Salute To The General -
Chapter 1824
Chapter 1824
It wasn't easy for Nathan to answer that question as he was truly of the opinion that Zion, even though experienced, did not possess the requisite decisiveness and fearlessness to lead the nation to greater heights.
More so, it was because Nathan was sure that Zion would never be able to win Clifford.
Those were his true thoughts but there was no way he could voice them out.
Nathan took a sip of tea calmly and replied deliberately, "I will definitely not support Clifford."
When Zion and his son heard that, they couldn't help but beam merrily.
The majority of the people were certain that the next president would either be Zion or Clifford and the rest of the candidates were just there to make up the numbers.
The father-son pair had naturally assumed that Nathan would be supporting Zion since he had openly declared that he was not on Clifford's side. With a strong and powerful supporter like Nathan, Zion could hardly hide his joy as he said, "It's about time to start dinner. General, let's head over to the dining area. We should have a few drinks together tonight."
That night, Nathan and Penny had dinner with the Lucas family and took their leave after that.
The moment Nathan and Penny reached the Red Hotel, Colin walked up to them and whispered to Nathan, "General, someone is here to invite you to dinner. He has waited for you for a long
while."
Someone wants to treat me to dinner again?
Nathan realized that he seemed to have attended all sorts of meal gatherings after returning to Brimmopolis and still had more awaiting him!
He frowned slightly and asked, "Who is it? Did you tell him that I was over at Zion's place for dinner?"
Colin replied softly, "That man said that he was from the military and drove a military vehicle as well. However, he wasn't willing to tell me who sent him here to see you, General. I also did tell them that you were having dinner with Mr.
Lucas, but they insisted on staying and waiting for you. They're waiting at the car park outside right now. There, they're right there."
Nathan and Penny followed the direction which Colin pointed to and gazed outside the French windows. Indeed, they saw a military vehicle parked outside.
There were also a few uniformed National Guards who were waiting eagerly.
The crease between Nathan's brows deepened as he said, "Who on Earth is it who wants to buy me dinner. Is it really necessary to be so mysterious?"
Colin couldn't help but asked softly, "General, could it be Mr. Davier who's pretending to be mysterious while trying to lure you over to avenge his son?"
Nathan shook his head and replied,
"Clifford is currently busy with his preparations for the presidential elections. According to his character, he wouldn't choose to deal with me at this time."
"So how should we handle those guys outside?" Colin asked.
Nathan answered, “Ask the person in charge to come over.
Very soon, a tall-built man in National Guard uniform walked over with Colin.
When that National Guard saw Nathan, he saluted him immediately and greeted, "General, I'm under my commander's orders to invite you for a gathering."
Nathan asked curiously, "Who's your commander?"
"General, my commander said you'll know when you meet him," the National Guard replied.
Nathan glanced at the National Guard's uniform and guessed that he was from the South. Could it be Zach, the commander-in-chief of the South Army, who wants to treat me to dinner?
With that thought in mind, Nathan agreed. "Sure, I'll go with you."
Nathan, Penny, Colin and the Elite Eight set out together with the team of National Guards and the group of them drove to a farmhouse restaurant. The name of the farmhouse restaurant was "Bittersweet Memories".
There were rows of fresh garlic and peppers hanging around in the restaurant and the servers were all dressed in costumes from medieval times Even the cups in which water was served had interesting patterns on them.
It was quite an eye-opening experience for Nathan and Penny.
Soon, they arrived at a large private room. When Nathan entered the room, he spotted a few familiar faces.
The first person he saw was the dignified and elegant Cab member, Garrett.
There were two other men donning military uniforms who displayed an air of dominance. They were Lucas, the commander-in-chief of the West, as well as Zach, the
commander-in-chief of the South.
Nathan was shocked to see those three men there.
When Garrett saw Nathan, he smiled and stood up. "Nathan! You're finally here. These two guys over here are getting me drunk."
