“What are you talking about?” I found myself asking after what felt like forever. The experiences of the people Voithós has shown us so far has only had disastrous ends so why is it that I’m still asking about this even against my better judgement instead of asking him to just take us home? I really hope I don’t regret this.

“I knew you’d be wise enough to take an opportunity when you see one.” Voithós said and I huffed. Who could have guessed that some spirits could be so annoying?

“As I said before, there is a way for you to get what you want without making a wish, you can just get the ability to speak through a miracle but you’ll receive it in the form of a gift because you’ll have to earn it.” Voithós said, throwing me into more confusion. I narrowed my eyes and bit on my bottom l*p softly, is this really worth it?

I miss having Tara here with me. I’ve gotten so used to having her give me advice that I can’t seem to tell right from wrong without her butting in with her annoyingly adorable advice.

“Please be more specific and stop wasting time. I have a daughter to take care of.” I blurted.

“You don’t seem to realize so I’ll tell you. No time passes in the world while we’re here. While we’re exploring the past, time in the present has stopped so you have nothing to worry about. Concerning your second option; the goddess has the power to grant blessings, wishes and miracles.

The blessings are unsolicited favours which she bestows on her children, the wish is a request which you can only make when you replace the book but it comes with consequence either good or bad, depending on your wish and lastly, a miracle is a request which she grants as a reward for your good deeds, that is you have to earn it and then your miracle will be granted as a gift.” Voithós explained and I thought over it.

If there was another way for me to permanently get a voice without making a wish, why didn’t he tell me earlier? Why did he have to put Kayden and I through that psychological torture, Kayden especially.

He has just found out that he was the reason why his mother passed away and since then, he hasn’t even said a word. I wonder how he’s holding up. He really is strong. If I had to replace out such a thing, I would have completely broken down and even lost the zeal to live but come to think of it, I’ve never really been courageous. Maybe it’s because I’m used to being suppressed.

“Why? Why did you show us those visions if there was simply another way to get what I want? Why did you have to put Kayden through so much?” I questioned, unable to hold back.

“The answer is simple, clarity. He needed to know, Selene said that it’s time for him to know the truth and all that’s been hidden from him. This knowledge will come to good use soon, don’t you worry. This is only an iota compared to what he is to face before he becomes strong enough and worthy enough for the position that Selene has prepared for him.” Voithós said in his usual monotone voice but his words carried so much suspense that they left me with so many questions.

“What are you talking about?” Kayden questioned dryly. This is the first time he’s spoken after seeing the last vision, he seems to have finally gotten a grip on himself despite replaceing out the truth and I don’t know if to be happy or worried about him because though his expression is lachrymose, I can see a certain fire burning in his eyes. I can’t describe it but it fills me with chills. I wish I could tell what he’s thinking right now.

“Everything is in your future so I cannot tell you anything more than I already have but if you must know, the both of you are going to unite the four realms. The both of you are going to be the greatest wolves in history and your names will be written in gold letters in every history book. More cannot be said about that matter, so in light of this, are you willing to earn your miracle?” Voithós questioned and I looked to Kayden for succor and he nodded his approval.

“We’ve already come this far so it’ll be better if we just go through with it to the end. There’s no harm trying as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody. I know how you’ve always wanted to be able to speak, I know how much pain you’ve had to endure just for being mute and I know how much you must enjoy having the ability to speak right now and so, I won’t let it be taken away from you.

I’m willing to do anything as long as you get the gift you deserve, the most beautiful voice of all. I love you and I’ll always support you” Kayden said, making my heart flutter and I smiled.

I’m just too lucky to have someone like him. Why does he love me so much? What did I do to deserve so much affection? So this is how it feels to be loved by someone, the feeling is the most amazing in the world and it’s almost too good to be true. These thoughts make me teary but I hold back the tears. This is no time for crying.

“How do I earn my gift?” I asked Voithós, trying my best to maintain composure.

“You’ll have to see for yourself in order to understand. I’ll explain everything when we get there. But first, do you accept this task?” Voithós questioned and I played with my fingers, not knowing what answer to give.

This might be my only chance to be able to speak. Do I really want to give it up because of a little fear? Goddess Selene wouldn’t give me a task that would harm me or Kayden, would she?

Kayden has already given me his support so the least I can do is at least give it a try.

“Yes, I accept the task.” I said and I wasn’t given the chance to say more before we disappeared once again.

We appeared in a completely different location. Looking around, I had not a single clue where we were. It was like a town. Houses filled the place and there was barely any vegetation.

Up ahead, miles away was a mighty castle and the Kizmet palace was a cottage compared to this one.

“Where are we, what’s going on?” Kayden asked the question that was on my mind.

“We’re in the kingdom of Luceras.” Voithós said.

And I could have sworn, I heard that name before but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t figure it out until Kayden spoke.

“Luceras, we’re in Vampire territory, aren’t we?” He questioned, his expression unreadable.

“And correct you are.” Voithós certified.

I finally remembered it. The kingdom of Luceras is deeply feared because it is the revered abode of the vampires. I’d been taught about it in school and we barely spoke about it in school because according to the legends, vampires had fifty times better hearing than us, they could even hear our thoughts if they listened closely and even our heartbeats as well. So we were kind of scared of them. The kingdom of Luceras is very far away from our world because Vampires and Werewolves weren’t exactly the best of friends, we’d been feuding for centuries but the reason for it has never really been clear. I’d never thought I’d ever see a vampire all my life but here I am, in the kingdom of Luceras.

This is both scary and ironic. I wonder what kind of plan Voithós has for us. I knew deep down that whatever task I was going to face wouldn’t be easy but I’d never guessed it would involve vampires or else, I would have disagreed right away.

Voithós must have known this and that’s why he refused to say it so he tricked us. I won’t let this continue any longer. I don’t want the goddess’s gift anymore, I just want to go home and plan for my mating ceremony.

“Stop, I don’t want to do this anymore. Take us back.” I said to Voithós, annoyed.

“I’m sorry but that’s not possible.” Voithós replied casually.
