Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 62
Mason's
POV
I watched as the man held her by the waist and ground against her. She turned back in shock and tried to gently move away from him to continue dancing, but the man wouldn't budge. That was when I saw the panic and fear in her eyes. At first, she was struggling gently because she didn't want anyone to know what was going on, but soon enough, her resistance became more fervent.
"Why are you struggling? Playing hard to get? I'm sure you want this too, with the way you were swinging your hips and making eye contact with me..." he whispered words in her ear that I couldn't hear, except for the fact that I read his lips.
"Let me go!" Lexi yelled out loud; her gown had shifted up so much that her underwear was on full display. He groped her b**t, and she screamed. Her scream caught everyone's attention.
"That's it," I muttered, walking towards them. I roughly pulled him away from her and shoved him away.
"I'm sure you weren't deaf when she said you should let her go," I said angrily. Lexi quickly stepped behind me.
"And who the f**k are you? Her dad?" he asked rudely as he got up from the floor.
"No, I'm the guy who will beat you to a pulp if you don't walk away," I warned calmly. He smirked.
"Little boy, you had better step away before I lose my temper," he threatened. The music had stopped, and people were murmuring.
"What's going on?" Torres asked, walking towards us with a worried Mady.
"It's nothing. Let's go," I said, tugging at Lexi's hand.
"You are really asking for it," he growled, trying to punch me in the face, but I held onto his hand and punched him instead. Everyone gasped.
"Mason, stop it," Torres said as he tried to hold me back, but I didn't listen. Every time I looked at him, all I could see were his hands which were on her body a few minutes ago.
"How dare you, you...!" I cut him off with my fist, which smashed against his face. I heard bones crack, and the sound of his nose being broken, and he made a small whimpering noise as his hands flew to his face to stop the blood that was gushing out. I was livid with anger.
"Mason, stop! People are recording. You don't want this to get to our fathers. It will be really bad," Mady pleaded. Her voice and words seemed to have brought me back to my senses.
"You little brat! You have no idea what you've just done. You will pay for this," the man swore furiously, coming towards me with his bloodied nose and hand, but someone held him back.
"You shouldn't mess with them. They are not the type of people you should mess with, trust me," he said as he showed him a picture on his phone. His eyes widened when he saw whatever he was shown. He glanced at us before scurrying off. I heard Lexi sigh in relief. I removed my jacket and placed it on her. She was still visibly shaken.
"There's nothing to see here. Play the music," Torres instructed. The music resumed playing, and everyone danced to it, completely forgetting about what just happened. Most of them were drunk anyway.
"What happened? Lexi, are you okay?" Mady asked. I glanced at her, and she looked...lost. I couldn't comprehend what she was thinking about.
"She's fine. I will tell you what happened later. For now, let me take her back to the hotel," I replied in her stead.
"Take care of her. We will wrap things up quickly and join you soon," Mady responded. I nodded and took the car keys from Torres. I gently held her hand and led her outside to the car. She got in quietly. This was the first time I had seen her so quiet. It was so unlike her that it got me worried. I drove towards the hotel while I constantly glanced at her. She was looking out of the window with a blank look on her face. We finally arrived at the hotel. I got down and walked towards the other side of the car.
"We are here," I muttered as I opened the door. She didn't seem to notice we had arrived. She glanced around before gently getting out. I walked ahead of her towards my room. I figured she might need space, but I was surprised when I heard her heels clicking behind me. At first, I thought I had misheard the sound of my keys rattling, but after glancing back, I realized she was indeed behind me.
"Don't think too much about this. Your hand is bruised because of me. My conscience wouldn't permit me to leave you like this," she said without glancing at me as she pushed the door open and headed directly into the bathroom. I stared at her retreating back, much more confused than I had been before going to the club. She walked towards me with a first aid kit.
"Take a seat," she muttered, shrugging my jacket from her shoulders. My eyes fell on her cleavage, but I quickly looked away, refusing to be distracted this time.
"What happened back there?" I asked in a calm tone.
"You witnessed what happened. Sit and let me tend to your wounds," she said, avoiding my gaze again.
I sighed out of frustration. "You know, you are so confusing. I can't seem to figure you out no matter how hard I try. I've never been in such a complicated situation." "Then don't try. Let me tend to your wounds and leave," she insisted stubbornly.
"You are my mate! And that's all that matters. Do you think I care about these bruises?" I asked in disbelief.
"I don't dwell in your mind. How would I know your thoughts?" she retorted. My phone, which was placed on the couch, suddenly rang, and Rachel's name was on full display.
"Looks like you have other things to do. I'm sure you would prefer it if she tended to your hand. I should go," she said, turning around to leave.
"This is the only thing you do best. Running away. Go ahead, use Rachel as an excuse to run away again," I remarked. She stopped abruptly when she heard my words.
"I will say this again, you know nothing about me," she whispered.
"Then make me understand. I want to know everything about you. I want to make this bond between us work, but you keep running away from it and avoiding it while insisting that you hate me. Why do you hate me? Did I do something wrong..." "This isn't about you!" she screamed suddenly, turning around.
"What is it about if it's not about me?" I inquired curiously. I could tell we were getting somewhere. This was the longest we've ever talked about ourselves.
"It's about..." she trailed off nervously, fiddling with her fingers.
"Tell me," I urged, moving closer to her.
"It's about me," she mumbled finally, gazing into my eyes. Her beautiful brown orbs were glassy and filled with vulnerability. It was like at that moment, she had her guard down. "You? I don't understand," I replied in confusion.
"I'm not who you think I am. You think that I despise you, but that's far from the truth. What I actually despise is myself. I'm not good for you," she explained in a shaky voice. "Let me decide if you are good for me or not," I assured her. She shook her head.
"When I met you for the first time, I thought you were like the others. But after getting to be in your presence these past few months, I can tell that you are too good for me. I'm tainted and impure. You can't have a future with me," she responded firmly.
"Is this because of him? What did he do to you for you to doubt yourself this much?" I asked worriedly. I knew how it felt to have someone you care deeply for not believe in you. That was my current predicament.
"I told you this isn't because of anybody. It's not only with him. It happens with everyone I love. It's like I'm a curse that should have never existed," she replied, looking away from me. I placed my hand below her chin and gently lifted her face up.
"I'm not him, Lexi. Besides, we won't know if this will work unless we give it a try. The Moon Goddess mated us together for a reason. I like you, and that's all that matters," I said softly.
She sighed. "I believed those words before, and look where it ended. I willed myself never to trust. I can't take that gamble again Mason. Just let me go."
I moved closer to her till there was barely any space left between us. I could feel her breath fanning my face and the loud thumping of her heart. Her breath hitched in surprise.
"You tell me to let you go, but your body and wolf say otherwise. I won't force you into doing anything you don't want. All you have to do is tell me you don't want me. I promise to walk away and never bring it up again," I vowed.
I sincerely hoped she wouldn't say that as I held my breath in anticipation.
