Please Come Back, Honey!
Please Come Back Honey! Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Emma calmly interrupted him before he could finish his words. “That's not it. I was celebrating myfreedom,” she responded. “Are you going to sign it or not?” she asked with a slightly exasperatedtone. Her head was pounding, so all she wanted to do was sign the papers and head home to sleep.Trevor shot her a fierce look before he grabbed the pen and signed the papers. If I refuse to sign thepapers now, it'd seem like I can't live without her, right? Who am 1? I'm Trevor Bateson! I don't needother people to keep me alive; I'm the one whom others need! After signing the papers, she turnedaround and pressed her baseball cap down before leaving. She had already booked an afternoonflight out of the country and she was going to leave after her nap. Clearly, there was nothingholding her back at all.

Her father and brother had given her tons of missed calls last night, but she had simply transferredto them all the savings she had in her bank account before turning off her phone. She felt like shehad completed her duties after giving them all the money she made from her part-time job as ascriptwriter. Meanwhile, the reporters who were waiting outside the Civil Affairs Bureau for Mrs.Bateson could not seem to replace who they were looking for. In the end, they only saw Trevor leavingwith a sour look on his face. The reporters then hurried over to question him, “President Bateson, have you gone through the divorce procedures with Mrs. Bateson?” None of the reporters sawEmma entering the Civil Affairs Bureau, so they were puzzled by the situation. “How is any of thisyour f*cking business?!” Trevor was filled with rage as he snapped at the reporters who asked, rendering them speechless. With that, he strode off into his car before anyone could say anything. ...One year later, Emma and Susanna were walking out of the elevator in Alpha Productions whenTrevor showed up in a black suit. He was with his assistant and they had just stepped out ofWesley's office when he bumped into the two women. Susanna was holding a cup of coffee in herhand and she had just taken a sip when she saw Trevor. She nearly spat her coffee out before sheturned to Emma and asked, “How unlucky can we be?” Emma had just completed her studies andreturned to Jonestown that day itself. She was at the office to talk to Wesley about her officialadmission procedures as a staff of the company. Therefore, Trevor's appearance came as a surpriseto her. Susanna shot her a worried look, but the gaze in Emma's eyes was composed and steady. Itwas almost as if her handsome ex-husband was nothing more than a stranger to her. Although shehad seen him from afar, she pretended not to notice him at all. She promised herself to only treathim like a stranger from the day they officialized their divorce. “I'll head in to meet PresidentZurich,” she said to Susanna. Susanna nodded and Emma lowered her gaze as she walked pastTrevor before entering Wesley's office.

Even though she could pretend as if he was invisible, he could not bring himself to do the same. Ithad been a year since they last met and Emma had turned into an eye-catching individual whoeasily stood out in a crowd. She transformed her silky-smooth straight black hair into a mid-lengthperm that made her look especially trendy and mesmerizing. Furthermore, her exquisite makeuplook and attractive lip color made her seem even more seductive. She looked just as good evenwhen she stood next to Susanna, who was a female celebrity. When Emma walked past Trevor, hecould smell a feminine scent in the air around him. His Adam's apple rolled down his throat as hethought about the passionate night they shared together a long while ago. “Hey, PresidentBateson,” Susanna came over to greet him. His gaze landed on her for a brief moment before hegot straight to his point. “When did she come back?” “Who?” She pretended not to know what hewas talking about. “You know who.” He could not be bothered to play along with her games.

Only then did she put on a look of sudden realization. “Oh! Do you mean Emma? She just returnedto Jonestown today. She sure has bad luck, doesn't she? It's almost as if she was cursed.” Susannawas clearly referring to their coincidental encounter. Trevor responded with a stiff smile, “How is thatunlucky? It's fate, you know?” She stared at him without any words coming out of her mouth. Theheck? Why is he saying that? He doesn't still have feelings for her, does he?
