When Amber brought out the first dish, Sean was reading a picture-story book with one arm around Cindy.

He was holding a small fork in the other hand that was wrapped in gauze. His movement was not very flexible, and he gave Cindy a bite of cake from time to time.

Neither of them noticed that Amber walked out of the kitchen.

Sean didn’t raise his head until she approached and put the dish on the table.

He froze, and then dropped the fork in his hand on the table.

A smile flashed across Amber’s eyes. Sean’s eyebrows were knitted and he whispered, “Why are you looking at me?”

“Because you are handsome.”

The expression on Sean’s face was more subtle. He had known Amber for a long time, but it was the first time she complimented him on his appearance.

And she complimented him so straightforwardly.

The corner of Sean’s mouth twitched. She was trying to replace a breakthrough on him. Anyway, she was up to something!

Sean didn’t answer. Amber handed him a pair of chopsticks and whispered, “Didn’t you say you are hungry? Eat a little.”

He reached out and took them.

Amber turned around and went to the kitchen. Sean took a piece of egg and put it in his mouth.

It may be because of Cindy, the egg she made was soft. Although its taste was mild, it was exceptionally delicious.

Sean paused, and his eyebrows were knitted.

He suddenly realized that after being hospitalized, his life was too depraved.

Not only did he calmly accept Amber’s care, but he also got well along with Cindy.

Holding the chopsticks, Sean was in a trance for while, and Cindy suddenly leaned forward to him.

Halfway through the meal, Sean’s mother came.

She wore a pair of high heels and a decent dress, with a touch of lightness on her well-maintained face.

“Amber, you come out with me. I have some questions for you.”

She came in but didn’t talk to Sean or look at Cindy. She talked to Amber first with an unkind tone.

Amber put down her chopsticks.

Cindy blinked, “Grandma, what are you going to ask mom? Can’t dad and I listen?”

“Don’t cut in when adults speak. Be polite!”

Cindy pressed the corner of her mouth and kept silent.

Sean’s interest in eating was ruined by the appearance of Mrs. Smith.

He turned his head and glanced at Cindy. She held the chopsticks tightly, and her big eyes were filled with tears.

She looked pitiful.

What was the matter with Amber’s daughter? Wasn’t she very strong when she was with him?

Why was she so timid when she met his mother?

Did Amber teach her to have different reactions when meeting different people? They knew the characters of his family quite comprehensively!

There was no expression on Amber’s face. She asked Cindy to eat obediently and followed Mrs. Smith out.

It was hot outside. The sky was getting darker, and the street lights were all lit up. The colorful landscape lights penetrated the night of the city, reflecting a different kind of beauty.

The wind in the hospital was mixed with impetuous enthusiasm.

Mrs. Smith suddenly stopped, turned around, and looked at Amber firmly.

Her expression was engulfed by the night but her gaze was deep and scary.

“Mom, what’s the matter?”

Amber had a slight smile on her face.

Mrs. Smith snorted, “Stop playing dumb. You promised that you would take good care of Sean, but you went back on your word secretly!”

Amber paused, “What?”

“Sean didn’t get better at all. The doctor asked you to pay close attention to his condition, and that was what you did?”

“If I hadn’t called the attending doctor today, I wouldn’t have known this!”

“What a good daughter-in-law!”

Amber took a deep breath, and Mrs. Smith pressed forward step by step, “I also heard that Sean was so badly injured because he was trying to save you. Is this the result of you taking care of him?!”

Amber’s eyelashes fluttered.

Sean was injured because of Lin Man’s earrings.

But she told Mrs. Smith this, Mrs. Smith would not believe her. Maybe she would think that it was just an excuse!

Mrs. Smith was furious.

Amber knew medicine, but she couldn’t even take care of Sean?

When Amber married Sean, Tomas said that she loved Sean very much. It was not right, was it?

She only had such a son. She couldn’t let her do that!

Thinking about it, Mrs. Smith took out a document from her handbag and stuffed it into Amber’s hand.

“I have prepared the divorce agreement for you.”
