Reborn Through Fire (Kisa and Gilbert) -
Chapter 1511
Chapter 1511
Thomas was holed up in the hotel. He was injured and his legs were practically useless. To make matters worse, his wound was starting to get infected, and he could not manage on his own without proper
care.
Meanwhile, Kisa was weak. When she tried to get up, she moved too quickly, causing her to stumble and fall clumsily to the ground as soon as her feet hit the floor.
Gilbert was standing there, watching her with piercing eyes. His voice was colder than the icy winter winds. "What the hell were you doing in that alley? Are you and David scheming something again?" Kisa shook her head, struggling to get back up from the ground. She looked at Gilbert and asked, "Is your grandma okay?"
Gilbert's eyes scanned her up and down as he spoke with a frigid tone," You look like a hot mess. Are you playing the distressed damsel to help David extract information about Grandma?"
As Kisa listened to Gilbert's baseless accusations, a sharp pain pierced her heart. She took a deep breath and said nothing, silently walking out with her head bowed.
Gilbert clenched his fists, his icy gaze filled with anger and a hint of intrigue.
This clinic was situated in the middle of nowhere. Kisa bought some ointment and gauze. When she came out, she was dizzy and disoriented. Thankfully, a breakfast cart was stationed outside the clinic, and she hurriedly grabbed two sandwiches and a cup of coffee, devouring them in no time. As she ate, she felt her energy returning.
Kisa glanced back at the clinic and noticed that Gilbert had yet to emerge. She really wanted to know who that woman was that answered Thomas's phone last night. But now, she felt like she had no right or position to ask. Suppressing her bitter thoughts, she staggered back to the hotel. 2
The old city district was practically abandoned, with countless alleys leading to nowhere. Kisa had been circling around the area for ages before finally replaceing her way back to the hotel. When she opened the door, her heart skipped a beat. Thomas was lying on the ground, completely motionless. She rushed over, grabbing his arm and calling out to him.
The man on the ground moved slightly, and he looked up at her groggily,' What is going on, Kisa?"
Kisa was in a frenzy of worry. "Why the hell did you pass out on the ground? I need to get you to the hospital now!"
"No. We can't go to the hospital, or else David will replace us soon," Thomas weakly protested, "I'm alright, just a bit dizzy and cold. I was going to get a drink of water, but I ended up falling over instead." She listened and quickly checked his forehead, which was hot to the touch.
"You are running a fever. What are we going to do? I don't give a damn, I'm calling for an ambulance," Kisa exclaimed in panic.
"No..." Thomas struggled to take Kisa's phone, "I'm fine, really. I just need to rest. Don't cry."
"But your wound is infected. Screw David. Even if he does replace us, what can he do? He's only after Madalyn, not me. He'll just kidnap me to get Gilbert to exchange me for Madalyn. I'm calling the ambulance," Kisa sobbed, trying to take the phone back from Thomas.
As Kisa was about to call for help, her phone was suddenly snatched away by a long, slender hand. She looked up in shock and found herself staring into Gilbert's dark and intense eyes. He had been following her all along. Her heart sank, and she frantically wiped away her tears as she pleaded," Please, Gilbert, save my brother! He got hurt trying to save me. Please!"
Thomas's face was deathly pale, his lips devoid of any color. His wounds on his arms and legs were infected and festering, making for a gruesome sight.
Gilbert took a deep breath and looked coldly at Kisa's teary, bloodshot eyes. "What the hell are you crying for? He's not dead."
