Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 152

Ivy burst out laughing. "Sofia, Katie, did you hear? Your lies have been exposed!

"Katie, your husband spilled the beans. What do you have to say now? Anyway, what was the point of lying so blatantly during a class reunion? Do you think we're all idiots?

"You aren't the chairman of any company, you didn't take on Rivers Bank, and you didn't book this resort... In hindsight, it was pretty obvious that it was all a lie. Your claims were simply too ridiculous!"

Ivy was overjoyed; she had been waiting for this moment for years. While they were in school, Katie was always better than her. Finally, she could take her revenge.

Katie's expression was unsightly.

Sofia nudged Adam. "Are you still not going to do anything?"

Adam looked at her helplessly and turned to Ivy. "Ivy, right? I heard that your company was trying to sponsor that mixed martial arts tournament, is that correct?"

Sofia had told him that the day before yesterday when they were at the railway station.

Ivy sneered and asked, "Yes, what about it?"

Adam replied coldly, "I'm afraid you won't be able to sponsor them because Katie's Hartley Group is already sponsoring the Ultimate Fighting Championship."

Ivy was at first surprised but then laughed and said, "You act as if you are the one who is holding the tournament!"

Adam nodded. "That's exactly how it is."

Ivy laughed again. "You and Katie are a match made in heaven. You both know how to brag! But of course, we'll see no evidence this time around either. Anyway, bragging isn't against the law, so you can do whatever you want. I don't care." Then, she shook her head and said to Katie, "Katie, I was a fool to consider you my rival in the past. You've been such a disappointment today, and it's clear that we're no longer in the same league. I guess our rivalry comes to an end now." Katie forced a smile and did not reply.

Sofia could not take it lying down and retorted, "Bah, how can you even compare to Katie? You aren't in the same league because Katie is much better than you!"

Ivy sneered, "No matter what you say, no one will believe you unless you can bring some proof to back up your claims."

Sofia turned and cried out, "Adam!"

Adam smiled and asked, "Do you want proof? Fine. Who did you look for when trying to sponsor the Ultimate Fighting Championship?"

"Someone with the surname Andrews," replied Ivy.

Adam no longer spoke and called Fannie Andrews. He then said in front of everyone, "Fannie, did a woman from a company that deals in weddings come to you to sponsor the tournament? Her name should be Ivy. Call her and tell her that you aren't interested in the offer and that she should no longer bother you."

Then, he hung up the call.

Less than a minute later, Ivy's phone rang.

The expressions of the people in the room changed. They all turned to look at Ivy in unison.

"Heh, I don't think you..." Ivy's smile stiffened and her voice trailed off mid-sentence when she looked at the screen of her phone.

She picked up the call with trembling fingers, and before she could speak, an icy voice echoed from the other end.

The people in the room could not hear their conversation, but they could easily tell what was going on just by glancing at Ivy's pale face. They all looked at Adam in shock.

Was it really him who made all those waves?

Was everything that Sofia said earlier true?

Yet, he looks like a stay-at-home husband!

Countless thoughts flashed through their minds.

At this moment, Adam turned to look at Ted and said, "Didn't you want to say something just now?"

Ted recovered from his shock, gritted his teeth, and mustered his Dutch courage to say, "I don't think you and Katie are suited for each other. I feel like she would be happier with me. My annual salary is now over one million dollars, and I have a lot of connections in the world of business, which I can use to help Katie.

"You might be the host of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but when it comes to doing business, you can't help Katie much. That's why I want you two to divorce!"

Adam's eyebrows twitched. He shook his head and said, "It's good that you were able to confess your feelings, but Katie is her own person. Only she can decide who she wants to stay with."

Ted turned to look at Katie.

Katie frowned and said, "Ted, you drank a little too much. I'm happily married, and we even have a daughter."

"No, you aren't happy!" Ted refused to back down and continued, "Katie, I've liked you ever since we were in college, and I've never forgotten you. Give me an opportunity and give an opportunity to yourself as well.

"I have money and influence... I can definitely make you-"

Katie interrupted him, "Please, stop. I don't have feelings for you."

Ted still was still not ready to give up. "I know, but I'm confident that you'll fall in love with me in time. After all, I'm way better than-"

Before he could finish, someone knocked on the door.

Nelly Brooks entered the room and said respectfully, "Mr. Drake, Rivers Bank's manager came to me to apologize for what he did. When I told him that you were here, he asked if he could greet you and offer you a toast. Are you interested?" The people in the room were shellshocked.

Did I mishear?

Rivers Bank's manager came here to offer an apology?

And he wants to apologize to Katie's husband in person?

What's going on?

Was it really this guy who almost bankrupted Rivers Bank?

Several thoughts flashed through their minds as they looked at Adam.

"Why is he here? I don't want to meet him," Adam said with a frown.

"All right," said Nelly before turning around to leave.

The people in the room were stunned once more. They looked at Adam in disbelief.

The manager of an important bank wanted to offer him a toast, but he simply refused?

Just what...

Then, as if they had recalled something, the various classmates glanced at Ted with pity in their eyes.

Ted stood rooted to the spot, his shock evident on his face. After a few moments, he could not help but ask, "Is... Is this real? Did you really corner Rivers Bank by yourself? "No, that can't be real! I refuse to believe it!

"Where is the bank manager? I want to see him in person!" Ted rushed out of the room like a man possessed.

His classmates hesitated for a moment before following after him.

As they got out of the room, they saw a man standing in the corridor with a glass of wine in his hand. He was begging Nelly Brooks.

"Mr. Brooks, you have to help me! Please, allow me to meet Mr. Drake."

"It's not that I don't want to help you, but Mr. Drake doesn't have the time to see you right now," Nelly said helplessly.

"In that case, I'll wait here." Gavin Sanders stood where he was and did not move, just like a student that had been punished by the class teacher.

Ted's face paled, and he took two steps backward instinctively. If not for the wall behind him, he would have fallen to the ground.

Everything that Sofia had said turned out to be true. She was not lying or helping Katie keep up appearances, she was just telling the truth!
