Salute To The General
Chapter 1823

Chapter 1823

The next day afternoon, Nathan visited the Lucas family with Penny.

Zion was dressed in a grey jacket and looking full of vigor. He stood at the door with his wife, Rayne, and son, Corey, as they awaited Nathan's arrival.

Zion was much more senior than Nathan according to qualifications and experiences.

In terms of rank, since Zion was one of the ten Great Cab Members, he was also above Nathan.

As such, it was rather surprising that he would be personally welcoming Nathan together with his family. That showed that Nathan was held in high regard by Zion.

Zion laughed heartily and said, "Haha! General, you and your missus have finally arrived."

Nathan quickened his footsteps and hurried over to greet Zion. The two men shook hands as Nathan said smilingly, "You shouldn't have come out personally, Mr. Lucas. I'm so flattered!"

Penny, who was next to Nathan, greeted Zion politely as well. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Lucas, Mrs. Lucas, and Young Mr. Lucas."

Zion smiled and replied, "I've heard of Mrs. Cross' reputation as the goddess of the business world because of your outstanding business acumen as well as your unrivaled beauty. After meeting you today, I have finally confirmed personally that you indeed live up to your name. The General and you are such a great match!"

A blush spread across Penny's cheeks when she heard that.

Nathan laughed and replied, "Mr. Lucas, stop teasing us."

Zion said cheerfully while extending his hand, “Come on inside, Mrs. Cross. My wife has specially made some of her best dishes, knowing that the General is coming to visit. We have to drink to our hearts' content today!"

"After you, Mr. Lucas!" Nathan said and the group proceeded to the living room.

After all of them were seated, tea was served by the servants.

Then, Rayne took Penny on a tour around the house.

After the two women left, Zion dismissed his servants in the living room, as well as the National Guards and his bodyguards.

Soon after, the only people left in the room were Nathan, Zion, and his son.

Nathan straight away knew that Zion had something to discuss with him.

Indeed, after Zion made a bit of small talk, he gradually shifted the topic to the presidential elections.

Zion spoke intentionally, "Nathan, I'm

a follower of President Windsor and you're his protege. Come to think of it, we're both on the same side. Since there are no outsiders here, I would like to hear your opinion on the upcoming presidential efections."

Nathan replied indifferently, "I'm stationed longterm at the North and don't pay much attention to what's going on at the Cab. I'm only

back to Brimmopolis in a hastet

for

the elections. I wanted to replace out from you, Mr. Lucas, who are the candidates for the presidential elections this time?"

Zion replied with a smile, "It's those who were frequently mentioned as possible candidates."

The man paused to take a puff of

cigarette and continued, "The secretary of our Cab, Clifford, is one of the most popular candidates and he's very ambitious too. Naturally, he's taking part in this election. There's also myself.

Initially, I haven't planned on

the elections, but President Windsor and some of the more senior government officials, as well as prominent members of various industries, kept urging me to take part. As such, I decided to have a go at it. If I really end up being elected, I'll definitely give my best for the nation and bring our nation to

greater heights."

Zion looked towards Nathan at this moment and saw Nathan nodding his head. Then he

continued, "Garrett is also in the run but he's just doing it for fun. As for the other candidates, they have not garnered much support as yet and they're probably just making up the numbers."

When Nathan heard that Garrett was also one of the candidates taking part in the presidential elections, a twinkle appeared in his eye.

Clifford was stubborn and always acting in a self-righteous manner. As for Zion, even though he had the required experience, he did not possess the boldness and courage needed to lead a nation.

As for Garrett, Nathan felt that he was one Cab member whose capabilities had been severely underestimated.

To Nathan, Garrett was the best candidate to be the next President. That man was a notch above both Clifford and Zion in terms of ambition and

abilities.

Nathan had even notified Zach, the commander-in-chief of the South, to also support Garrett.

However, those were all unknown to Zion, who was fervently hoping to gain Nathan's favor.

As such, as Zion instructed Corey to refill Nathan's tea, he asked Nathan smilingly, “So, General, may I know who you are intending to support for this upcoming presidential elections?"
