Third person’s POV

The following morning, Mariam is up early. She is ready to go to where she saw Jerry’s family was. She did not tell anyone yet, but she feels that the people there are not very friendly. She needs to talk to the King and Queen, and she smiles as she notices the two of them disappear early in the night while the wolves of the New Kingdom are still celebrating. She looks at Jonathan, who is sleeping. They did not sleep in one bed, but she did allow him to sleep with her in a room. Only a few rooms in the new castle can be used, but they all sleep in the castle of the old King George. She wonders if he can stay in the castle now that he is no longer King and the Kingdom of Essex no longer exists. That is also one problem the King and Queen will have to address. What are they going to do with the old royals of the old kingdoms? Will they let them be advisors? Who knows? It is all up to the King and Queen. They will figure it all out, and she is so pleased that the King and Queen want to make her the magical advisor of the Kingdom. For once, Mariam feels like she belongs somewhere and is part of something. She also needs to talk to the King and Queen about her mother. She will ask them if her mother can become part of the Kingdom. She knows that witches are not allowed in the Kingdom, but she will beg them to make an exception if she must.

“You are up early,” Jonathan says. Werewolves do not get hangovers, and Jonathan is pleased about that, as he had too much to drink last night. They also do not get drunk as their metabolisms work too fast to make them drunk.

“Yeah, you and I need to go and scout out where they keep the rogue’s family. I feel the humans that took them are not friendly to wolves, and something is happening that we do not know about. But we need to replace out when we go shout it out. The King and Queen will be busy today as they have a lot of things to worry about and a new Kingdom to set up, so it will help them if we go and sort out one thing for them,” Mariam says.

“Fine, I am ready. We can go,” Jonathan says. He and Miriam get ready to leave, and Jonathan mind-links Walker to let him know what he and Mariam are up to. Walker tells them to be careful. He and Paris are busy with Jeffrey putting up a war council and choosing a second in command, since Walker and Paris do not have children yet. Mariam mind-links Paris and asks her if she can bring her mother. Paris tells Mariam it will be an honor to meet her mother and that her mother will have a new home in the Kingdom. Mariam is surprised that she did not have to beg for a place for her mother in the Kingdom, and she is so happy she k****s Jonathan, who is so surprised that he can not even take advantage of the little k**s on his lips. Jonathan tries to pull her closer, but Mariam is too fast and moves out of his way, laughing.

“That is not fair! You can k**s me, but I can not k**s you back,” Jonathan complains.

“It is not my fault you are too slow, “Mariam laughs. They are dressed and ready to go. Mariam and Jonathan set out to the forest but do not change to their wolves. They run for about an hour until Mariam shows Jonathan to start walking. They get to what looks like an army base and pretend to be humans out for a morning stroll.

“Halt, who goes there!” A human soldier shouts out.

“Oh, sorry, sir. My husband and I were out for a morning stroll and did not know we were trespassing. We are new to this area and just came from the states. My parents are staying here, and we did not mean to walk into your area,” Mariam says. The older soldier looks at the handsome young couple. He can not be angry with them. How were they supposed to know this is military grounds if they are from the states? Mariam used an American accent she had heard from Paris, Jonathan, and Walker.

“Be careful out here, honey. Strange things are going on in these woods, and I do not want you and your husband to run into strange creatures,” He says, but he looks serious.

“Are there aliens in the woods? See babe. I told you there are aliens,” Jonathan plays along.

“Things, worse than aliens, my friend, but I am not allowed to talk about it. Get your butts out of here before someone else sees you,” The soldier says. Mariam and Jonathan look at the soldier with big eyes. Still, since the grounds of the army camp are far away from the Kingdom, they know someone sold the werewolves to the army, as the human army would not go into a village, take civilians and burn down their houses. In their eyes, they would not have known that the family they had was werewolves unless someone betrayed them or sold them out. Mariam and Jonathan have seen enough. They know they had better get out of there because whoever crosses the family will betray them if they replace them there.

“Well, we will go straight to our car and get out of here. Thank you for the warning, sir,” Marriam says. They know the family is most probably held for the army to research. Hopefully, there are no scientists there that can help them with their research. They will have to rescue the family without the humans knowing what is happening. Mariam thinks about using her magic, but first, they will need to replace out who is behind the capture of the family and how many werewolves there are in the captivity of the humans. Also, how do humans contain werewolves? They must know they need to use silver; not even Mariam is powerful enough to overcome silver’s power over werewolves.

They move away and into the woods. As soon as they are out of sight of the soldiers, they start running like hell, afraid they may be caught near the camp. They reach the border of the Kingdom and run straight to the King and Queen to tell them what they have found out and help make a plan to save the werewolf family in captivity, but first, they go to the dungeon. They must talk to the rogue first to replace out what he knows. As they walk in, Jerry looks up and sees the powerful magical wolf of last night.

“We know where your family is, but we need your help to save them,” Marriam says. The rogue shows interest, and he even looks happy.

“Are they alive?” He asks.

“They are alive, but I feel you know more than you told us,” Mariam says.

“Well, I wanted you to replace them first before I tell you why I killed the human,” Jerry says. He has no problem telling them what he knows, but he is sure his family is dead, as they told him. He suspects they wanted him to become a rogue, and he has no idea why, but he wants to replace out everything, and now that he knows his family is alive, he needs to help the wolves who want to save his family. He will help them where he can.

“So, are you going to tell us what happened?” Mariam asks.

“I was at war for a long time. My village is at the edge of the Kingdom of Essex. I made friends with some of the hunters. They have been our friends for centuries, and I trust Valentino. He was always a friend of the Kingdom. Valentino is old, and he is now too old to fight anymore. Hunter lives long, but they eventually die. I have not seen Valentino in years. He has many sons and daughters he made with other hunter-women over the years and some with normal humans. Unlike us, hunters are not faithful to a mate. They have multiple women, and where they travel, they make children. Some of the children are born with the ability of the hunter, but many do not have the powers of the hunters and are not real hunters. They hope to impress their fathers by catching creatures and making their fathers believe they have the abilities. One of Valentino’s sons, Kaleb, is one of them. It is the human I killed, as I thought he killed my family to prove to Valentino that he was a true hunter, although everyone knew he never had the abilities of a hunter. Now I think he just sold out my family to humans, and I do not know what they are doing to my family. Can you ask the King and Queen to release me as I want to help save my family?” Jeremiah tells his side of the story. He thought Kaleb was his friend at one time.

“We are on our way to talking to them now. I will fetch you if they allow us to take you out of jail. I will not save your family without you, but you will have to learn to control your wolf and your emotions,” Mariam says.

“We will see you in a while,” Jonathan says.

Jonathan and Mariam run to the new Palace as they know all the wolves have gathered there. The old kings and royals are unhappy that they will have no status in the new Kingdom. Although they are the family of Paris and Walker, Paris and Walker are adamant that they will only stay King and the Queen of the Kingdom reset, and the royals become a new family. Walker and Paris have decided to take a whole new surname as they want no reminder of their past or John and Oliver. They decided to adopt Jeffrey’s surname and name him the second in line for the crown if anything happens to them if they die before they have children. Jeffrey is honored but does not know what to do or say. The other ex-royals are a little mad, but George laughs as he does not mind being a typical werewolf. All the wealth of the Kingdom will be put to use to help the wolves to grow and build a new empire, and Paris and Walker have decided they will not take a salary as King and Queen and will, like all the other wolves, work for their money. The old royals are angry as they will lose all the wealth they got from taxes and other means, but there is nothing they can do about it. London and Nathan are happy as he is a doctor now, and they can make a living off his salary. London will replace something to do to help him. The rest do not know what they will do, as they have no skills and are used to living off the other wolves and the riches of the kingdoms. Elena is happy that the Kingdom will pay her and Jeff, so she does not worry about being a royal. She hated it anyway, and if her mate became King, she would stand by him, but she did not like it.

“King, Queen, we found where they are keeping Jerry’s family, but it is not good news,” Mariam says as they reach Paris, Walker, and the rest. They go on to explain everything, and Walker and Paris are worried that there is a human army base on their doorstep. They will have to do something about it, but first, they need to rescue all the werewolves at that base and help them.

“Well, go get Jerry so we can save his family and whatever other wolves are trapped there,” Paris says.

“Jonathan, a few men, and I will go look for Valentino as we need to replace out what he knows before we go near the army base of the humans,” Mariam says.

“Well, that is a good idea. We will scout the base and see what more we can pick up. We will meet here again at midnight,” Walker says.

“The rest stay here with Elena and me, and we will see what we can replace out on the internet about this area and the army base,” Jeffrey says. Everyone goes where they belong, and Mariam and Jonathan go to fetch Jerry first so he can be part of it all. Paris and Walker gave their permission as they trusted Mariam and Jonathan’s judgment of the rogue,
