Rejected By My Mate, Chosen By Fate -
Chapter 96
A loud scream was heard from across the room and a female Vampire was seen shaking her body frantically and fiddling with her dress. This caused an uproar in the room and everyone’s attention was instantly directed at her, even mine but when my eyes fell on Kayden who wasn’t too far from the lady who was panicking for some reason, I quickly understood that this must have been his doing.
I guess he must have seen my problem and so he created a distraction so I would be able to carry out my task successfully. I can’t help but wonder what he had done to the lady but I don’t even think about it. I quickly turn away and bring out the vial I had successfully hidden in my bra. I opened it quickly and quietly poured the whole liquid into the King’s wine which was sitting on a platter beside his throne. I kept the vial back in my dress. I then pick my glass back up and quietly move away from the King so as not to incur any suspicion.
People were still trying to replace out what was wrong with the lady but she kept claiming that something was moving in her dress. A male Vampire who I believe to be her husband quickly apologized to the King and everyone for his wife’s behavior and quickly dragged her out of the party.
The party resumed and everyone tried to pretend like what just happened had never happened.
King Cassius finally cleared his throat and made the toast. Everyone instantly drank from their glasses after the toast but I didn’t drink, only pretended to sip from my drink. Only a foolish person would spike someone’s drink at a party and then have a drink at the very same party.
I’m completely delighted when I not only see King Cassius drinking his wine but I also spot Lucia in the other side of the room with Kayden and she’s drinking hers as well.
Yes!
I can’t believe we did it. We really did it. We were actually able to pull this off, it almost seems like a dream. I’m so overcome with happiness but the next moment, it all just feels so surreal and this particular fear that I’m only dreaming pops up. What if all this isn’t real, what if I’m only dreaming?
The fear quickly takes over me and I pinch myself hard to ascertain if this is indeed real life or if it’s just a dream but when I replace myself still standing in the party with people chatting and drinking, I heave a sigh of relief and almost feel like I’m floating in a cloud.
The next minute, doubt sets in. What if I didn’t make the potion right? What if it doesn’t work? They both seem to have drank it so why hasn’t it taken effect yet? I wish Tara was here to talk some sense into me, I swear I’m seriously freaking out on my own. I don’t even know how to handle this situation that’s supposed to be known as victory. I’m just scared to fail after everything.
I keep a close eye on King Cassius, he finishes his drink but nothing seems to happen. I’m instantly disheartened, this only means that the potion didn’t work. I can’t believe that I end up failing after everything, I can’t……. I can’t handle this.
I stagger a bit and someone catches me. “Careful kitten, if I knew you could get drunk so easily then I wouldn’t have let you drink anything. Come on, I’ll take you to your room. You’ve had enough partying for one day.” Prince Virgil scolds and helps me stand up straight. It’s all over now, everything is ruined, or so I thought.
But as quickly as the wind, things take an interesting turn. King Cassius quickly stands up from his throne and walks into the crowd, the hall instantly goes silent and everyone’s wondering what he’s up to.
He arrives at where Lucia is standing and he shocks everyone, me included by kissing her.
She drops her glass, not even caring that it would shatter and she k****s him back just as hard, leaning into him. This could only mean one thing, the real conclusion this time is that it did work. The potion actually worked and now they’re madly in love with each other.
They French k**s for a few minutes, not caring that almost a thousand other people were in the room but they finally break apart, breathless.
The way they look at each other passionately makes it too obvious that they’re in love with each other. Somewhere deep within me, this feels wrong. Forcing them into falling in love with each other by the use of magic is very wrong, I know but it’s the only possible way. I’m sure that as they live together, they really will fall in love with each other. Another reason why I went with this potion plan is because, the book says that though the potion may induce love between two people, it also gives the chance for them to genuinely fall in love with each other and when the both of them do, the potion will fade so they can love each other purely. So the potion is more like a catalyst, it’s mostly for unrequited love though. It starts the spark of feelings between two people and as they get to know each other and spend time together, they genuinely fall in love over time. It’s like a matchmaker of its own and I consider myself fortunate to have found such a thing in existence.
“King Cassius, what is going on here?” The Alpha of the Silver Moon pack finally asked the question that was on everybody’s mind.
King Cassius says nothing and just walks up to his throne hand in hand with Lucia.
“I apologise to you, Alpha Conrad for my impulsive action a moment ago but it couldn’t be helped. I’m still joyful about our alliance but I’m more excited that you are here to witness such a happy day for me.” King Cassius replied and everyone instantly began to whisper.
The King cleared his throat and the place went quiet again.
“It is with a joyful heart that I announce that I’ve finally found my queen and better half.” He announced, leaving everyone shocked again but I wasn’t.
They both whispered something to each other before he continued. “Please give a loud ovation to your soon to be Queen, Lucia.” He announced and everyone clapped and cheered, I included. I genuinely feel happy for them. King Cassius has his own darkness but I’m sure Lucia, I mean Queen Lucia will be able to defeat that darkness soon with the light of love.
“Our marriage will take place in three days and everyone in and out of the Kingdom is invited.” He announced and the applause and cheers doubled. Prince Virgil instantly walked up to the throne to hug his brother and soon to be sister in law.
I smiled, extremely satisfied. I had actually done it. Someone placed a hand on my shoulder and I turned back to see that it was Kayden.
“You’ve done it Evelyn.” He praised me with a smile and I smiled back. “No, WE’VE done it, together.” I said with my biggest smile, this is just so heartwarming.
All of a sudden, it all happens again a surreal feeling envelopes me as I feel a surging power take over me. I look over to Kayden and I see that he’s experiencing the same. A white light shines around us and the feeling is indescribable, we both hold hands and hold our breaths, preparing for whatever is about to happen.
All of a sudden, just like magic, we replace ourselves in the Kizmet Pack’s palace library with the goddess’s book right in front of us.
I sigh in relief, it’s finally over. We’re finally back home.
