Return Of The Real Heiress: Secrets And Masks -
My Billionaire Family 486
Chapter 486
As Hank finished speaking, a woman in her fifties accompanied by five kids aged between 3 and 12 came out from inside.
Among these children, two clearly didn't appear quite typical, resembling kids with Down syndrome. The other three looked just like typical kids.
They were all unfortunate children, abandoned by their birth parents right after they were born.
Some were due to financial hardships, others because of a preference for boys, and some parents discovered their child's deficiencies and deliberately abandoned them, but none of these were valid reasons to abandon their children. Fortunately, the orphanage director, Maeve, was a deeply compassionate person. She had dedicated her entire life, without children or family, to the Charity Orphanage and these orphans with the little subsidy she received. Seeing Hank bring back so many things, Maeve lovingly scolded him, "Why do you keep wasting money on these things? You need money for your studies and research, and you should keep it for yourself. We're all eating well enough." Hank smiled brightly and said, "Maeve, don't worry, just enjoy the food. I'm really good at making money, always getting scholarships, so my wallet's pretty full. No worries.
"Plus, the little ones are growing, so drinking milk is good for their bones.
"I'm planning to enter more competitions to win big prizes, and then our orphanage won't seem so shabby. At least, it'll be a bit safer for us to live in."
Maeve just shook her head, still smiling kindly. "You're such a good boy... By the way, how was your first day at Betrico University? It's the top university in Clusia. Are your classmates and teachers easy to get along with?" Just as Maeve finished talking, a skinny girl with thick glasses came over and tugged at Hank's sleeve. "Hank, did you meet Ms. Leach today? Is she as pretty as she looks in the pictures?" She pointed at the picture on the wall.
The picture was printed by Maeve from the internet the last time Cherise led the Betrico University Traditional Medicine Department in a competition against the Regalwood University team. She told everyone to learn from Cherise's example. All the orphans in the orphanage knew who Cherise was. They all believed she was the most amazing person in the world. Hank looked at the picture on the wall, thought seriously for a moment, then smiled at the little girl. "Clara, I met her. She's really nice, and in person, she's way more beautiful than in the pictures.
"Take care of yourself, and I'll try to bring her here for you to see in a few days, alright?"
This girl named Clara was diagnosed with a severe congenital insulin deficiency when her parents abandoned her. She could easily develop ketoacidosis without treatment, which might result in serious complications. Since being sent to Charity Orphanage, she had had to actively monitor her blood sugar levels and inject artificial insulin daily.
The main reason Hank initially got into studying traditional medicine was largely because of this girl named Clara. However, at his current level, he found it really difficult to cure such a chronic illness.
Therefore, Hank's agreeing to attend classes at Betrico University with that three big men was somewhat related to Clara as well.
Clara was thrilled to hear Hank say this, clapping her thin little hands. "Great, I can finally meet Ms. Leach!"
Seeing everyone so happy, Maeve's smile widened. She glanced at the time. "Alright, kids, let's not disturb Hank. He has class 12:57 Fri, Jan 3 G

at Betrico University tomorrow."
After hearing Maeve's words, the children waved goodbye to Hank and left with her.

Unlike the other orphans, Hank had his own room in the orphanage, which, though small, offered him some privacy.
Hank pushed open the door to his room. Apart from a bed, there was hardly any space to stand.
The rest of the room was packed with a few bulky computers, two human skeleton models over 3 feet tall, an acupuncture model, and some homemade-looking robots.
Hank slowly sat down at his desk. On the right side of the desk, there was a somewhat broken mirror. He reached out, picked it up, and placed it in front of him.
Then, with both hands, he took off the large, black-framed glasses that were perched on his nose.
He casually brushed his bangs back, revealing a forehead as smooth as the skin on his face.
Taking off his glasses revealed his unusually handsome features for his age, making him look less youthful and adding a bit of maturity. He looked like a striking character straight out of a comic book. After removing his glasses, he turned on one of the multiple bulky computers in the room.
Just like the computers Cherise and Morris had, it started up incredibly fast.
Once the computer was fully up and running, Hank used the mouse to open a program.
The program opened to a screen that looked like a surveillance feed, with dozens of small windows tiled across the display.
Hank glanced at the screen, accurately selecting and double-clicking one of the images, which then enlarged on the monitor.
Sure enough, when Hank zoomed in on the image, it showed today's surveillance footage from Betrico University. Moreover, it was the footage of Morris leaning against the car, waiting for Cherise. Hank continued to fast-forward the video until it reached the part where Morris paused, looked toward the school building before getting into the driver's seat, and paused the frame.
He stared at the image repeatedly, a youthful smile appearing on his face. "Mr. Chivers truly lives up to his reputation, such alertness! Good thing I dodged quickly enough." SEND GIFT
