift we have. If you don't spend our money and eat all our food, who else will?" he asked jokingly. I chuckled, wiping my tears with my hands.

"Enough of the tears. Your face is going to be all red. Hurry and go or the bus will leave you behind," Mum said, pulling me close and wiping my tears. She hurriedly fixed my hair.

"There, all perfect. Run along now," she said.

"Bye," I waved at them, heading out of the house.

"Bye. We love you. You've got this," they both chimed. I ran to the bus stop just as it arrived. I got in and took a seat. I smiled, holding onto my wrapped lunch dearly. I don't know what I would have done without them. I smiled widely. I have no more intent on quitting school now. My spirit has once again been lifted and I doubt anyone could change that.

I got down from the bus as soon as we arrived and walked into the hallway. I dropped the bag and the wrapped food in my locker before heading into class.

"Lexi," I heard Mady call as soon as I stepped in. I glanced towards the direction of the voice and I saw her waving at me with a smile. I walked towards the empty seat beside her and sat.

"Hi," I said cheerfully, just as the teacher walked in.

"I heard you came over yesterday. Why didn't you say anything when you called? I would have returned home sooner and we wouldn't have missed each other," she whispered.

"Silence everyone," he said as he wrote some equations on the board. I glanced at Mady, waiting for a perfect opportunity to reply.

"Mason? Can you come forward and answer question one?" he asked. I looked towards the back and saw Mason, whose head was resting on his desk. He raised his head, looking bored. I scoffed in disbelief. It must be nice being a genius. He sleeps in class all the time but still somehow gets a perfect score. On the other hand, I listen in class attentively, I do all my assignments, and read like my life depends on it when I get home. Still, I've got nothing to show for it. It was so frustrating.

He stood up and walked towards the board. With one hand in his pocket, he solved with the other.

"Mady," I whispered, and she turned towards me.

"I was already in front of your house before I called you. I thought you would be inside, but after I found out you weren't, I figured you were busy, so I didn't want to bother you," I whispered hurriedly.

"What were you saying? I didn't hear you," Mady replied.

"Lexi Jones," the teacher called out my name, startling me in the process.

"Sir?" I replied questioningly, wondering why he called.

"I said no talking, but you spoke anyway. Since you were speaking, I'm sure you know the answer to question two. Come out and answer it," he ordered. I glanced towards him and the board in shock. I don't think I've ever seen that equation in my entire life before, so how was I supposed to solve it?

"We are all waiting. Don't waste our time," he said sternly. I gulped slowly, standing up from my seat. I walked as slowly as possible towards the board, but to my disappointment, I was in front of the board in no time. I picked up a chalk with trembling hands and stared at the equation again. No matter how hard I looked, it kept looking stranger. I glanced towards Mason and he was still writing with a focused expression.

"Mason," I called out to him in a whisper. He glanced at me, but his hand never stopped. I looked at his question, but it differed totally from mine. I decided to swallow my pride just this once to avoid getting humiliated in front of everyone. He raised his brow, expecting me to continue speaking. I took a deep breath.

"Help me with this question.... please?" I pleaded through gritted teeth. He smirked and stopped writing. I heaved a sigh of relief, thinking he was going to help me out.

"I'm done," he said to the teacher, dropping his chalk and walking back to his seat.

"You still haven't written anything. Why don't I replace that surprising?" the teacher shook his head at me. The students snickered.

"I will do it in her stead. After all, she was talking to me," Mady declared as she hurriedly rose from her seat and came towards me.

"I'm sorry," she muttered, collecting the chalk from me. I forced a smile at her and went back to my seat.

"Another star student," the teacher said as Mady solved. My confidence fell through all over again. Everyone was bad at school at some point? What a joke. I felt like my situation was worse and I could get nothing right. The students, including the teachers, must think I'm a joke now.

I sat through the rest of the class miserably, and immediately it ended. I knew what I had to do. I picked up my books as fast as I could and went after Mason, ignoring Mady's calls.

"Mason, wait," I called out to him. He walked in such large strides that I couldn't match his pace, even though I ran. He looked back at me in surprise.

"Can we talk?" I asked.

"I don't feel like talking to you," he replied as he resumed walking. Normally, I would have given him a piece of my mind for speaking to me like that, but I was the one who needed something from him, so I needed to be calm.

I ran after him again, faster this time around. I finally caught up to him and held onto his sweatshirt.

"Can you please tutor me?" I pleaded desperately like my life depended on it because right now, I think it does.
