Rejected, Broken And Forgotten -
Chapter 101
Paris’s POV
I hope everything is done now. I am tired of fighting all the time. I want peace and rest, so Walker and I can start with a family. We still need to destroy the labs, and all the equipment and scientists left. I hate that we had to kill all those creatures, but they were beyond help. They were neither human nor wolf anymore, and it felt like their brains were fried from all the experiments they tried on them. My heart is not built to see stuff like that. I silently pray to the Moon Goddess and ask her why this happens. I know it is not her mistake, as she is a goddess and can not intervene in our world. I sigh as we walk into the lab in the park. The lab is inside a cave and is well hidden. As we step into the cave, lights come on in the distance as if to guide us into the secret that lies in the cave.
“Wow, we should follow the lights, but we need to be careful as we do not know what is still inside,” Jeff says.
“Let us not waste time. I want to get this done and over with and go home and have some peace,” I say.
“I agree. I am tired of all this fighting. We have been fighting for a long time. It is time for peace on earth so that we can have some normality in our lives,” Walker says. I take his hand as we start following the lights. We walk deeper into the cave and stand in front of a steel door, or it looks like steel, but I think it is silver to keep the creatures inside and maybe some outside. I take out the keycard I found on the woman before I snapped her neck. I use it on the door, and it opens before us. We walk inside, and I am astonished to see how big the lab is. We are standing on top of a steel balcony, looking down at computers and the empty spaces where the equipment we destroyed was supposed to go. The whole building seems silent, but as we look around, we see caged creatures sitting there, staring in front of them. I wonder if the scientists have started experimenting on them, as some are in human form, but others are in wolf form. I can see they look as if they would rather die than be here any longer. We walk down the stairs and hear humans talking in the distance.
“The General should have been back by now. Do you think we should go and look for him?” Someone asks.
“No, he told us to stay put. The King and Queen of werewolves are around, and I promise you I do not want to run into them,” Another says.
“I hear they are strong and mighty warriors,” Someone says.
“I am not scared of them. We do have silver bullets. What can a werewolf do against a silver bullet, Nick?” The first person asks.
“Steve, we can only shoot that many times before we run out of bullets,” Nick says.
“Yeah, but I am one of the best shots in the military, and I am from the special forces,” Steve says.
“Then why are you here? Why did you leave the army to join, General Crazy?” Nick asks.
“I got tired of that life, and old Crazy is paying better than the military,” Steve says. I shake my head. I know how humans like to brag about their achievements, but usually, those who never got anywhere in life. I bet he was not good enough for the special forces and only stayed there for a week, then was kicked out. We walk to where we hear the two talk. We show the creatures to keep quiet. They must realize we are there to help them. I can see hope in their eyes. I believe Steve and Nick are not the only ones here, and they are on guard while the others are busy elsewhere or sleeping. We walk softly and see them sitting in what looks like a kitchen. They are drinking coffee, and their backs are turned to the door. Walker and I run over to where they are sitting, and before they even have time to look up, we have their guns in our hands.
“Good morning, Steve and Nick. How are you doing this morning?” I ask sarcastically.
“Who are you, and how did you get in here?” Steve asks.
“I thought you were in the special forces! Why didn’t you hear them coming?” Nick asks.
“Don’t you know us from the photos your boss likes to spread around?” Walker asks.
“Well, “liked” as he is dead, honey,” I say.
“Oh yeah, I almost forgot we killed General Crazy last night with all his monsters,” Walker says.
“You are the King and Queen of werewolves?” Steve asks. I smile as I clap my hands.
“Sit down, Nick. One more move, and you are dead,” Walker says. Nick sits down again. I see the panic button in the corner, knowing he wants to press it. Herman comes walking in.
“The creatures are okay. They did not experiment with them, but most are rogues. There are no dogmen with them. I think this was their backup lab, and they did not have the equipment or the scientists here to do the experiments. We will let them out, and Ace will take them to the pack, but some rogues have no human side. We can still help them but will have to keep them in the silver cuffs until we get them to the packhouse,” Herman says.
“Tell Ace he and his men can take them. The rest of you will come with Paris and me,” Walker says.
“Put these two in the cages,” I say. I do not know what we will do with Steve and Nick yet.
“We will be right back, King, Queen,” Herman says as he takes Nick and Steve by their necks, and we hear them complaining as they are locked in the cages.
We open another one of the steel doors or silver, and I do not know, as I will not touch it. We walk down a hallway with many doors leading out of it. Walker and I stand at the first door while our men cover the others. Walker gives the signal, and we kick open the doors. Inside the room are beds and people resting in them. We move fast before they can even wake up, and we know they must be tired of waiting all night for the equipment and their general. We move from bed to bed, grabbing guns and pulling humans out of their beds. We march them to the cages and leave them with Nick and Steve in the cells. We look around and replace nothing else but empty rooms with empty cells that look like prison cells. The rest of the building is clear, and we look around for their ammunition room. We replace it behind a storage room and use the explosives they have to wire the whole building.
“What will we do with the humans in the cages?” I ask Walker.
“I do not know yet. Maybe blow them up with the building. They are useless to us, and they are evil. We can not let them into the world and allow them to talk about us,” Walker says.
“Or we can scratch them and turn them into wolves,” I say.
“Yeah, but then we will have to take them with us until they turn for the first time,” Walker says.
“I am so tired of killing everyone that I am looking for a way out,” I say.
“I know, my love, but what they did was wrong, and they need to be punished,” Walker says.
“I know, but would it not be a worse punishment for them if they had to become what they used to torture?” I ask.
“Maybe, but then they are our problem again. I will let Ace decide since he will be the new Alpha of the Pack. For now, we will take them with us,” Walker says.
“Let us take them with us then and let Ace decide, as they will be his problem after all,” I say. Ace and his warriors have taken the creatures to the packhouse, and they will first lock up all the rogues in the dungeon. Maybe we should lock the humans up there as well. We travel on foot, but there are a few vehicles we can use to transport humans. The vampires with us compel them to follow us and say nothing to anyone if they ask questions. We load the humans into a truck. Then we blow up the lab and everything that is around it. We know the rangers may have heard it, but the shamans quickly turn everything back to normal, hiding the cave that has caved in. We take the back road out of the park, following the map that is in the truck showing where the rangers and hikers do not go often. The shamans are hiding all our tracks, and we know we will leave behind many confused rangers. We will return to the other lab the following day as we must first care for the humans and the creatures we do not know what to do with.
When we reach the packhouse with the humans, Ace comes running toward us. He looks pleased to see us. I hope nothing terrible has happened, as I am not in the mood for more trouble than we have already faced today. I am tired of fighting and long to rest a while before we have to fight again. Can these evil beings not just disappear for a while and give us a break?
“Alpha, everything is under control, and the rogues have been locked in the dungeon until we can figure out a way to get them to act like wolves again,” Ace says.
“That is good news, and I was hoping you do not have bad news for us anymore,” I say.
“We brought you some humans. You can decide what to do with them since I will hand you the Cloverfield pack. You will be the new Alpha, and I know you will be looking after this pack like they are your children,” Walker says.
“Alpha, we do not want to lose you and the Luna,” Ace says, and he looks sad.
“You will still be part of our Kingdom and never lose us. We will still come and visit,” Walker says. I can feel my mate is sad, but it is best for the pack to have an Alpha who can lead them and be with them constantly when they need him.
“I will put the humans in the cells away from the rogues, as they will kill them if they get their claws on them. We must turn the humans into wolves and help them adapt. I do not want to kill them as I feel Mikhail and the General misled them,” Ace says.
“You will be an incredible Alpha, Ace,” I say. I would have done the same. I know he has love in his heart and is a good wolf. I know Selene made a wolf out of the breath of the wind, the beauty of the earth and the soul of an angel. We are meant to protect and not to destroy. We are her children and we want her to be proud of us. I hope she is looking down on us and see that Ace is a good soul and that she will bless him with a good mate. I hope he will have sons and daughters he can be proud of and that will help him in the future to lead this pack and run it when he is gone.
