Queen Of The Alpha
Chapter 36

After the event in the bathroom Layan was strange. Or so Priscilla had concluded. And that was already a week ago. His behaviour was irregular and unpredictable.

He was rejecting her as before, but at the same time he wasn’t. It wasn’t one of the times he had rejected her.

Not once had she caught him staring at her, only to have him click his tongue as if he was annoyed and leave after she asked him what was wrong. When they slept, in the middle of the night he would slip his arm around her waist and pull her to his chest, occasionally licking the bite.

At other times he would take her to the bathroom after training with Kei, and once he left her in the tub, he would look hesitant whether to leave or stay. And every time she grabbed his hand, he would pull her hand away as if it was burning and run out of there. He had never healed her inside that place again, he did it before as if fearing the scene would repeat itself.

Yes, his reactions in the last few days were… complicated and that confused her even more.

He either loved her or he didn’t.

She couldn’t come to a clear conclusion. Layan was behaving too possessive, especially in the last two days. He growled at every wolf that walked past her and lingered on her person. It was considerable given that her scent was becoming irregularly sweet.

But on the other hand, if she made a pass at him or sat on him, in the night, just to see if they would go one step further, he would retreat two. Now he would only k**s her after she arrived all beaten to a pulp and barely able to move.

AHHHHH, she’d kill him if she could. She was having a lot of trouble dealing with the insecure Oh big alpha. Alpha her a*s, her mother was not a supposed alpha and she was the one who wore the trousers in the relationship and the pack.

-Princess, what’s wrong,” Kei’s voice echoed behind her.

It was time for training and she was waiting for him on time in the backyard. She turned her face over her shoulder. His expression was naturally cold but there was something about it that made her beta frown.

-Still having trouble with the alpha,” he walked to stand in front of the she-wolf.

-He crossed his arms in front of his chest and sighed, “It’s wearing me out.

-Isn’t our plan working?

She tilted her head with a grimace.

-50-50. He’s more dominant with me. He touches me but rejects me at the same time. Is your alpha so indecisive?

Kei blinked several times and shook her head. Layan was the most confident wolf he knew, otherwise he wouldn’t be so loyal to him.

-Give him time. He must be in a personal and acceptance dilemma.

-She shook her head from side to side, taking the tension out of the muscles in her neck.

She counted, she had just over 20 days to replace Liam and take care of him before he did any more damage.

-Kei, I know it’s against Layan’s orders, but I have to skip training. I want to give the pack a tour.

The beta narrowed his eyes.

-Your intention?

-She smiled slightly, “Don’t worry, I won’t make trouble or make your alpha any more jealous, he does that on his own,” she raised her eyes casually.

-You can’t go alone. Alpha’s orders. I will go with you. Besides, hasn’t he noticed her condition?

This time it was she who blinked.

-What do you mean? Apart from the part where you beat me to a pulp every day and I’m a bit tired, I don’t feel anything abnormal about my-” “What do you mean?

-Princess, how old are you right now?

Priscilla frowned. Are you…

-Are you talking about my heat?

He nodded his head.

-You smell too sweet, sweeter than usual even though it doesn’t seem to have arrived, but it should be soon. Maybe in a week or two. And even if the alpha has marked you temporarily, you’re still vulnerable to another wolf taking you during that time and replacing the alpha’s mark with his own.

A smile tugged at Priscilla’s mouth.

-Crazy for anyone who dares touch me during my rut, other than my wolf.

-Trust is the danger.

The she-wolf ran her hand through her hair and played with the end strands of her long, dark braid.

-You don’t have to worry about such details. I’ll make sure I’m in the right place at the right time when my rut comes. I will not let anyone else mark my neck, and whoever dares can k**s this world goodbye.

Her words made the beta shudder. He knew that she-wolf was a tough cookie, but he didn’t know just how tough. Poor his alpha, no wonder he was in his head most of the time, wondering what he should do about her. Priscilla was not a submissive she-wolf who would wait for him or do his bidding, just like that.

-Well, let’s go,” Priscilla turned around and took several steps forward only to replace that the beta wasn’t following her. She looked at him and noticed he was pale. She opened her lips to speak when a voice interrupted her.

-KEI,” a slightly high-pitched but still masculine call echoed from behind the beta.

His body froze and a bead of sweat ran down his cheek. His fists clenched until his knuckles turned white. At the wolf’s overreaction, she leaned to the side to see who was capable of getting him out of control like that.

And then she understood.

-Victor,” the wolf’s name came out of Priscilla’s mouth and he stopped in front of her with an elegant smile worthy of his full bearing.

-It’s a pleasure, my dear. I didn’t imagine I would be greeted by my beta and my alpha’s fiancée,” Victore’s voice was melodious despite being the Commander of the entire pack.

It was just that his physique bore no relation to his position. Priscilla remembered that the Commander of her father’s pack was her uncle Leoxi, who, please, was muscle all over. But this wolf on the other hand was…delicate wouldn’t be the exact word. More like beautiful.

He was a little taller than her, not by much but by a considerable amount of centimetres, still he was below the average wolf. He could reach Kei’s chin at most. Her hair was light, practically grey, not albino like the iron pack queen or silver like the twin alphas, it was a unique and rare colour. She wore it brushing her neck and ears and combed it to one side in soft waves. His eyes, wrapped in eyelashes of the same colour but very thick, turned ice blue, even more beautiful than Layan’s. His skin was fair, almost translucent, almost transparent. His skin was fair, almost translucent, covering a slender body with muscles that were not lush but nice.

If she hadn’t heard about him from Layan she wouldn’t have imagined that someone as beautiful as he was would be as much of a beast as it took to be the third in command of the pack. But what he had told her, that beauty was his greatest weapon.

This time it was she who smiled at him.

-I was intrigued to meet you, but the reality far exceeds expectations,” she said.

Victore let out a loud laugh.

-I like you…for an ice queen.

She raised an eyebrow.

-Is that my new nickname?

-For someone as beautiful as you, being a beauty like the legendary Ice Queen should not be an offence.

Priscilla blinked slowly.

-You’re right, it’s not.

Victore relaxed his face and with the corner of his eye searched the beta’s back.

-We haven’t seen each other for months and you won’t even look me in the face, Kei. Look how cold you can be.

Priscila reached slightly into the beta’s mind only to experience a whirlwind of emotions that made her recoil. She reached out and touched his arm.

-React wolf, you’re making a fool of yourself,” she murmured.

This seemed to make the beta react and he turned to greet Victore. He seemed to have magically recovered, though he still looked a little pale. The other wolf smiled broadly.

-That’s better,” he grabbed his hand in return, “I really missed you. And this time you’re not going to turn me down.

Kei swallowed dryly at those words, which made him nervous. Victore continued.

-I’ll bring the best wine you’ll ever taste, and I want to see you lose your mind to alcohol once and for all.

The beta did not refuse but neither did he nod. The atmosphere between them was a little heavy, and Priscilla stood still, waiting to see what would happen.

-Kei, where’s the alpha? I have things to notify you both.

He didn’t answer. He hadn’t said a word since the Commander had arrived.

-He’s in his office,” Priscilla answered, “Kei will take you,” she smiled her usual fake smile, not because she wanted to, it’s just that she didn’t really feel anything at that moment.

-Thank you, beautiful, in that case I’ll go ahead. Kei, I’ll wait for you inside,” and walked away from them.

Two minutes passed for Kei to breathe again when he heard Priscilla beside him.

-She questioned him with her silver orbs. “You don’t have to answer me if you don’t want to. Your mind was a mess before you faced him.

-Don’t you see it as something strange?

-Me? Not at all. A relationship between males is not that common because of the puppy instinct, but it does happen, at least as far as I know. Also, I don’t know if the others have noticed but my uncle Leoxi and Rodrigo have a strange story between them. I know it hasn’t gone unnoticed by my parents but they don’t mention anything about it. After all, my brother only opens up to him.

-I never thought you’d be so open-minded…

-And I thought you were the type to get nervous in front of the person you like.

-I don’t like him,” Kei’s tone was serious, “He’s the person I want as a partner. I’m in love with him.
