Purchased A Mr. Right
Chapter 1049

She stared at him, her eyes brilliant with unwept tears.

Adam frowned slightly and said in a low voice, "The combat exercise is held in a forest. No cell towers."

"This type of exercise is closed off. We're not allowed to contact the outside world. We can only use walkie-talkies and keep our phones in the base."

After listening to his words, Anthea spoke up, smiling so that her dimples showed, "So, you didn't mean to not answer my call or reply to my message, did you?" The bitterness accumulated in the past month had disappeared in an instant.

"No." Adam nodded.

"All right!" Anthea turned to hold her shoulders with both hands, raised her chin, and announced, "Then treat me to dinner, and I'll forgive you!"

There was nothing that couldn't be solved by a meal!

If it didn't work, then two meals!

Seeing that she had climbed into the passenger seat radiantly and waved at him, Adam shook his head and laughed.

The jeep drove out from the exclusive road and ran to the main road. The neon lights had already lit up the whole city.

Anthea had no mood to appreciate the beautiful scenery outside the window. She wanted to say more to him. "Adam, have you been in the exercise since you returned to the army this month?" "Yes." Adam nodded.

After driving for a while, he habitually picked up a cigarette from the storage compartment and lit it.

White smoke rose, and he heard her soft voice asking, "Are you tired?"

Hearing her words, a smile touched the corners of his mouth while he didn't say a word.

How childish she was.

In the army, professional soldiers needed to make strenuous efforts to complete physical training and combat exercise every day. How could it not be hard? Truth to be told, to shoulder their responsibilities, they had to fulfill their duties with sweat and hardships that were numerous times more than ordinary people.

But in the car, seeing her delicate, tiny face was written with concern, Adam's heart missed a beat.

Just like what she said before, "I'm just worried about you", no one had ever said that to him.

Adam said in a gentle voice, "I'm used to it." "You must be enmeshed in deadening routines!" Anthea said.

"Sort of," Adam said calmly.

Anthea nodded and then blinked her eyes. Suddenly, she turned her head and asked, "Adam, I haven't seen you for a long time. Do you miss me?"

Adam's action of snuffing out the cigarette paused, and then he put it out in the ashtray. He glanced at her face calmly with his dark eyes and then reminded her, "Here we are."

When Anthea heard this, she looked outside. She didn't know when the jeep had stopped, but she saw the logo of Sacred Leaf High School.

"Oh!" She could only whisper.

In fact, she missed him a little.

After all, she had been looking forward to his answer since they had not seen each other for a month...

"Go in." Adam raised his chin slightly.

Anthea nodded, unfastened her seat belt, closed the door, and waved at him behind the car window. "Be careful on your way. Remember to text me when you get home!"

Watching the jeep disappear from her sight, she turned around and walked into the campus.

Two roommates came out of the library and seemed to see her get out of the jeep with curious expressions.

'Anthea, who sent you back? Why do I see a man in that car?"

"Are you in love? Tell us quickly, who is him?"

Anthea licked her lips. She could directly explain that he was her uncle-in-law like last time when she had been misunderstood in the hospital. But for some reason, at this moment, she did not want to explain. Instead, she said perfunctorily, "Oh, nobody!"

Then, she pulled her two roommates back to the dormitory.

On Tuesday, the school organized an extracurricular event, so they took half a day off.

When Anthea returned to the dormitory, her roommates were all discussing how to enjoy this time. After they came up with a plan, they asked Anthea, who was already back in her bed, "Anthea, we decided to go out later and have dinner outside. Are you with us?"

"I'm not joining you. I'm busy!"

Anthea shook her head. After her roommates all changed their school uniforms and went out, she took out her cell phone from under the pillow and dialed a number. After getting through, she gently bit the corner of her mouth and said, "Hello, Adam!"

"Hello," Adam replied in a low voice.

After rolling her eyes, Anthea said directly, "You still owe me a meal. When are you going to treat me a dinner?"

"..." Adam felt helpless. When did he agree?

"As a major in the army, don't tell me you're going to go back on your words and not treating your niece to a meal."

"You really want to eat outside, don't you?"

"Yes!" Even if she knew that he could not see her, she still nodded heavily and drew circles on the sheet with her finger. "Ahem, we have a half-day holiday, so we don't have to stay on campus in the evening..."

On the line, Adam seemed to chuckle. "Okay, I'll pick you up at six o'clock in the evening after I'm done with my work."

"That's great. I'll wait for you!" Anthea smiled happily.

At six o'clock in the evening, she had been waiting at the school gate early. Seeing the military green Jeep coming, she waved her hands.

After getting in the car, they drove directly to the restaurant nearby which they had come to twice.

When the car just stopped, Adam answered a phone call.

After he hung it up, he wrinkled his brows as looked at her with a distressed look. Anthea asked hurriedly, "Adam, what's wrong?"

Adam replied hesitantly, "Some army comrades have come back from the south after participating in the special training. We haven't seen each other for almost half a year. Carter is giving them a welcoming reception. He's urging me to go there!"

"..." Anthea fell silent.

She kept her hands folded in her lap and pursed her lips unhappily. "Adam, are you going to stand me up?"

Adam saw her expression change, and her originally bright eyes drooped, being covered by her long eyelashes. She was so disappointed as if there was a small dark cloud on her head.

His Adam's apple bobbed slightly, as he bit back the words he would like to said.

"I'll take you with me."

Anthea asked in surprise, "Adam, are you serious?"

"Yes," Adam said thoughtfully, "and they're having dinner as well."

Holding her breath, Anthea clutched the seat belt with both hands.

Did she have to see his army comrades?

She felt a little nervous and comforted herself, "Come on! I'm not his girlfriend, stop being coy!"

Twenty minutes later, the jeep stopped at a chain restaurant. There was a sentry behind the glass door. When he saw the two of them getting off the car, his eyes widened.

Then, he turned around and rushed back to the second-floor box, shouting at the top of his voice, "Big news! Captain Chin has brought a little girl here!"
