Chapter 1512

Gilbert just could not bring himself to be cruel to the woman before him. Despite everything, he took her to his place-a decrepit courtyard tucked away deep in the alleyways of the old city district.

Kelvin had been taking care of his grandmother's illness here. With Kelvin around, Kisa did not have to worry about Thomas' injury. But Kelvin was not exactly thrilled to see her. As soon as he laid eyes on her, his face darkened, and he grabbed Gilbert's arm, saying in a harsh tone, "Why the hell did you bring her here? What if she rats us out to David and puts your grandma in danger?" i

Kisa was quick to defend herself, blurting out, "I won't tell David. I just escaped from him."

Kelvin sneered, "Yeah, right. You're full of sh*t. Who knows if you and David cooked up this little scheme to mess with us."

"I didn't-'

"Enough!" Gilbert cut her off coldly, turning to Kelvin. "Check out Thomas' injury first."

Kelvin scowled. "Are you kidding me? Not only are you not kicking her out, but now you want me to treat an enemy's injury? You-"

"As soon as his injury heals, they are out of here," Gilbert snapped before heading inside.

Kelvin shot Kisa a hateful look. "Mrs. Kooper Sr. is his top priority. You better not be pulling a fast one on him this time."

Kisa bit her lip, feeling a sharp pain in her chest. She said nothing and just helped Thomas stumble inside. As she settled him in, a woman suddenly came in, carrying groceries and medicine in her hands. "Gilbert, I'm back," she called out sweetly, her voice intimate and natural.

Kisa stared at the woman, her heart sinking. 'Isn't she Sara? What is she doing here?' Memories of what happened at the Mullen residence flooded back, sending shivers down her spine. 'Sara had been sneaking around the Mullen residence, and David was there too. Who know if they are in cahoots? Moreover, she is hellbent on killing me. There's no way she's as innocent as she appears. But if I warn Gilber about her intentions, will he even believe me?'

Gilbert went up to Sara and took the groceries from her hands. "Rest a bit. I'll cook dinner."

Sara smiled and nodded, then looked at Kisa. "What are you doing here, Kisa? Weren't you locked up by David?"

Kisa did not respond, just coldly stared at her.

Suddenly, Sara walked over with a friendly smile, taking her hand. "I'm glad you're okay. I asked Gilbert to help you, but he didn't listen. He said you couldn't be in danger. Looks like he knows you better." Her words carried a deeper meaning.

Kisa pulled her hand away and walked upstairs without a word. Sara called after her, "Mrs. Kooper Sr. is resting upstairs. Don't disturb her."

Ignoring her, Kisa found Kelvin. He was tending to Thomas' wound, and upon seeing her, he just grunted and did not say a word. She looked at him for a while before whispering, "You guys need to be careful around Sara." Gilbert would not believe her, so she had to warn Kelvin.

Kelvin let out a cold laugh. "Do you know why Mrs. Kooper Sr. is safe here?" Kisa said nothing, but she had already pieced together some of the puzzle in her head.

Sure enough, Kelvin continued, "It's all thanks to Sara. The day you and David tried to take over the Kooper residence, it was Sara who saved Mrs. Kooper Sr."

"Have you ever wondered why she was able to save Mrs. Kooper Sr. in time?"

"What are you trying to say?" Kelvin impatiently interrupted her.

Kisa spoke in a low voice. "She's probably working with David. Remember what happened at the Mullen residence?" "Bang!"
