Queen Of The Alpha
Chapter 37

In love.

Love.

-What is that?” Priscilla asked, catching the beta off guard.

Kei blinked in confusion.

-Sorry princess, I didn’t understand.

-I mean…what does it feel like to be in love,” the question was innocent but that didn’t take away the weight of her words.

Unexpectedly, Kei’s always serious and beautiful face blushed.

-It’s a complicated thing to explain, princess, but you must feel it with the alpha,” she said.

Priscilla bowed her head.

-Kei, I have no emotions. I don’t know what it’s like to love someone. I don’t understand why they get nervous when they’re next to the wolf they like, nor the reason to smile when they just caress each other, or give each other a simple k**s on the cheek.

For a moment Kei felt sorry for her. How hard it was to live being an empty shell. He didn’t usually show much of what he felt either but there was nothing better than what he harbored for Victore. His stomach clenched every time he saw him and his mind went blank, but even so, he would never deny his feelings.

-Forget it,” Priscilla shook her head, interrupting his thoughts, “Go, someone is waiting for you,” she smiled at him, and it wasn’t the usual cold smile.

It was a warmer and more welcoming one. It made her look even more beautiful than she already was. If it wasn’t for the fact that he liked Victore, not because he was male but because of who he was. And also that she wasn’t his alpha’s she-wolf he might consider being attracted to her. But he had said so. If she wasn’t.

Priscilla waited for him to disappear to hide her smile. Lately she didn’t have to force it as much as she used to. It was more natural and it felt good to do it. Her mind still hadn’t disconnected from the situation before.

She always proclaimed that Layan was hers, but what was it that she really felt for him? Somehow, his touching her was exhilarating. Being by his side meant she could rest as all her powers plus the voices in her head disappeared completely.

She knew she wanted him by her side, but deep down, if she had feelings, would she love him?

She rubbed her head. This was no time for that. In the end, it would be a long time from now until her emotions truly returned completely. It was likely that her life span would reach its limit and they would remain buried inside her.

-Well, since I’m alone, it’s time for me to move,” her eyes twinkled, “Liam, let’s see what surprise box you’re in,” she let her fangs out and walked in the opposite direction from Kei.

This time she was alone. No wolf was following her. It was better this way. Having someone telling her in her mind what she was doing at that very moment was something that broke her concentration.

Of course and as she imagined she was once again the centre of attention in the village so she knew Layan would be informed of where she was. She had disobeyed his order so it was 100% certain that he would wait for her again? To scold her? That was the least of it. He wasn’t aware that the more she got mad at her the more she wanted to annoy him.

She just looked really sexy when she frowned and her eyes changed colour.

Priscilla walked for more than half an hour through the herd to no avail. She focused her mind on replaceing someone to resist his intrusion into her thoughts, but so far she was empty-handed. So far all the adult wolves he had checked were like open books.

And this was going to take longer than usual. Layan’s pack was much larger than his father’s especially in the layout of the houses and the wolves’ own establishments where one could sit and hang out as some did.

There was a lot of movement, everything was full of life and yet they still dodged it. She was aware that the males were looking at her much more than the she-wolves. Some up and down as if devouring her with their eyes. There was even a hint of l**t in their eyes.

Perhaps it was her scent. Her scent was close. Even Layan was being affected but she imagined it would be stronger on him because of the bond but apparently it was general.

He rounded the corner when someone slammed into his stomach and for the second time Priscina was on the ground, this time with her butt on the gravel.

-I’m sorry,” she recognised the voice she heard and looked up to replace it was the same one as the puppy from that time. The same one who had bumped into her.

-It seems our paths are destined to merge,” she said, getting up and wiping the back of her trousers. At least this time it wasn’t torn.

The puppy pursed his lips and almost wanted to curl into a ball. Priscilla realised that maybe she should be afraid of him given the comments that had been surrounding her lately so she raised her hand.

The boy saw the shadow above him and squeezed and closed his eyes tightly to receive a light caress on his head. Priscilla was shaking her dark hair full of black curls. He opened his eyes and looked up in confusion.

-Are you all right?” he heard her ask.

A grin appeared on the puppy’s mouth and he grabbed her hand and pulled her by the hand. Priscilla was surprised by this but didn’t protest. Not when it was the talk of the pack again. Like it could get tiring.

The little one led her to a small terrace with a few tables. There were hardly any wolves there but at the bottom she found one drinking from a glass.

-Brother,” the cub cried out, shaking his other little hand.

At that he raised his head and walked quickly towards them.

-Alim, don’t you drag people like that? How many times do I have to tell you?

-But brother Antoin,” he pouted, “I just wanted to show it to you.

The wolf raised his head and focused on Priscilla. His dark eyes swept up and down her, not unlike the males of the pack before.

-And she is she?” his tone was indescribable.

The beautiful she-wolf I collided with that time. See, I told you she was very pretty,” her eyes sparkled.

Priscilla was just appreciating the scene calmly. In front of her were two wolves, one adult, but still young, and one small. Both shared similar features, dark hair with soft curls and almost black eyes. Their fur was abnormally pale, it suddenly reminded her of her brothers and for some reason she wanted to see them at that very moment. Too bad they weren’t around.

But that was not what caught her attention.

She wasn’t interested in the physique of any other wolf besides her own, Layan was extremely hot, she didn’t have to go out looking for anything better. But that wasn’t what that wolf understood as he felt the weight of her gaze on him.

He smiled at her in a flirtatious way. In another moment Priscilla would have rejected him but she had found an interesting specimen so she smiled back.

-Please,” he grabbed the puppy and placed it in front of him, “Forgive my brother, he’s a bit impulsive and may have upset you. He bowed his head.

Priscilla could feel his scent enveloping her, as if she were feeling her way around. As if she wasn’t an available candidate.

-He didn’t bother me. We only bumped into each other more than once,” he said with his usual indifference.

-And I don’t remember seeing her before.

Wow, like there were those who didn’t know of her existence. Strange. Just as well.

-I’m just visiting. I belong to another pack.

A disappointed expression appeared on the Antoin’s face.

-It’s a pity,” he said dejectedly.

Priscilla raised an eyebrow.

-Why do you say that? You’ve only just met me.

He stroked his brother’s head.

-Because when Alim described you I imagined someone beautiful, I never thought the reality was more shocking than the image I had in my mind. You’re really beautiful and you smell too good,” he blurted out bluntly.

-I’m just an average she-wolf,” Priscilla sensed that the mood was getting right and did what she had been planning for a few minutes.

But

Her power was obfuscated when an unnatural weight settled on her shoulders possessively as the scent of annoying male that overshadowed whatever was on top of her at that precise moment. A growl rumbled beside her.

-Alpha,” Antoin’s voice trembled and he pulled his brother behind him trembling.

-What are you doing?” He pulled Priscilla closer to him. Her scent was like a waterfall that poured over her and around her, marking out the terrain.

-Alpha, I didn’t know she was his,” he lowered his head, genuinely frightened.

Rarely could Layan be seen so upset to the point that his eyes were those of his animal form.

-Go away,” he ordered.

He didn’t want to see the wolf’s face. It was bad enough that he was annoyed that Priscilla had disobeyed his orders for who knew what reason and left the castle alone. And to top it all off he found her being seduced by not only that wolf, he had already perceived a long list of many that had her in their sights. She couldn’t stop her wild side from taking over and marking the ground only he could tread.

Antoin didn’t even look at the she-wolf again. He grabbed his brother who also looked terrified and ran away.

Layan watched him go and clicked his tongue. He had acted on impulse. He had gotten so used to Priscilla herself being the one who wouldn’t let anyone near him that when someone did he was the one who exploded. Surely this would cost him dearly, having to put up with her taunting him for somehow professing to be his.

What he didn’t expect was for his arm to be struck hard, pulling it back from her narrow shoulders, for the scent of the she-wolf to turn rancid in her fury, and for her eyes to focus on him so cold that it chilled his soul.

-Bad time for a jealous fit, Layan.

The alpha was incredulous.

What the hell?
