Paris’ POV

I feel like a murderer. It does not feel good to kill humans, but I know we had to do it to save the wolves. It is against our nature to kill humans, but these humans knew what they were doing and knew they were about to kill and destroy werewolf families. As I see Jerry unite with his family, I feel better, but I still feel guilty. Maybe we could have saved some of the soldiers who did not know what was happening. They were just soldiers doing their duty and must have families at home. I feel so sad for the poor soldiers that did not know anything about their task.

“Paris, honey, come and look at this we found in the camp,” Walker says as he walks towards me with papers in his hands. I take the documents from him and read quickly through them. Every soldier in this camp knew about the werewolves, and they signed off on the government having any responsibility towards their families if they died in the line of duty. All of a sudden, I feel angry. How dare they come here and kill all the werewolves as if we are wild animals without feelings and experiment on us like lab rats? They all knew that they had come here to hunt werewolves. They did not even ask questions. Yeah, one rogue killed a few humans, but is it not the same as a serial killer in the human world?

“They all knew why they were here and did not even give us a chance?” I ask Walker.

“Yes, babe, they did not care. They wanted to come here and kill us. So it was them or us. I also felt bad at first, but now I do not,” Walker says. I read on, and I get even angrier.

“They were trained to kill us?” I ask.

“Yeah, they had special training to kill werewolves,” Walker says. We are busy moving the camp, and I know this is what we will replace worldwide. Humans are training to kill their protectors. I still can not hate all humans, but I don’t like those who know how to kill their protectors. They do not even give us a chance to explain ourselves. They want to hunt us down and kill us as if we are wild animals and have no feelings or love in our hearts. Do they know how we protect them worldwide? What will happen to them if the vampires take over and turn them all? They will have no souls. They will all die and become vampires. They will have to breed humans to feed off. What a damned life will humans have on this earth? They will be food for vampires and their slaves. They do not know how they will live without hunters and werewolves. I am angry because humans think of us as monsters while we are protectors. I hate what humans have become and their technology. I wish I could destroy all of it.

“Honey, not all humans are evil. It is the ones that think they know everything. It would be best if you calmed down. I love you, and you have the rest of the wolves and me. We will save as many wolves as possible and even see if there are some rogues we can save. We will still be the protectors of humans and protect those that need our protection,” Walker says. Walker pulls me up and into his arms. I know he loves me as much as I love him. He will always be my mate and my partner.

“I know what you say, right, and I know I need to be tougher, but it just does not feel right to kill humans or our kind. I killed my grandfather and now humans. I feel like I failed them all,” Paris says.

“You hardly knew your grandfather, and he was a traitor. He hurt your grandmother, and if you did not kill him, the people of the Kingdom would have seen you as a weakling. These humans looked for trouble with us, and we gave them a chance to leave, and they did not. They were hurting and capturing innocent wolves that were their protectors. We did what we had to do, honey. Now lift your chin and let’s finish our job here,” Walker says. I smile as he always makes me feel better. We get back to work to clean up the camp and break down the building so we can put it up on the other side, far away from our Kingdom. We know there are no werewolves there, and Samual, Jasmine, and Val will keep an eye on the camp and go and fetch supplies to keep the main base from looking for them too fast. They will also radio them as soon as the base is moved, and the hunters will first operate the base and wear the uniforms of the humans. We will keep the bodies in cold rooms to keep them from decomposing too fast. By the time the hunters leave, they will place the human bodies all over the camp and make it look like wolves attacked the base and killed everyone. All our plans are intact. Within a week, we moved the camp far away from our Kingdom.

The hunters took over the base, and everything was running smoothly. The humans’ main base permitted the camp to be moved to go after the wolves, as no wolves were left on the old site. We had everything planned out, and we were ready to leave and go back to the Kingdom before we left for the states to see what was happening to the wolves. We are happy that the wolves of the Kingdom will be safe in the hands of my grandmother and Gerald. I need Elena, Jeff, Mariam, and Jonathan to accompany us. We know the wolves of the Kingdom will be in great hands, as we know my grandmother is a warrior and can lead the soldiers of the Kingdom into battle if she has to. I hope they do not have to fight until we are back. Walker and I walk over to Val, where he and his men are playing cards.

“Val, are you sure you will be okay here?” Walker asks.

“We are hunters, and this is our dream life. Living in nature and having fun,” Val smiles.

“If you have any problems, you know how to contact us,” I say.

“We know, Queen. We will be fine and contact you as soon as we need help, but for now, the main human base is not expecting anything and are happy with the bogus research we sent them. The human scientists are not very clever, although they think they are,” Val says as he laughs.

“Yeah, I read their bullshit. They think werewolves are lone creatures, and that is bullshit. The things they wrote and researched sound like a movie they watched,” I laugh. Walker and I get ready to leave with our men. We greet the hunters as we are prepared to go to our Kingdom. We will make our other plans from there. We will pretend to be hikers if more humans are in these areas. Samuel and Jasmine have given us devices that will scramble the signal of the human detectors. It will make all werewolves look like humans once they use their detection devices. It is a tiny little thing that looks like a button, and we will make a lot of them and spread them among the wolves here and in the countries we will go to where werewolves need help. They have given us plans to make the devices, and we will put up a factory where many wolves will work to make the tiny devices. We have a lot to do before we can leave the Kingdom, as we first have to protect our people. As we walked through the bushes, we got to a camp of humans. They were all looking a little bewildered.

“Oh, thank goodness, other humans!” One of the women shouts when they see us.

“Hi, what are you doing in these parts of the woods,” I ask.

“We got lost, and something big is stalking us,” A man says.

“In these parts, we do not normally get big animals,” Walker says.

“We know, but this thing is no animal. He has been following us for nights now, and we can not seem to get our way out of the woods. I know it sounds crazy, but he looks like a half-wolf, half-human,” The woman cries. Walker and I look at each other. It can not be a rogue. A rogue would have killed them by now. We will have to get these people out of here and then come back and see what it is.

“We know these parts of the wood, and we can take you to the nearest town, but I would suggest that you do not come camping here again,” I say.

“I am never going camping again. My name is Johanna, and my husband’s name is Frank. We can not thank you enough for helping us out of these woods,” Johanna says.

“I am Adele, and my husband is Morris,” The other woman says. They are only four, and we wonder what was stalking them. Is it a rogue that wanted to play games with his prey before he killed them? I hear something in the bushes, and as I look up, I can see the wolf’s face looking at us. He looks me straight in the eyes and smiles. I know he is not a rogue, but he is not in a pack, either. Maybe he is just a lone wolf that kept his human side.

“Excuse me for a while,” I say as I walk into the bushes, where I see the wolf.

“Be careful,” Adele shouts. I ignore her as I walk to the old wolf, who backs away to a place where these humans can not see us.

“My Queen, I did not want to harm those humans, and I was trying to keep them from walking into the territory of the rogues. I have no pack, but I kept my human side. I am not evil, and I know you are the one that united the Kingdoms with your mate, the King,” He says.

“What is your name?” I ask.

“My name is Walter. I am staying here in the wilderness. King John banned me from the Kingdom of Mercia because I dared to go against his word,” Walter says.

“You still have family in the Kingdom?” I ask.

“Yes, my Queen, that is why I have kept my humanity, because I get to see them once in a while. I am an engineer and used to work for King John,” Walter says.

“Go back home! I permit you to return home. Thank you for doing your duty as a wolf and protecting these humans. Where are the rogues?” I ask.

“They live around here, but they move around, and I had to keep the humans safe. While I was around the humans, they would not come near as they thought the humans were my prey, and they thought I was crazy, as I kept myself crazy. Thank you for permitting me to go home, Queen. I will serve you and the King for the rest of my life,” Walter says as he starts running in the direction of the Kingdom. I know he is not a rogue, as his eyes are not red like those of rogues. As I stand there, I hear a growl from behind me. I know it is a growl of a rogue. Walker must have heard it because he walks into the clearing and stands next to me. The rogue looks at us, confused, as if he knows who we are.

“Well, if it isn’t the King and Queen of werewolves. We want those humans,” The rogue growls, and Walker and I smile at each other. We want a real fight, and these rogues have come to us on a bad day.
