Salute To The General -
Chapter 1817
Chapter 1817
As soon as she finished speaking, everyone in the room turned to look at each other in shock. Someone even let out a whistle of surprise.
So the Mr. Goldstein in question was Clifford Davier's son!
Recently, Mr. Davier and Mr. Lucas had been engaged in a bitter fight over the presidential elections.
However, many people knew that Mr. Davier was a more capable candidate, and there was a good chance that he was going to win the elections and become the next president.
Besides, Mr. Davier occupied the position of Secretary in the Great Cab, making him senior in rank to Mr. Lucas.
Within their wealthy, privileged circle of friends, Leasers status was no lower than Corey's either-in fact, some people might even say that he was of a more prestigious status.
Usually, Corey knew better than to stir up trouble for Leaser Goldstein.
However, tonight was different.
Corey had booked Barbara for the night. In fact, he had done so way in advance.
However, Leaser had snatched her away without so much as giving him a heads up.
This was a huge form of disrespect to Corey!
Besides, Nathan and the rest of his friends were present right now. If he gave in to Leaser's arrogant demands tonight, he would never be able to walk with his head held high before them
again.
Besides, his father and Leasers father were battling it out over the presidential elections.
If he lost to Leaser tonight, everyone would think that the Lucas family was weaker than the Davier family. He couldn't let that happen.
Hence, no matter the cost, he had to settle this matter with Leaser tonight. Not only that he had to win this fight as well!
With a steely glint in his eyes, Corey turned to Louisa and snapped, "I don't care who that jerk is. Go downstairs right now and tell Barbara to come up to my room. And I mean now."
Louisa had no choice but to obey his instructions and make her way down to Leaser's private room.
However, barely a few seconds later, she emerged from the room again with a huge red mark in the shape of a palm on her face.
On the verge of tears, Louisa moaned, "Young Mr. Lucas, I passed on your message to Mr. Goldstein. Before Barbara could even stand up, however, he struck me across the face!"
"He told me to get lost, and even said..."
Corey looked both stunned and furious. "What else did he say?"
"I dare not repeat what he said..." Louisa whispered timidly.
Corey was infuriated. "Speak!" he ordered.
Louisa had no choice but to say, "Mr. Goldstein called you a jackass for daring to fight over a woman with him. He also says that if you want to get your hands on Barbara, you'd better go downstairs and talk to him yourself."
Corey's turned scarlet with rage. He roared, "How preposterous of him! Everyone, come downstairs with me right now. Since he wants to meet me so much, I'll satisfy his desire."
With that, he led his cronies down the stairs, startling the people they passed by with the frightening look on their faces.
Penny gaped in horror. She turned to Nathan and said in a small voice, “Oh dear. Are these wealthy gentlemen really going to get into a fight over some club hostess?"
Nathan smiled at her. "Things aren't as simple as they seem. A complicated relationship exists between both parties."
"It looks like the two of them are going to stir up a great deal of trouble tonight." "Come on, let's go down and have a look."
Ceaser's birthday party was being held in a private room on the first floor.
He lounged on the sofa, his arm draped around the beautiful woman next to him.
In fact, 'beautiful' wasn't a strong
enough word to describe the extent of her beauty. Like Helen of Troy, this woman had a face that could launch a thousand ships and cause the downfall of empires.
Unfortunately, her clothes and her makeup were rather inelegant and garish, which made her look a little old-fashioned and plain.
This woman was the pride of Sunshine Club, Barbara Cupid.
As he wrapped an arm around Barbara's waist, Leaser's lips curled into a rather sinister smile.
His eyes flickered towards the door from time to time.
Aside from Barbara, the room was crowded with numerous rich scions of Brimmopolis and lots of beautiful women. They swarmed around Leaser like a hive of bees.
A few meters away from them stood a tall, burly bodyguard. Attired in his uniform, his arms remained by his side while his sharp eyes roved around for any sign of disturbance.
At that moment, the door swung open with a loud crash. Corey and his friends stood in the doorway, bristling with anger.
Seeing Corey, Leaser burst into laughter. "Dear me, isn't this the famous Young Mr. Lucas? I see you've brought many of your friends. Have you come here to wish me happy birthday?"
Hearing this, Leaser s friends shot smiles of faint amusement at Corey.
Corey's face was purple with rage. "Leaser Goldstein," he said, seething, "don't think you can pull something like that on me. It won't work." "You know perfectly well why I'm here.”
With that, he turned to Barbara, who was shifting uncomfortably in her seat. Trying to control his rage, he said, "You, follow me upstairs now and accompany my friends and me while we drink."
Corey was a rather important figure within the circle of rich scions in Brimmopolis.
Barbara didn't dare to turn down his request.
Instinctively, she got up to leave with him.
However, before she could get up fully, Leaser looped his arm tightly around her waist and forced her back down onto the sofa.
Barbara felt rather helpless. It was just her luck to get caught in the middle of the two most powerful young men in Brimmopolis.
With his arm looped protectively
around Barbara's waist, Leaser looked up at Corey and smiled provokingly. "Corey Lucas, do you think you're a big shot just because I condescended to call you Young Mr. Lucas?"
"Can't you see that Barbara is accompanying me?"
"If you have any brains left in you, you'd better get lost right now. Otherwise, I might turn nasty."
Corey hollered, "Yeah, right! Because my friends were coming over, I contacted Sunshine Club ages ago to book Barbara for tonight! How dare you drag her over here at your own discretion!"
"Mark my words, Ceaser. I'll be leaving this room with Barbara tonight whether you like it or not."
Ceaser's hand crept up Barbara's
waist. As he caressed her gently he
swirled the red wine around in his wine glass and smiled menacingly. Raising an eyebrow, he asked, "And what if I reject your proposition?"
"Then I'll kill you with a bullet to your head!" With that, Corey pulled out a black revolver and pointed it straight at Ceaser's head.
Everyone in the room froze immediately.
