Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 1091
The whole afternoon, Anthea was in a state of unease.
While she was busy doing her things in the tent, she would look out of the tent from time to time, trying to replace out if the rescue team was back. Adam was injured. She not only worried about his health but also about his safety.
She also heard Carter's words. The area was so badly flooded that the young soldier disappeared just as he fell into the river. It could be seen how dangerous it was. Before she knew it, it was dark already. Adam still had not come back.
The moon was hanging in the night sky, and people in the settlement points gradually quieted down. Many of them had already fallen asleep.
Anthea could not fall asleep because she was worried about Adam. She walked to the side of the road, looking into the darkness and waiting for him with anticipation. Around 11 p.m., she vaguely heard the car horns.
Looking from afar, Anthea saw two military trucks coming back.
When the trucks stopped, soldiers in the two cars all jumped out with some lingering cold air on them.
The light was dim at night. Anthea clenched her fists, looking for the figure in the crowd anxiously.
When she saw Adam coming down from the second truck, she was finally relieved and breathed a sigh of relief.
He came back safely!
Adam also saw her. She stood there alone. The bright moonlight brought her a layer of silver glow, and her sparkling eyes seemed to have become the brightest stars in the night.
Adam strode to her and said with a frown, "Anthea, why haven't you slept yet? It's so late."
Anthea pretended to look behind him and said, "Did you replace the lost soldier?"
"Yes." Adam nodded. At the mention of this matter, he said in a serious tone, "He was very lucky. He climbed onto a tree and managed to hang on there until we came to his rescue. Now, he is in a coma and has a fever. But it's not serious."
Anthea's eyes fell on his right leg. "Is your leg okay?"
The two sleeves of his camouflage clothing were soaked. However, the trouser legs were dry, and the cloth around the wound was not wet, which proved that it should not be serious.
"I'm fine," Adam replied.
He stared at her with his black eyes and suddenly asked, "Anthea, you care about me, don't you?"
Anthea's heart missed a beat.
Her long eyelashes quickly dropped, covering the panic in her eyes. She tried to remain calm and hurriedly explained to him. "As your junior, I certainly worry about you, my uncle-in-law... Don't get me wrong. I didn't mean anything else!"
Adam's eyes darkened.
A flicker of a smile crossed his eyes, but it soon faded away.
The night was so dark here. Compared to the city, there were far fewer lights in the disaster area. They stood silently in the darkness.
Anthea could not see his expression clearly and did not notice the cold expression in his dark pupils. She just muttered, "It's late. I'm going back to sleep!"
"Okay," Adam answered with his deep voice.
"Good night, Adam!" Anthea said respectfully.
Then, she pursed her lips and directly turned back to the tent without waiting for him to say goodnight.
She did not know that Adam kept his gaze on her and did not want to look away.
There were no windows in the tent. The morning rays penetrating through the cracks between the curtains were so bright.
Anthea had a dream - she was back to a year ago.
She kindly bought some medicine to look for Adam. To her surprise, when the door was opened, she saw Mira in a bathrobe. Then he came out, only in a bath towel. They stood there, looking at her side by side.
The scene, like a wall, fell toward her with a loud crash.
Anthea had no time to dodge and collided head-on with the wall. She saw herself bled.
She still remembered that she ran down from the stairs of more than ten floors, crying bitterly in the airport departure lounge. After the plane landed, she saw Leonardo, held his arms, and cried her heart out. Anthea opened her eyes with sobs.
She raised her hand and touched the corner of her eye, which had become cold and wet with tears.
After waking up from the sad dream, Anthea slowly sat up. The two elder sisters had already gotten up, so she was alone in the tent. Slowly, she wrapped her arms around her knees.
When she thought of Mira, she wondered what was going on between her and Adam...
They must be in a sweet relationship, but what all
this had to do with her?
With her eyelashes shaking, Anthea tightly closed her eyes. There was a chill flowing in her chest, and it cooled her blood.
After washing up, she changed her clothes and went to the medical shelter.
For convenience's sake, they lifted up the tent curtains. When Anthea approached, she could see Adam sitting in a military uniform in a chair inside.
Medical workers walked by him, but he did not see anyone, just knocking on the table from time to time.
Next to him was a medicine box - he was waiting for someone to change the medicine for him.
Anthea, who was heading forward, shrank back and turned in the opposite direction.
She especially went to the resettlement place for residents and took some of the children's temperature. Leonardo sent her a message, saying that Adam had left. Only then did she feel secured and return to do her job in the medical shelter.
Time flew by quickly as she was busy. It was already noon.
Anthea stretched herself as usual and got out to get lunch.
On the way, she ran into Declan. As soon as he saw her, he smiled brilliantly. "Anthea, haven't you eaten your meal yet?"
"Yes, I just finished my job!" Anthea nodded.
Declan scratched his head and said, "Well, our search team has just returned, and I haven't eaten yet!"
"Then let's go have a meal together!" Anthea smiled.
"Okay!" Declan flushed a little and went to the material distribution point with her. On the way, he hesitated to ask her, "Anthea, are you angry?"
"Why?"
"Yesterday noon, I promised to teach you a few fighting skills. But I didn't expect that I had to deal with the newly arrived materials. As a result, I taught you nothing. I'm so sorry!"
Hearing this, Anthea was amused. "Declan, I'm not angry!"
Declan was relieved. He smiled and said, "Then that's good. I was quite worried about this! I went to deal with my business and failed to teach you yesterday, but if you have time today, I can..." Before he could finish, Anthea, who was next to him, suddenly stopped.
Declan asked in confusion, "Anthea?"
Anthea was looking at the material distribution point in front of him with pursed lips. Many residents and people from the medical team were lining up to receive their lunch. Because there were many people, several soldiers in camouflage clothing were at the long table, helping volunteers to distribute the food.
Adam, tall and strong, was among them.
He was wearing an army green vest, revealing his strong and long arms, and his coat was loosely tied to his strong waist. Though he did not do any drastic movements, the iron muscles on his arms could be seen clearly.
Among all the soldiers, his appearance was the most striking. He was handsome and charming!
Anthea suddenly turned around.
Seeing the doubt in Declan's eyes, she hesitated and explained, "Declan, I suddenly feel a little uncomfortable. Maybe I'm suffering from sunstroke. I guess I have to go back and rest for a while in my tent!"
