Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 38
Lexi's POV
voices.
When I got home, Mum wasn't in the kitchen or the living room like she used to. Dad was nowhere to be found either. I made my way to her room to check if she was there and informed them of my arrival. Their bedroom door was slightly ajar and I could make out "I called her while she was in school and she assured me she was fine. I don't think she is," Mum said worriedly.
"She wouldn't be. Did you hear how she was crying last night? She must have dreamt of something frightening," Dad replied. I held onto my skirt tightly, gripping the soft material in my palms.
"She's always dreaming of something frightening but when we ask her, she never tells us anything. I feel like I have failed as a mother," she declared sadly. "Don't say that. It's not true," dad responded.
"But it is. I feel like we don't have any bond. If we did, she would have confided in me about what was going on with her. If I've been truly a good mother to her, she wouldn't hesitate to tell me anything," she said. Her words saddened me, I had no idea she felt this way.
"You know how Lexi is. She is very reserved. I'm sure she will confide in us when she's ready. We should be happy she's more outgoing now," Father replied.
"You can say that again. I'm thrilled she's happy. She smiles often these days. Sending her to that school was a good call," Mum said. I turned around and tip-toed back to the door. I don't want them to replace out I had listened in on their conversation. "Mum, Dad. I'm home," I called out in a loud voice with a smile.
"Lexi?" mum asked. I heard shuffling feet and she was in front of me in no time.
"How was school? Are you done with your tutoring sessions?" she inquired. I walked closer to her and engulfed her in a hug.
"School was great and yes, I'm done with my tutoring sessions," I replied.
"What's wrong? You are rarely like this. Why are you being so clingy today?" she asked in surprise.
"I just missed you. Let me stay like this for a while," I muttered with my eyes closed. Her scent was comforting, it gave me instant relief and it soothed all my worries. She hugged me tighter.
"I know I've been a tough nut to crack. I'm stubborn and I don't listen to whatever you tell me but thank you for not giving up on me. Thank you for loving me unconditionally. You are the best mother anyone could ever have," I said.
"What's going on? Am I not getting any hugs?" Dad asked. Mum chuckled. I let go of her and walked towards him. She hurriedly wiped her tears so I wouldn't see them but it was too late. I hugged Dad.
"Thank you too, dad. You both have been my supporting system. Without you, I don't know what I would do," I said. I could feel my eyes watering with the tears that were threatening to spill.
"Okay, enough of all this. I've got news," I said, bringing out the envelope from my backpack.
"What news?" they both asked curiously.
"Guess who got invited to the Alpha's mating ceremony anniversary?" I asked with a smile. Mum gasped, taking the envelope from me.
"You got invited? How? I heard the invitations are limited. You would have to know the Martinez family directly to be able to get in," she asked in shock.
"Everyone from the pack isn't invited?" I asked in surprise
"Absolutely not. That family loves their privacy more than anything so every year only about a hundred important people are invited. These also include Alpha's and beta's from most prominent packs. So tell me, how did you get an invite?" she asked seriously. I had no idea this party was such a big deal. No pressure at all.
"Mady gave it to me," I muttered.
"Who's that?" dad asked.
"Madison Martinez. The Alpha's daughter. She's my friend from school," I explained. I wanted to inform them Mason, my tutor was also his son but I refrained since he didn't want that.
"Really? You are friends with the Alpha's daughter?" Mum gasped. I nodded. Was that so unbelievable?
"Wow! When I told you to socialize more, I never imagined it would be to this extent. You've just been invited to the party of the year and it's tomorrow. We need to get you a dress, fix your hair, your nails, your make-up..."
"Mum, calm down. You sound more excited than I am," I chuckled.
"But are you sure that Madison is truly your friend? I don't want you getting hurt," Dad said to me. I knew he was worried because of Mady's status.
"You don't have to worry Dad. Mady isn't like other rich kids who feel entitled and are rude. I also thought she was like that at first but she proved me wrong. She's a very nice person," I assured him. Someone suddenly knocked on the door.
"I will get it," Mum said walking towards the door. "Lexi, there's a package for you," she called out. I never ordered anything, I thought as I hurried over to the door.
"Your signature ma'am," the delivery man said. I signed it and took the package from him.
"Thank you," I muttered checking the box and trying to see who it was from. Mum closed the door and we headed in.
"Did you order something?" Mum asked.
"No, Mady sent it," I replied, finally catching a glimpse of where her name was written.
"Your friend?" she inquired. I nodded as I placed the box on the table and slowly started to unwrap it. I gasped in surprise when I saw the content.
"It's a beautiful dress! Your friend must really like you," she exclaimed. I smiled.
"I told you she was the nicest person I've ever met," My phone rang all of a sudden and it turned out to be Mady.
"It's her. I'm going to my room now," I informed them while taking the box along. I picked up the call.
"Did you get my gift?" she asked excitedly immediately I picked up.
"Yes, you already gave me an invite to such an important party. Why did you bother sending a dress?" I asked.
"I had to send the dress. It's my fault for inviting you late. Why? You don't like it?" she inquired.
"Of course I love it. It's beautiful. Thank you so much," I replied gratefully.
"No need to thank me. Make sure you arrive early. The school will be closed tomorrow so you don't have any excuses," she said. I chuckled assuring her I would be early before hanging up.

The following day, I was sitting on my dressing chair tiredly while Mum applied my make-up. We both visited most of the beauty parlors in this pack today. She made sure they worked on my body and hair perfectly before we came home. I couldn't utter a single word of complaint else she might get upset.
"All done. Get dressed and come out quickly. You don't have all night," she said before heading out. I heaved a sigh of relief and leaned into my chair with my eyes closed but when I remembered I had to get to the pack house early like Mady had instructed, I sprang up from the chair and hurriedly wore my dress. After getting dressed, I ran out of my room. As usual, Mum was ready with her camera.
"You look so lovely, Lexi. Smile for the camera," she squealed. I struck a couple of poses.
"Lexi dear, this party might be uncomfortable for you since you've never been to that type of gathering before. If you feel overwhelmed, come back immediately. Don't worry about anything else," Dad said. I nodded in response. They both saw me at the door and waited till I got into the cab. We waved at each other till the car sped up and I couldn't see them anymore. I held onto my purse tightly, I was suddenly feeling so nervous.
"We've arrived ma'am," the driver informed me. I glanced outside and I could barely recognize the pack house. I hurriedly paid him and got out after I saw him staring at me irately.
The pack house for the party was a sight to behold. It featured an enchanting blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. The exterior was adorned with strings of soft, twinkling fairy lights that cast a warm and inviting glow. The entrance was marked by a grand archway covered in lush greenery and flowers, creating a whimsical, garden-like atmosphere.
Inside, the space was transformed into a breathtaking wonderland. A live band played soft melodies in the corner, filling the air with music. The walls were adorned with vintage-inspired artwork and mirrors that added depth and character to the space. The beauty was blinding. Totally different from what I had ever seen.
