Chapter 147: Lost It Six Years Ago

""What's

wrong?"

Joseph took on a ghastly expression and Hayden didn't know why.

After taking the earrings out of the jewellery box for quite some time, Joseph seemed to have confirmed something. He went to the study room opposite and took out an aged black-and-white photo. It seemed old because the corners of the photo were yellow.

The photo was a young woman in a cheongsam, about eighteen to nineteen years old. She was a beauty that looked indifferent. She wore a golden necklet around her neck with two different sizes of jade. Although the jades were old, the smooth outline of the jades could still be seen clearly. "This is?" Hayden was a little puzzled.

Joseph compared the earrings and put down the photo.

"This was my grandmother. The necklace around her neck was her family's heirloom. There were two inlaid jades, a big and a small one. Later, they were caught up in war and the Beckham Mansion was taken away by the military. The Beckham family had changed, so she sold the smaller jade away to subsidize their household expenses."

"The smaller one?" Hayden's eyes fell on the earring in his hand. The outline of the inlaid jade was very similar to the jade in the photo, "Is this the one?"

Joseph nodded.

No one had expected that this jade would travel all the way overseas and reached Jennifer's hands.

Now, it was back in Hayden's hands.

"What about the other one?" She asked hurriedly.

When she mentioned this, Joseph frowned.

"Grandpa handed over the remaining jade to me. I made it into a necklace, but unfortunately I lost it six years ago."

Hayden was stunned. She couldn't help holding her fist tightly and her face seemed a little nervous.

The necklace that he meant, should be the one that Hayden had pulled out from his neck that year.

"What's wrong? What are you thinking about?"

Joseph's voice pulled her thoughts back. She was spacing out while saying perfunctorily, "Nothing, I was just quite surprised. I didn't expect that this earring would have anything to do with the Beckham family."

"It might be fate." Joseph's eyes were warm and it was the first time he had spoken about fate, which was not worth mentioning by him before.

Hayden was in a very complicated mood. After she had said goodbye to Mr. Beckham, she was still thinking about the necklace when she took her children home.

It was true after all that fate enjoyed fooling people. The existence of that necklace would always remind her of what happened six years ago, reminding her that she was hiding her identity from Joseph. It was originally a clue to replace her son, but now it had become a difficult problem to deal with.

When she moved, she put the earrings and the necklace into the safety locker. As she locked the safety locker, it was as though she had locked it with all the memories that she didn't want to recall for a while and sighed heavily.

"You two will live here from now on. Do you guys like it?"

She spent a whole afternoon to tidy up the house before picking up the two little kids from Alayna's house.

Stella was very excited. She opened every door in the house and looked around, "Wow, this is so beautiful. It's much bigger than the room in Aunt Alayna's house. I really like my room."

"It was your Grandma who had decorated it for you."

Hayden followed behind her and looked at the dolls that were nicely decorated in the room. She felt extremely warm.

Her aunt told her that this house had always been empty and no one bothered to take care of it. But after she had come, the house was fully furnished and the simple daily necessities were added in the house. Stella's room was even beautifully painted in pink and filled with children's toys. The clothes in her wardrobe were all brand-new.

"Noah, this is your room."

Hayden opened a door and waved at Noah, "Come and have a look."

Noah nodded obediently and walked over. He stood at the door of the room and looked at it for a while. Just like his father, she couldn't see whether he liked it or not.

"Do you like it?" Hayden took the initiative to ask, "The decoration is quite simple. Grandma probably didn't know you were going to live here, so I'll redecorate your room again in a future. You can tell me what you like."

Noah ran back to the couch and took his small drawing board. He looked down and wrote a few words on it. Then, he lifted it up, "Anything is fine as long as I'm staying with you and Stella."

When Hayden saw this, she suddenly felt a little sad. She squatted down and held him in her arms.

The doorbell rang suddenly.

"Ding-dong." Someone shouted outside the door, "Hayden, open the door quickly. My hands are almost breaking. I brought hotpot too!"

Stella reached her head out of the room and shouted in joy, "Godmother!" Then, she rushed to the door.

Alayna carried the large and small bags of ingredients into the house. She deliberately teased her,

"It's a good place, isn't it? No wonder you're in such a hurry to move out from my small place."

Hayden raised his eyebrows, "How about this? I'll exchange my house with yours. I'm used to living at your house anyway. Since what's yours is mine, what's mine would be yours too." Upon hearing that, Alayna laughed satisfactorily.

"With these words of yours, I'll personally cook tonight to congratulate your housewarming."

If Alayna were to cook, it would be the lowest expectation for her not to burn the kitchen. Fortunately, she was aware of her own skills and brought hot pot instead. However, there was a problem, "I don't have a hot pot cooker here." Hayden shrugged and felt a little helpless.

"How is this a problem? Wait." Alayna switched on her phone to call someone and picked her eyebrows at Hayden.

The call was quickly connected.

"Hayden had moved to a new house, so she asked me to call you. Come here for dinner if you're free this evening."

"Okay, come here quickly then, and buy some stuff for a hot pot on the way here."

"It's not that troublesome. We don't need anything else, I've already bought everything." Alayna suddenly raised her voice, "Hayden, what else are we lacking of?"

Hayden was suddenly mentioned, so she unconditionally responded, "A cooker."

"Oh, do you hear that? Hayden said we still need a cooker, a hot pot cooker."

After hanging up the call, Alayna sat down on the couch, "Everything's solved."

Hayden tugged the corner of her lips, "Why do I feel like you're using me to do something bad on a good person?"

"A good person?" Alayna pursed her lips, "Kevin is a player. He has nothing to do with a good person at all."

"Well, that's true too."

Hayden nodded her head as she agreed with her. The guilt in her heart dissipated in an instant. Then, she asked Alayna to call Kevin again to bring Benjamin along.

Half an hour later, Kevin arrived with a hot pot cooker with Benjamin.

As soon as Benjamin came, the kitchen and dining table was directly handed over to him. Alayna also sent Kevin into the kitchen to help him. The two women laid on the couch chatting while eating melon seeds. When Alayna thought of Benjamin's classy and indifferent attitude that day, she spitted out the melon shell,

"Why do I feel like this kid has changed into a different person? Wasn't he behaving like a foolish boy when he woke up in the hospital at that time?"

"Really?" In terms of judging people, Hayden was a little simple-minded. She didn't realize anything was wrong, "Perhaps he has some thoughts in his mind that is concerning him. What's wrong? Do you feel anything wrong with him?" Alayna raised her eyebrows and glanced towards the kitchen with a meaningful look, "No, I mean this kid looks much more handsome than before now. How old is he? Is he twenty yet?"

"Don't tell me that you've fallen for him." Hayden looked wary.000000000000000
