A hand suddenly grabs my arm and pulls me into a corner. I’m about to scream but a hand covers my mouth.

“Shush. It’s just me.” I hear Kayden’s voice and I finally relax. He lets go of me and I hit him playfully. You could have at least said something, what if I had screamed my head off? Then we both would have been in trouble.” I reprimanded him.

“I’m sorry, I just thought we needed a little action.” He said and I rolled my eyes. “Do you have what I asked for?” I questioned. “Yes. But why do you need Lucia’s hair?” he asked as he brought out a few strands of hair from his pocket.

“Great. We can’t talk here, someone might see us. Come with me.” I said and directed him towards my room. Thankfully, everyone is in the Great Hall so no one sees me taking a strange man into my room. LOL.

As soon as we’re in the room, I lock the door and quickly walk to my wardrobe. I open it up and also open up the secret compartment where I had left the potion.

It’s still lying there safely and I heave a huge sigh of relief. I take it out and open it up.

“What’s that? And why did you ask me to get Lucia’s hair?” He reiterated. “There’s really no time for much explanation. If I waste too much time here, Prince Virgil will surely come looking for me and that would be disastrous. What I can tell you is, I’ve finally found a way to finish my mission and get us out of here. The task was to make King Cassius and Lucia fall in love with each other and I’ve found a way to do that.

This right here is the solution.” I said and stretched out the vial for Kayden to see. “I still don’t get it, what can this small red liquid do?” He asked and I smiled contentedly.

“This small red liquid can actually do a lot. It’s an ancient love potion and it’s very potent. One sip of this and those two will love each other like crazy” I said with a wide smile.

“That’s great but isn’t that like cheating?” He questioned. “I don’t think it is, Voithós only said to make them fall in love with each other no matter what, there were never any rules to begin with so I won’t start putting restrictions on the mission. Making them fall in love the old fashioned way is literally impossible because they hate each other and they’ll need to spend time with each other in order for them to fall in love and I certainly know that if they come face to face with each other alone, the only thing they’ll do is try to kill each other so why waste time when there’s an easier way out of this? All I really want is to get out of here and return to my beloved family, don’t you want the same?” I asked him.

“Of course I want to get out of here and I honestly don’t care how we do it, I was just asking because I want to make sure that this actually works and our efforts will not be in vain.” He said and I kissed his cheek.

“You don’t have to worry about anything. Goddess Selene is with us, everything will happen as it should and we’ll be back home before you even know it.” I assured him and he pecked me on the lips.

“You’re the best.” He praised me and I smiled. “But we’ll have to do this quickly though. Lucia only came to the ball so she could have a chance to get close enough to the King to kill him. I only agreed to it because I wanted to come along with her. We have to do this before she makes a move and it becomes too late.” Kayden alerted me and I quickly wiped the smile off my face. This is serious, we must act now.

“Give me the hair.” I requested and Kayden handed the few strands of Lucia’s hair. I put it in the potion and it dissolved instantly, turning to a deeper shade of red. Good. Now all that’s left is to make them drink this without us getting caught. The safest way to do this is for us to slip it into their drinks.

Putting the potion in Lucia’s drink will be a piece of cake but then again, spiking the King’s drink will be the real problem. I’ll just have to replace a way. I’ve done more dangerous things in the past, I always replace a way and this time will be no different.

I bring out an extra vial and divide the potion equally into both vials. I then hand one to Kayden. “Put this in Lucia’s drink and make sure she drinks all of it.” I told him and he nodded.

“I’ll replace a way to put the other half in the King’s drink. We’ve wasted too much time here, we must leave now before we arouse suspicion. I’ll leave first, wait at least ten minutes after I’m gone before you leave the room. Don’t forget to listen outside to know if someone’s coming, only leave the room when you’re sure that no one’s passing by.” I instructed. “Yes Miss Mastermind, I will do as you say.” He says sarcastically and I apologise. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sound bossy. I’m just stressed out right now. I don’t want a situation in which we fail after coming so close to victory.” I apologise and he raises my chin up.

“You don’t have to say sorry, I understand how you feel. Believe me, I’m just as nervous as you but we have to do away with our fear because we can’t afford to make a mistake. Everything has to be perfect.” He informed me and I nodded.

I walked towards the door and opened it up. “Good luck.” He whispered. “Good luck to you too.” I whispered back and left the room after making sure that no one was around.

I hid the vial in my dress and as soon as I got to the entrance of the great Hall, the first person I bumped into was Prince Virgil.

“What took you so long? You kept me waiting.” He scolded. “I’m sorry, I had to go to the bathroom in my room because I didn’t want to get lost and while in my room, I prepared a little something for our encounter tonight.” The words honestly just slipped out of my mouth but they at least did the trick.

His look of fear mixed with anger instantly disappeared. “Oh really? And here I thought I was the only one who liked to give surprises.” He said and grabbed my hand, bringing my body to press against his.

“Well, you’re definitely not the only one, my surprise is something you could never have guessed.” I said, playing along.

“I have to admit that I really love this bold side of you, it’s teasing and slightly arousing.” He says and traces his nose up my neck, deeply inhaling my scent.

“And you smell delightful. You’ve really improved, kitten. I’m trying to replace out what my surprise is but you’re cleverly not thinking about it so I won’t replace out what it is.” He says and gently bites my ear lobe and I whimper softly.

“I just love it when I make you react like this, your m***s and gasps are sweet songs that I’ll never get tired of hearing and tonight, I’ll make you sing sweet songs of pleasure for me All. Night. Long.” He says it so sensually and the fact that I know that he’s serious makes my body react. Damn it, why is it so easy for the body to betray you?

“Please stop, we’re at a party. People will see.” I replace myself whispering dryly. “Let them see, I want them to watch how I make your body submit with such simple gestures.” He whispered once more and I stiffened when I felt his hand on my exposed back, lightly teasing my skin with his fingers and playing with the strings of my dress. Gosh, this is torture.

Just then, Sir Carter calls everyone’s attention and Prince Virgil quickly stops with his sweet ministrations, finally.

Sir Carter then announces that everyone should grab a drink as the King is about to make a toast to the beginning of peace between Werewolves and Vampires. I know that it’s finally time to act.

Maids with trays filled with glasses of drinks quickly fill the room, going from person to person so everyone could grab a drink.

I quickly notice that King Cassius doesn’t take the drink that the maids are serving. He instead whispers something to Sir Carter who soon leaves and returns with a bottle of b***d wine. Of course, on such a lovely occasion he would prefer to have some b***d wine. It’s perfect really since the potion won’t be noticeable in the wine but still, I have to think of a way of pouring the potion in the wine even in the presence of so many people and without anyone spotting me. If I’m caught, they’ll think I’m trying to poison the King. It’s just too risky and the thought of the outcome of things if I’m caught makes my stomach turn. I just have to do it anyway, it’s not like I have a choice.

A maid comes to me and I also grab a drink. I slowly and systematically walk towards the King’s throne and pretend like I’m just walking around.

I see the King bring out a golden goblet and Sir Carter pours him some b***d wine. He’s just about to make the toast and if I don’t put the potion now, I’ll never get the chance but there’s so many people surrounding the king. I can’t just walk up to him and grab his drink. My brain is just screaming for me to give up because this is impossible but my heart keeps telling me that I can do this. I’ve come too far to just give up. My head is buzzing with a headache and my heart is beating erratically. If only something could happen or if only I could create some kind of distraction then maybe, just maybe this would actually be possible.

King Cassius cleared his throat and was just about to stand up to make his toast and I had already accepted my fate and given up but all of a sudden, something happened.
