Salute To The General -
Chapter 1816
Chapter 1816
Adrian's face was white as a sheet. He seemed to have lost all of his gumption and swagger from before-even his voice shook a little as he addressed Nathan. “G-General...I admit my mistakes. I deserve to be killed for offending you like this, and I'll accept whatever punishment you deem appropriate for me. Please have mercy on I" me!
Adrian knew he had gotten himself into hot water, and could only receive his punishment as Nathan saw fit. Even if the General decided to kill or disembowel him today, he would have no choice but to go along with it.
Everyone was looking at Nathan, wondering how he was going to teach this errant loser a lesson.
Nathan remained seated on his chair with a look of perfect calm on his face. In a pleasant voice, he said, "There's something I'm very curious about. Since you don't know who I am, why did you come and stir up trouble for me?"
Sweat started to bead on Adrian's forehead. He stuttered and stammered, but couldn't string together a complete answer to Nathan's question. He couldn't tell Nathan his reason for doing so lest he got enraged again. However, Mr.
Goldstein downstairs was a formidable man, too.
If he exposed Mr. Goldstein, Nathan might let him off the hook, but Adrian would die at (leaser's hands instead.
Hence, he didn't dare to tell Nathan the truth about the situation.
At that moment, however, one of the Elite Eights stepped forward.
He went over to Nathan and whispered in his ear, telling him the real reason why Adrian had barged into the room to cause trouble for him. As he listened to the man, a look of realization dawned on Nathan's face.
Anger and amusement mingled on his face as he gazed at Adrian. This fool who hailed from the West had really gone all out in order to befriend Leaser, even resorting to taking revenge on Nathan on his behalf!
However, unlike the reckless Adrian, Nathan wasn't one to hold a grudge. In a cold voice, he said, "I see. So you came to stir up trouble for me only because you were bored and had nothing better to do?
"Since that seems to be the case, you will remain behind in Brimmopolis and do community work for a month. It's about time you start
contributing back to society.
"You'll only be able to leave Brimmopolis after performing community service a month-do you understand?"
Community service?
Adrian looked rather dazed. Did this mean he had to go and help out in old folks' homes or volunteer to direct the traffic on the roads?Worse still, he had to do it for a month!
This punishment was a sort of torture to him!
However, he didn't dare to protest. Nathan was already being kind enough to him by deciding to spare his life.
Hastily, he replied, "Yes, I'll do it. I'll do exactly as you say, Mr. Cross. I'll participate in volunteer work and reflect on my wrongdoings."
Nathan said stiffly, "I'll be sending people to check up on you, by the way. If you try to get out of this or refuse to treat this seriously, I' make sure to get you even if you try and flee back to the West!"
Adrian bowed his head and murmured, "No, sir, I wouldn't dare."
"Well, get lost then!" Nathan snapped.
Maverick rushed forward and helped Adrian out. Then, they turned and fled with the rest of the subordinates.
They were too embarrassed to return to Leaser. Instead, they simply left without bidding farewell to him.
Corey was immensely relieved that the brawl had ended.
With a smile on his face, he called for a few waiters and told them to clean up the room. Meanwhile, he returned to drinking with Nathan and his friends.
Corey called Louisa, manager of the club, into the room. In an unhappy voice, he grumbled, "Louisa, my friends and I have been here for ages. Why haven't you sent Barbara up to entertain us?"
Barbara Cupid?
She was the leading hostess of
Sunshine Club, and was regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the industry. Aside from her
ravishing looks, she had a natur
understanding of men's hearts, and was good at all sorts of artistic endeavors. Hundreds of wealthy men in Brimmopolis were enamored with her.
Quickly, Louisa explained, "Dear me, Young Mr.
Lucas, Barbara would simply love to come upstairs and join you and your friends. Unfortunately, she has company tonight..." Corey's face darkened immediately. "What do you mean by that? I'd like to know which customer is more important than I am." "Tell Barbara to come upstairs immediately, and inform her that those are my orders."
"Well..." Louisa looked extremely uncomfortable.
Corey flared up instantly. "Still hesitating, are you? Are my words enough, or do I need to make myself clearer?"
Louisa was so frightened that she
nearly knelt down on the ground. In a trembling voice, she said, "Young Mr. Lucas, I didn't mean to offend you. However, it's Mr. Goldstein's birthday tonight. Although you made reservations for
Barbara's company in advance, Mr. Goldstein insisted on having her there with him.....”
"Does this Mr. Goldstein wish to fight over a woman with me, now?" Corey roared. "Who's he, anyway?
In a small voice, Louisa said, "It's Ceaser Goldstein, the youngest son of Mr. Clifford Davier, and the scion of the Goldstein family."
