Salute To The General
Chapter 1658

Chapter 1658

For the next two days, Nathan continued going to the Royal Palace to visit his sick mentor.

However, he still did not manage to see his mentor, who was really ill. It was always Aunt Camillawho welcomed him when he visited.

As news about Nathan's second attack had been hushed up, only the higher-ranking officials of thecabinet and a handful of others knew about it.

Over the past two days, Timothy tapped on his investigative skills and tried his utmost best todiscover the truth.

Weston had also been captured by the Secret Service.

With Timothy personally leading the team, they took turns interrogating him for two consecutivedays and nights.

After two sleepless nights, anyone else would have already broken down and admitted toeverything.

However, Weston came from a military background and was the boss of an international securitycompany. Furthermore, his educational qualifications, mental acuity, and physical strength were top-notch.

Even though he was exhausted after two sleepless nights, he still forced himself to hold on. Not asingle confession could be extracted from him.

Time ticked by and it was already the third night.

Timothy was still in the interrogation room at 1 a.m. Although he looked extremely haggard, he stillstared at Weston, who was handcuffed at the interrogation desk, sternly and intently. He coldly

demanded, “Weston, you liaised with the Dark Lord's mercenaries, right? Who gave you thoseinstructions? Who ordered you to help the Dark Lord's mercenaries infiltrate Brimmopolis?”

By then, Weston was already on the brink of losing consciousness. He forced a weak smile on hisface and replied weakly, “No one liaised with me. My company focuses on international security. When foreigners come here, they seek us out for consultations and relevant information. What's thematter? Did the Dark Lord's men stir up any trouble?”

After a slight pause, he scoffed, “Hah! Even so, it has nothing to do with me. Mr. Carter, you can'tpossibly accuse me just because I met the Dark Lord's men once, right? We're both Mr. Tucker'sdisciples. Isnt it inappropriate of you to treat a fellow disciple of his like this?”

At the mention of Mr. Tucker, Timothy's expression changed.

As he was being pressured by the General, he had no choice but to do this in order to save himself.Otherwise, he would never willingly investigate someone related to Mr. Tucker.

Furthermore, he was afraid that the investigation might indicate that Mr. Tucker had something to dowith this. In that case, he would not know what to do.

Timothy's thoughts were messed up.

Judging from Weston's attitude, it looked like he was still far away from a mental breakdown. Hewould not succumb anytime soon.

Hence, he coldly said, “You are refusing to speak, right? It's okay. I can interrogate you until you'rewilling to confess.”

With that, he instructed his subordinates in the interrogation room to take turns interrogatingWeston, not giving him any time to rest or sleep.

Then, he walked out of the room alone.

His phone rang at that moment, displaying a call from Mr. Tucker.

A strange expression crossed Timothy's face. After a slight hesitation, he answered the call andgreeted respectfully, “Mr. Tucker. You haven't slept yet?”

Boris replied with a smile, “I just finished some work, and am about to sleep. Suddenly, I heard mywife mention that Weston was captured for no reason. His family is extremely worried. As they can'tget any information at all, they visited me to ask about it. He's my disciple like you, so I'm callingyou to see what's the situation.”

Timothy replied, “Mr. Tucker, we found out that Weston has been liaising with the Dark Lord's men.As we suspect that he has something to do with the two attacks on the General, we invited him foran interrogation.”

Boris grunted an acknowledgment before asking, “So, have you found out anything from theinterrogation?”

Timothy muttered, “No.”

Raising his volume, Boris demanded, “What the heck are you doing? You've already locked him upfor two days, but still haven't found out anything?”

Timothy was at a loss for words.

Boris continued coldly, “Let me ask you again. Have you found any evidence showing that Westonhas something to do with the two

attacks against the General?”

With sweat dotting his forehead, he replied, “Not yet.”

Unhappy, Boris said, “You've been interrogating him for so long and don't even have any evidence. Why aren't you releasing him yet? Let him go right now!”

Timothy gritted his teeth. “Mr. Tucker, give me another night to interrogate him. If I still can't provethat Weston played a role in the two attacks against the General, I'll release him immediately andgive him an apology.”

He was met with a long silence on the other end of the line.

It seemed that Boris was extremely unhappy with his refusal to release Weston instantly.

After a while, he replied unwillingly, “Fine!”

With that, he hung up the call.

Timothy gripped his phone tightly and fell into a daze.

He could not be certain whether Mr. Tucker requested him to release Weston because he wasbeing protective of his disciple, or because he had something to do with the attacks.

This internal dilemma almost tore Timothy apart.

He shoved his hand into his pocket, wanting to take out some cigarettes. However, he realized thathe had already run out of them.

Hence, he walked out alone and headed to the store nearby to buy a pack of cigarettes.

The streets at midnight were completely empty,

except for a slight drizzle.

Braving the rain, Timothy jogged towards the nearby convenience store.

Suddenly, he saw a man wearing a black raincoat and riding a bicycle amidst the rain. He waszooming towards him.

Timothy subconsciously glanced at the man.

Coincidentally, the wheels of the bicycle skidded on the wet asphalt, causing it to tilt sidewaysdangerously. It seemed like he was going to crash onto the road in front of Timothy.

If he fell down on this rainy day, he would definitely be severely injured.

In the nick of time, Timothy blurted, “Be careful!”

Not caring about getting drenched, he quickly clashed forward and stretched out his arms to catchthis young man who was about to fall from the bicycle.

He managed to grab the man in time and steady him. Smiling, he was about to ask if he was finebefore he suddenly felt excruciating pain in his chest.

When he lowered his head, he realized that there was a dagger pierced right into his heart.

“You...”

Timothy raised his head in disbelief, not expecting the man to have stabbed him.

The man in the raincoat grinned at Timothy sadistically before withdrawing the dagger.

Peddling quickly on his bicycle, he soon disappeared, leaving Timothy sprawled across the roadpathetically.
