Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 1145
Anthea was sure that there was no warning sign when she came over earlier because if she had seen this warning sign, she would have walked around that spot. She wasn't stupid... She wrinkled up her face.
"What's wrong?" Adam asked.
Anthea slowly pursed her lips and snorted with resentment. "My intuition tells me that my accident has something to do with your sister-in-law, but I have no evidence!"
There was no one else in the forest apart from the students.
Anthea believed that she had never made any enemies in school, although she didn't make many friends apart from Leonardo either. She spent most of her time studying hard, but she got along just fine with her classmates.
The only one who had a grudge against her was probably Shelby, who had just transferred here.
So when she saw the warning sign that came out of nowhere, although there was no evidence, her woman's intuition told her that it had something to do with Shelby.
After she said that, she couldn't help but glance at Adam.
She thought that he would think that those were only words of jealousy, but he frowned, and his handsome face darkened.
Adam narrowed his eyes, and the look in his eyes was fierce. The energy he gave off had something murderous about it.
He held her little hand and said in a cold voice, "Fortunately, you are not injured this time, otherwise, I'll teach her a lesson." Anthea was touched. She blinked and asked, "Well, are you going to do that as her brother-in-law?"
"No." Adam shook his head and lowered his head to look at her. "As your man."
Anthea lowered her gaze shyly.
She was lifted off the ground. Leaning against his chest, she was lost in his masculine scent.
Back at the rendezvous point, the remaining bus and SUV were still waiting.
The sunlight dimmed more obviously in the mountains. The evening sky was tainted red, and the thick branches and blocked out the light.
The girls all stayed behind in the bus, and an instructor was there to look after them.
As time went by, the sky gradually darkened, and the mood in the bus became uneasy.
"It's been so long. Haven't they found her yet? It's getting dark!"
"I don't want to spend the night in the mountains!"
"There's nothing to worry about. There are so many of us here. If they really can't replace Anthea, won't she have to stay in the mountains alone for tonight? It'll be so scary!" Hearing this, everyone couldn't help but rub their arms.
Shelby liked the sound of that so much that she couldn't help but start humming a song.
She was very confident that the others would never replace Anthea.
She had put the warning sign back, and everyone would walk around it without searching the area. She was the only one who knew where Anthea was, but she would never tell them.
In the end, if they couldn't replace her, they might call the police. But when it came to it, it would be dark already. Maybe they wouldn't replace her until tomorrow morning. By then, Anthea would have stayed in the trap all night. She would definitely be scared out of her wits!
"Hey, look!"
In the bus, a girl suddenly cried out in a low voice.
Shelby paid no attention. She was still immersed in her good mood as she elegantly combed through her hair.
The girl cried out again, "They've found Anthea!"
"What?" Shelby shouted in disbelief.
Her voice made the girl jump. She then pointed outside the window. "She's right there. Chief Instructor Chin has found her!"
Everyone looked in that direction at the same time and saw Adam in his camouflage uniform and military boots. He was as tall and strong as a big tree. Holding Anthea in his arms, he walked steadily toward them.
They looked like a scene from a movie.
The petite Anthea looked as light as a twig in his arms. They looked perfect together, and the evening sunlight gave them a rosy outline.
"Oh my god! Am I seeing things? Chief Instructor Chin is carrying her!"
"And she's lying in his arms! I'm so envious!"
"Why is she always so lucky? Even the bad things turned out to be good. I want to be as lucky as she is!"
All the girls were talking at the same time, and their voices almost ripped open the roof of the bus. They held one another's hands with envious looks on their faces, wishing that they were in Adam's arms now. What they said made Shelby's face contort with rage.
She didn't expect that they could replace Anthea. Not only was she found, but she was also found by Adam. Moreover, he was holding her in such an intimate manner. Shelby was filled with jealousy. She hoped, more than anyone else, that she was the one in Adam's arms!
Adam was getting closer and closer to the bus. Although Anthea couldn't hear what the girls were talking about, she could see that they were staring at her. She was so shy that she buried her face in her arms. She struggled and tried to jump out of his arms. "My classmates are watching me. Let me down!"
After coming out of the cave, Adam had carried her all the way back.
Although the journey was quite long, he didn't seem affected at all and moved as easily as though he was walking upon a level road while holding her tightly in his arms. It seemed that he was yet to recover from the fear of her suddenly disappearing into a cave. He felt as if she would be in danger again as soon as he let go of her.
No one was around just then, so she let him carry her, but now, everyone was watching!
He was an instructor, and Shelby was on the bus. She knew their relationship...
"Don't worry about it." Adam wasn't planning to put her down.
He adjusted his arms and held her tighter. "I'll just say that you've sprained your ankle."
Anthea didn't know what to say. So be it.
However, all the gazes still made her feel very shy!
She could tell the one person's gaze was particularly intense, and it was a mixture of envy and hatred.
Anthea knew who it was without looking at the face.
"Anthea, hold my neck," Adam suddenly said.
Anthea obediently did as she was told.
She knew that he was doing it on purpose to upset Shelby.
After they came back, Adam contacted the others through the walkie-talkie, and the other instructors and boys who went out to look for her came back one after another.
Leonardo was out of breath when he ran back. Seeing that she was unharmed, he breathed a sigh of relief.
The instructors arranged for the students to get back onto the bus. It was already late, so they had to hurry back to school.
Adam still had no intention of letting go of Anthea.
He had to keep her under his nose, otherwise, he couldn't stop worrying.
He strode to the SUV, opened the car door, and put her inside. Then, he said solemnly, "Anthea has sprained her ankle. When we get back in town, I'll take her to the hospital." Hearing that, everyone nodded. None of the instructors of students raised any objections. They all found his suggestion reasonable.
Leonardo rolled his eyes silently.
