Purchased A Mr. Right
Chapter 1031

The expression on Carter's face was a bit funny, and he complained bitterly, "Oh, please, Captain Chin, are you going to leave me so heartlessly?"

Adam remained unmoved and said, "Yeah."

Under the threat of Adam's eyes, Carter could only moan in his heart that his boss was a ruthless man. Then he got out of the car sheepishly and stood on the roadside to stop a taxi. Adam didn't even raise his eyebrows and directly drove away.

Adam had spent most of his time in the army, so he rarely came back and did not have much chance to spend time with his family. The task of catching deserters this time was not so difficult, so he had a relatively leisure time in the Ice city.

He first went back to the Chin's Mansion to have lunch with his mother and then went back to the family building in the military region.

When it was just dawn the next day, he left for the airport. Now it was already two o'clock in the afternoon. She should have left.

After entering the code and opening the anti-theft door, he saw the women's sneakers on the ground.

He was stunned.

"She hasn't left yet?" He wondered.

Although it was Sunday, Anthea was burdened with study in senior high school. She should still have classes the whole morning. Adam frowned and walked in. The door of the guest room was open, with no one inside. But there was a faint sound coming from the washroom outside.

He raised his hand and knocked on the glass door, and then the door was opened.

Anthea stood inside with her body hunched over. Her hair was dishevelled and her face was unusually pale. Beads of sweat rolled down from her forehead and sideburns. Her pale lips were trembling.

"Uncle?"

She took a long time to make a sound.

In the morning, she thought it was just a stomachache, but sitting on the toilet for more than an hour didn't work. When she wanted to stand up, she felt weak and curled up all over. She didn't know how much time had passed. When she just heard the footsteps, she almost exhausted all her strength to get up.

Adam hurriedly held her up and said, "What's wrong with you?"

Anthea covered the lower abdomen on the right side and said in a trembling voice, "I'm in so much pain..."

She wanted to answer more, but all of a sudden, darkness came over her eyes, and then she fell into a sturdy and warm embrace.

Adam held her in his arms and then drove directly to the hospital to get in the emergency room.

After the doctor quickly finished the examination, he came out with a list and shouted, "Are you the patient's family?"

"Yes, I am." Adam answered in the corridor and came forward.

When the doctor saw that he was wearing military uniform, he seemed to be stunned, especially when he felt the dominating aura from him. He looked back at the emergency room and asked, "Is the patient your girlfriend?"

"..." Adam was stunned.

In the short span of two days, it was the second time that he had been mistaken for Anthea's boyfriend.

His black eyes looked inside at the young girl who had already woken up and was covered in cold sweat because of the pain. His Adam's apple moved slightly.

"She has acute appendicitis and needs surgery immediately!" The doctor did not wait for him to answer and quickly said, "You are going to sign the Surgery Consent Form now, and then take the medical card and the receipt to pay the fee. The patient is about to be pushed into the operating room!"

Knowing that the situation was urgent, Adam took the pen and signed on it at once.

After he paid the fee, Anthea had already been changed into a surgical suit. With an intravenous drip in the back of her hand, she was pushed to the operating room by the nurse. When she saw Adam, she suddenly broke down. "Uncle, I am so scared! Will I die?"

"No, it's just a minor surgery." Adam could not help laughing and replied.

"Really?" Anthea looked at him tearfully.

"Yes." Adam nodded. Her damp eyelashes blinking, she seemed to believe in his words, but also feel very nervous, so he said in a gentle voice to comfort her, "Don't be afraid. It's okay."

"The anesthetic master is in place, and preoperative preparation is ready. We need to go to the operating room now!" In the nurse's urging voice, Anthea was pushed in. The door of the operating room was closed, and the corridor became quiet again.

An hour later, the surgery was over.

Lying in the ward, Anthea was still groggy, but she had really fallen asleep.

The nurse at the side of the bed noticed this and leaned over to whisper in her ear, "Miss Lee, the operation has just ended, and the anesthetic hasn't worn off yet. You can have a sleep!"

Anthea heard her, but she was still holding on.

The nurse walked in and out with the medicine in her hand. She seemed to be trying hard to replace something until a tall and strong figure appeared.

Anthea pursed her lips and complained like a little kitten who had been abandoned by its owner. "I thought you were gone!"

"I went to the doctor's office," Adam explained.

She had just come down from the operating table. Her face was still pale and weak, but because of her young age, her beautiful facial features, and especially a pair of sparkling eyes, people couldn't take their eyes off her.

Because of the experience he had gotten in the police station and the school, Adam still asked for her opinion. "Do you want to tell your grandfather?"

"No." As expected, Anthea immediately shook her head.

"And your adoptive parents?" Adam continued to ask.

Anthea shook her head again. "Don't tell them. They'll come here out of worry!"

Her adoptive parents all had jobs in the town. If they heard that she was hospitalized, they would definitely stop working and come to take care of her. Although she was quite afraid before the surgery, she did not want them to suffer. After all, this was indeed just a minor surgery and she would be discharged from the hospital in a few days.

"Okay." Adam respected her and didn't say anything more.

He arranged a senior ward for her, which had a separate bathroom. The ward was very spacious and conducive to recuperation.

The sunlight was still strong at this time. Adam turned around and wanted to pull the curtains together, but his right hand was suddenly grabbed. Or to be exact, Anthea was holding his right hand in her arms. He turned his head and saw Anthea's bright eyes.

Anthea thought that once he completed his task, he would leave her alone in this hospital, so she held him tightly with an uneasy look in her eyes. "Uncle, can you stay with me?"

Her eyes seemed to be watery. She just looked at him eagerly.

Adam's heart softened. "All right."

Anthea breathed a sigh of relief after he agreed, but the look in her eyes showed that she was still uncertain.

Adam could tell that her sunken eyelids were about to shut, but she still fought back her drowsiness and stared at him, as if she was afraid that he would run away as soon as she closed her eyes. Adam smiled and sighed. "Don't worry! I won't leave. Go to sleep."

After he said this in a deep and horse voice, the girl finally closed her eyes slowly.

But still, she did not let go of his hand.
