” WHAT ! ! ! ! ” she shouted at me. I rolled my eyes and sneered without her seeing my face. ” Firya , keep your voice down. These f*****g wolves are everywhere at the minute, remember ” I hiss at her. She narrows her eyes. ” How can I be calm Yiana? They want to come to our home. Where all our f*****g family is , desiccating. And your f*****g blowing it , I told you to not take him as a mate. We didn’t know enough about him, how he acts, who he is. There was no need for you to take a mate there ” she snapped, hissed at me. I rolled my eyes at her. ” It was another way in , another way to be trusted. How is it you can have a fake mate and I can’t ? ” I was sounding like a child. Deflecting , I knew I was messing up. I had even tried to use him to get them to change their minds , but apparently that was so unlike him too. As well as the fact he’s been missing from being around them. I glanced over at him and felt disgusted with myself.

The truth was , not that I would ever admit it. I was lonely , ever the one alone playing the goodie goodie sister. I have been stuck on this island for years with the same people , so maybe I have been enjoying having Devon around. Maybe I didn’t need to get a fake mate. But f**k it, I wanted to , not that I would ever let another man rule over me. But having male company was nice for the obvious reasons. Firya got to get out of here , have fun, I was stuck here. Searching for her magic.

” You could have just popped off the island and got yourself a fake one , it didn’t have to be one attached to these people Yiana , how the hell do we fix this now ? Stop them from going there. If Shira picks up on anything, that’s it, all of this could be over “, she starts marching up and down the living room. For once in our dynamic duo , I felt like I was the screw up , it was usually her. ” We don’t stop them, we let them go , we have that place cloaked. If she picks up on anything, it can be blamed on the fact they are where warlocks used to live. If we stop them, it brings more questions , more suspicion. We have to let this ride out. We will be there to block things , in the meantime. I need to stop the mind compulsion on him and just keep the mate bond going. He can’t be used to try and get information. The more he pushes now , I feel they will tell him less”. I looked at Devon who was sitting like a statue again.

” Its here Yiana , the magic is here ! Not back at our castle? Why are we moving away from it? This is the closest we have been for years in the search for it. We both felt it was being used. What we need to do is push them to retrieve it , use it.” I snarled at her, and rolled my eyes.m ” And then what Firya ? You think we can get close enough for mind control this time ? No we can not , we need to take it when it is not inside of her. Think with your brain instead of that hole between your legs for once. You come at me acting all cocky and like a smart a*s. Like any of this would be possible without me . You go swan around and do as you please , while I get stuck here. Maybe I wanted to be a w***e for once instead of you being one. ” I knew what she was going to do before she did it, so I blocked her.

She went to hurt Devon , no doubt the classic heart slowing down. Her favorite trick. She liked to watch the panic in their eyes as they clutched at their chest gasping for breath. So I blocked her magic. She screeched and stamped her foot like a child. She hated the fact I was forty-five minutes older , and more powerful. Me being born first most likely had nothing to do with the fact I could out beat her. But she blamed that. It was because I was the stronger of us both , even in the womb, I won the battle for power. ” We go with them and we block all their attempts to replace anything. You will not f*****g touch him , and you will not speak to me in such a way again. Do not forget I saved your life when father had your heart in his hands. I started all of this , I took the stand against him to save you. I killed father. I had what it took to get s**t done , while you let him nearly end you. Your attachment to men is sickening. You know it’s all a front and deep down it is his approval you seek so much. Too bad his bones are dust. You’ll never get it, Firya , when you learn that you may actually be intelligent enough to make big girl decisions. “

Her eyes widened , she looked at me furiously. I loved her dearly as I knew she loved me too , but to say we were identical twins who shared a room , I think we both hardly liked each other. Don’t get me wrong. I would kill anyone that even looked at her wrongly. But I could easily kill her myself most days. “Just because I actually live, Yiana does not make me any less strong. And father got the better of me. You were able to take him down because he was distracted. My heart in his hands gave us all of this freedom. You just choose to live like a troll. ” She vanishes before my eyes and I huff.

Looking at Devon on the sofa , I felt a twang in my chest. It was unfamiliar , something I didn’t recognise. Why I felt the need to protect him I have no clue , mostly maybe because if we just killed him. It would cause more trouble for us. His friend Enzo would not let his deaf go easy. Walking over, I straddled his h**s and looked at his handsome face. It would be so easy , he was realistically useless to me now. Unless we could change their distrust in us somehow.

” Devon , how would you normally act with a mate ? If you were back home and you found a mate among the wolves ? Around your friends, how are you with girls in general ? ” I asked him. He grinned , his eyes softening. ” I would be showing her off , I would have s*x with her on any surface, friends there or not. Us wolves are not shy ” he answered. I cringed , I had always been the more reserved one in my endeavors. ” The fates would match my mate to me , adventurous, wild, loved life and didn’t take things too seriously. She would love my friends as much as I did , and do anything for them ” he said, robotically.

s**t , no wonder they were suspicious. That wasn’t me at all. Maybe I should have mated him to Firya , or s**t even Violet herself before we started chasing her. We had observed them for a long time, making sure they would be the right people Sianna would help. More because of me being picky about who I wanted to reside with. But when we were watching her she was like that. Always laughing and having fun with Rion , even with strangers she was always so open and carefree.

Looking back, I pursed my lips. ” Devon, what would make your friends trust us again ?” He shrugged. ” Enzo is stubborn , once he believes something, it’s hard to change his mind. The only time I have seen him flip his thoughts so quickly was with Anthea. He’s crazy protective. I am not so sure what would change his mind now. ” This wasn’t good. I was thinking maybe we should just kill Enzo and take him out of the picture. A freak accident or something. When he spoke again, ” Anthea always wanted to see the good in people though. She trusts easily. “

Raising an eyebrow, I smiled at him. “Really well, that is a thought , so here is the thing, Devon. I want you to act like you always would normally. Me and you will have public s*x and show too much public displays of affection. I will just have to channel my sister to pull this off. I want you to forget everything I have ever manipulated your mind to do , and just act yourself. The only thing I want you to do is to tell me when no one is around, is if you learn of where the magic is, or if you think I am making them more suspicious, by not being a mate that would be mated to you. Got it ? ” I asked him.

I think I had been filling his mind too much with stuff that he had become a shell of the Devon they knew. Not going to lie, this was something my sister did beat me at. She was better at the mind stuff. Mine always ended up being too robotic. Like they were on auto pilot. ” Just be myself , only tell you if i replace out about the magic or if you aren’t being how a mate would act, Forget everything else” he repeats. I nod my head and he smiles , his hands automatically come around and grab my bum and he gets this wicked gleam to his eye. Now all I needed to do was loosen up while trying to keep those fuckers from replaceing out about all of this. When this was all done , I couldn’t wait to get rid of them all. Tie up loose ends. That magic would be mine and I would finally be where I was always meant to be. Feared and respected by all , no longer hiding. The council will be begging me to be a friend and not an enemy. I will be on top of every f*****g world out there with Sianna’s magic.

Devon pulled me in for a k**s and I for one second, let my control go.
