Chapter 145: Do You Think I’ll Let You Go?
The servant kept nodding her head. She felt uneasy, but she slowly muttered, "Young Madame, the air in the guest room smells bad. Mr. Beckham told you to stay in the young master's room and he would stay in the guest room. Please take your rest. If you need
anything, please let me know."
With that, the servant quickly ran away as if there was something scary chasing her from behind.
Hayden did not catch up with her. The old mansion was really big that she lost her way after she had overlooked it. She couldn't replace her way out, so she just went with the flow.
She took a deep breath and began looking around the house.
Joseph's room was as simple as the courtyard; the furniture was all made of scented rosewood. His room was facing south, and it was separated into two sections. The section facing east seemed like a study room. The door was half-opened, revealing a desk with a writing brush and a fine writing paper on it.
Was he still practising calligraphy? Hayden was a little surprised, so she pushed the door open and went in.
A paperweight was placed on top of the fine writing paper that had been nicely cut. After taking a close look at the content of the paper, Hayden burst out laughing while holding the edge of the table. Two words, 'Extremely boring' were seen on the paper.
In this upright environment and solemn atmosphere, who could have imagined a strict man like him would write such a thing on the paper?
She laughed at the thought of that man sitting solemnly at his desk, holding a brush and writing these conflicting words.
Hayden was suddenly in the mood when she saw a few papers that were thrown into the garbage can at the side, so she squatted down and took it out.
The first paper scribbled 'this is so annoying', the other wrote 'what a bad weather', and one of it even wrote 'wake up early tomorrow'.
Hayden was laughing so hard at the series of nonsense calligraphy that she didn't even realize Joseph coming in.
"What are you laughing at?"
Joseph walked towards her and asked.
"Oh my, why did you appear suddenly?" Hayden subconsciously threw the paper in her hand away and gently patted her chest.
How could this man walk around without producing any sound?
"It's you who are too focused at it. I called you but you couldn't hear me at all." Joseph smiled and leaned against the door.
"Did you write all this?" Hayden's face turned red as she suppressed her laughter when she mentioned his masterpiece.
When he saw his 'masterpiece', Joseph immediately took on a ghastly expression and muttered, "Is it a habit of yours to look into someone's garbage can?"
"It's not a habit of mine, but when I see someone's masterpiece, I think I can cultivate this habit in the future." Hayden seemed to have not noticed Joseph's expression as she continued teasing him.
"Boring." Joseph took a glance at the woman who was laughing hard and helplessly shook his head.
"It's extremely boring." Hayden mocked him.
Seeing the humiliated look on Joseph's face, she laughed even harder. She lost her balance as she wasn't paying attention and fell on her butt. She couldn't get up for a moment.
"Hahaha...ouch!" Hayden laughed and felt her butt aching. For a moment, she didn't know whether she was crying or laughing.
Joseph was still feeling embarrassed when he saw her sitting on the ground. His humiliation turned into helplessness as he stepped forward and reached out his hand, "Alright, get up once you have finished laughing. The ground is very cold. Don't catch a cold later and trouble me."
Hayden held his hand trying to get up. She continued teasing him and asked, "Are you waking up early tomorrow?"
Joseph was angered by her ridicule. He grabbed her wrist and vigorously pulled her up.
Hayden was undefended as a huge force pulled her up from the ground. Her smile was still on her face when Joseph pulled her towards him. She raised her head and looked at him in daze.
"Still laughing?" Joseph lowered his head and warned her with a low voice full of aggression. Hayden recovered from her surprise. The man at that moment made her feel extremely dangerous, so she quickly struggled, "Let me go."
"Aren't you laughing at me? You can laugh all you want now." Joseph didn't have the thought to let her go, so she couldn't struggle at all.
Hayden suddenly became anxious, "Grandpa said you would stay in the guest room. What are you doing here? I'm telling Grandpa that you're bullying me."
"Oh?" Joseph's ending tone was particularly long, "I just have a half an hour talk with Grandpa about work, but I haven't heard him saying anything about letting me stay in the guest room."
Hayden was stunned for a moment before jumping up in surprise.
"What do you mean? Do you think I come to your room on purpose? Why were you thinking?"
Joseph didn't know whether to cry or laugh. The thought of teasing her vanished after seeing her acting so cute and serious.
Joseph looked at Hayden as he raised his eyebrow and the corner of his lips tipped into a smile.
"Don't you think Grandpa make this arrangement on purpose?"
Hayden was startled as her face blushed. She lowered her head and thought, "No... I don't think so."
"Why not?" Joseph lowered his head and came closer to her face. Not knowing if he did it on purpose, he exhaled his warm breath onto her face.
Hayden felt itchy on her face and even her heart was pounding wildly.
Hayden lowered her head even more. This was the old mansion of the Beckham family after all, the atmosphere here inexplicably made her feel that she should be a reserved woman. But it was really hard for her to do so since Joseph was so close to her!
"You... let me go." Hayden pursed her lips and stammered, "I'll go sleep in the guest room."
"You're already in my room. Do you really think I will still let you go?"
A deep voice sounded from above her head.
She subconsciously raised her gaze and saw a hint of tease in his eyes. His deep gaze seemed as if it wanted to swallow her up.
"What do you want?"
She looked up. Before she could recover from her surprise, Joseph directly held her waist and lifted her up in his arms. Then, he walked towards the bedroom facing east.
"Joseph, are you crazy? Put me down." Hayden struggled strenuously.
"What? Do you want everyone here to hear you?" Joseph smiled and teased her.
The next second, Hayden was thrown onto the soft bed. Before she could react, her vision turned black.
The man's charming face slowly approached her. Hayden quickly closed her eyes and tightly held the bed sheet in her hands.
There weren't any movement, so Hayden slowly opened her eyes. She saw a man supporting himself with his hands beside her and looked at her with a smile. The teasing expression on his face was even more obvious than before. "Are you expecting anything to happen?"
You, you prick!" Hayden's face was red as she gritted her teeth to express her dissatisfaction.
"Oh? Did you scold me because you were disappointed or because things didn't go the way you wish to?" The man smiled and his deep voice sounded flirty.
Hayden suddenly clung onto his neck and planted a kiss on his lips.
"It seems that you have told me the answer through your actions."
"You shameless man."
The noises of them fooling around sounded inside the room, and there was a hint of sweetness ventilating in the air.
